Oh well, now I will just have to find another way to pass the time. I literally have nothing to do and my days just drag on forever! I can check in from time to time on my phone but not as often as I could from my work computer. :-(

Hello everyone, what a wonderful trip we had, and what a beautiful country. It's amazing how the cities become closer and more connected the closer to the east coast you get. Unfortunately, I got the flu from one of the kids. So I'll leave you with a couple of pics for now.

That was a nice trip for the kids (and adults). What did you do on Veteran's Day? Did you happen to see a lot of motorcycles?

Man, too bad you got the flu! You could enjoy Eastern Time for a while with us. I hope I don't get exposed to the flu for a few more weeks. Just got my flu shot yesterday (sanatizing keyboard now). I hate being confined to the bathroom, trying to decide which end it will come out of first. One wrong move(ment) can be a real mess!

Why would they do that? It isn't like a site that promotes viruses, trojans, or spyware. May I recommend an iPad? Bigger than a phone, and pretty much always online.

How was your landing? Our ride was so smooth too. I would have loved to stay up there all day. We were up for about an hour. Our landing wasn't quite so smooth - a little bumpy and fell on our side but they had a team following us by car that straightened us up.

We were lucky as the wind was not very high. Our landing was perfect with not even a bounce!

Has anyone done the hot air balloon ride at DTD? Just wondering how close that is to a "real" hot air balloon ride?

We did this the last time we were at DTD. It was very nice. But it was different from the real hot air balloon. The tethered ride was more like going up and down in an elevator. The view was great. But in the real balloon, it was a "floating" feeling, very calm.

Oh wow Sue, that must have been really fun! I have never done a hot air balloon ride ... putting that on my Bucket List.

In the air, how would you describe the feeling? I assume it is very calm and serine (sp?). How did the take-off and landing go? I imagine the landing to be a little more like a controlled crash/drag, unless the winds were very light.

I think serene is probably the best word to describe the feeling. It's quiet and calm - there is no swaying back and forth, just floating. They do tell you in the beginning that landing can be a little rough, but we had absolutely no problem - the pilot set it down exactly where he wanted it.

Sue, that looks fun. Is ballooning like parasailing over land?

Since I've tried to parasail several times and due to weather conditions have been cancelled 3 times, I'm not sure what the parasailing feels like. But I'm assuming it would be different because you don't feel any pulling or towing action. And rising and falling are very slow to happen in the balloon. It is dependent on the wind as to how it flies, not how fast a motor is going.

It was amazing! I have wanted to do it for a long long time! The morning was perfect, but not much of a breeze, so we didn't actually go too far, just a few miles. But the views were spectacular - especially with some of the fall colors still out!

This is one of the best pictures I have ever seen! Thanks for sharing.

Looks like the Flying Dutchman is leaving Castaway Cay!

There are rumors of a refurb or that she'll be replaced by the Black Pearl, but nothing official of course. I'm really bummed! I've seen the Black Pearl and the Interceptor and was looking forward to seeing a third ship.

The Dutchman is not my pic. That was posted on another thread today. The other two pics are mine. The Interceptor is actually the Lady Washington and is a few hours north of me in Grey's Harbor, Washington. Some friends and I were actually able to get on the ship and had a mini tour. The Black Pearl was at Ko Olina Marina when I was there a month ago.

in my opinion there is no comparison. You just go up and then just go down and your always tied down. At dtd.

Think about it, I said how much I love animals. If I cared that much to do something for a shark, don't you think I would do so much more to protect someone who raises such amazingly beautiful dogs???
You have no worries, should I see a battle between you and the shark, I will definitely have your side. So see, nothing to worry about, you can sleep soundly tonite.
(Now as long as she does not find out I told the shark the same thing...)

Nice Don't get me wrong I love most animals too Clearly, I have no love for sharks though. But, I wish them no harm. I don't want to see them killed off as I am sure they serve some environmental purpose, not discernable to me, that involves things besides striking terror into my heart. I doubt you would have to intervene between me and a shark since there is no chance that I will voluntarily go into the ocean. Now, if Ian tries to throw me overboard...that's another story
