BACK IN THE 70s WE USED TO GO AROUND SAYING HEY HOSER, OR HOWs IT GOIN' HOSEHEAD!

I dated a girl in college, Colette Hoosier, they pronounced it (who z a) I believe it was of French origin.

Maybe we'll discover the real origins of the name, right here on the DIS? There were a lot of French here before we became a state. The French & Indian fur trading route came from Canada to Ft. Wayne to Ft. Ouitenon (near Lafayette) to Ft. Vincinnes (where William Henry Harrison governed the Indiana Territory, now IN, IL & MI) and on down the rivers to New Orleans, LA.

Hmmm ... the only connection I can see be Hoser and Hoosier is that early settlers were likely dirt poor, drunk and fought a lot. Pretty certain there was no Hockey here.

But in a sense, yes. He was apparently one of the preachers who traveled from village to village (more revival-like), than actually having a church.

I have never known anyone with the last name Hoosier, however.

I have often thought the marketing department at Hoosier Tire (they make mostly race tires) missed by not coming out with a tire called "Daddy".

Mike I glad you weren't playing because I accidentally posted on the front end. Then was quite lucky that there were only 3 of us playing, and got the bookend.

They've got the thing on the web where you can find anybody. So that phone call to Debbie got right before the game was from me. I asked her to come up with some excuse to use the computer.
