I may have a hard time getting Sue to do that with me. I might have to find another person to accompany me in a balloon.

We weren't thre for the festival (unfortunately). It was a regular balloon but there there several balloons up there after us. I loved watching all the dogs outside barking at the balloons.

Come to think about it, my DH commented on hearing the same dog bark the entire time we were up! :rotfl:

I wanted to share some special fun I had yesterday! It was a long-awaited belated birthday gift from DH.

I have never been in a hot air balloon. I've had no desire :scared1:, but after seeing your pictures I think I might want to go on one now! :thumbsup2

It is such a smooth ride - I'd recommend it to everyone!! :thumbsup2

How was your landing? Our ride was so smooth too. I would have loved to stay up there all day. We were up for about an hour. Our landing wasn't quite so smooth - a little bumpy and fell on our side but they had a team following us by car that straightened us up.

Has anyone done the hot air balloon ride at DTD? Just wondering how close that is to a "real" hot air balloon ride?

Oh wow Sue, that must have been really fun! I have never done a hot air balloon ride ... putting that on my Bucket List.

In the air, how would you describe the feeling? I assume it is very calm and serine (sp?). How did the take-off and landing go? I imagine the landing to be a little more like a controlled crash/drag, unless the winds were very light.

What a great birthday present!

PS Never mind with my questions ... I was so slow, I think you covered them already

Terrie & I have. It's a HUGE balloon; it's tethered (so we don't float away, and that's how we get back down). It was cool You can see all the way to Orland Intl Airport. They won't operate the ride if the wind over 3-4miles.

Hello everyone, what a wonderful trip we had, and what a beautiful country. It's amazing how the cities become closer and more connected the closer to the east coast you get. Unfortunately, I got the flu from one of the kids. So I'll leave you with a couple of pics for now.

Landing on Chicago, Midway, home of Da Bears! There's Sears Tower in the distance!
