DS is has learned about WWII from the Call of Duty video games. Who would've thought that would happen?
Besides Hampshire, York and England? Not too much!
And you?
I'm not sure which thread we're talking about here, but I've been on "Meet" threads before each my cruises and this one is no different (= fun, friendly, etc.). So, I'd say that the "other thread" is the one out of step (and possibly, out of line
). IMHO.

Grumpy taught himself to read by Christmas of his Kinder year. He wanted a Pokemon game for his Game Boy and I told him that we wouldn't buy it for him until he could read. The game was heavy on text and there's no way we were going to hang over his shoulder and read it to him. It was September when we had this conversation and by Christmas break he was already at a 2nd grade reading level. The boy was motivated!

I had my 80s Wild Child moments. But, still pretty tame compared to most of my friends. I was an old married lady by the end of 1993.

That's simply amazing! Good for him!. Did he continue to stay well above his reading level throughout school?
Oh yeah. In third grade he was at a 10th grade level and by 5th he hit the maximum 12.9 level. He took a challenge and ran with it.
Wow!! He sure was!
I could write my name in cursiv befor kindergarten.

What can I say, he loves his games!Jason used to sit the boys in his lap and hand them a control that wasn't plugged in while he played. They'd push the buttons and gnaw on the controller. These boys literally cut their teeth on gaming.

Proud mama!
Did you know that a lot of schools no longer teach it?
Yeah. It has it's challenges though. The books he was interested in reading weren't at his level. So, how do you encourage growth without seeming to punish him and giving him more work.
