I hope all of the East Coasters are safe after the earthquake today in Virginia that was felt along the whole east coast! (at least that's what the news is reporting)

As if it isn't bad enough hurricane Irene plans to hit the east coast, mother Earth decided to hit them first!

I've heard from a friend who lives between the epicenter and DC that the media is blowing this way out of proportion (anyone surprised? ). They had a rumble for about 30 seconds and then it was over.

You mean to tell me that the media blows things out of proportion?! Now that's just not right! I found out (for sure) that the media did this about 12 years ago when I attended a County Council meeting and the next day in the paper there was an article about the meeting. I swear they attended a different meeting than I did because what they said in the article didn't happen at the meeting I was at.

Chuck & I were sitting in our den with friends when we felt it. The mirror on our wall was moving ,we have hanging stain glass in our windows that were swaying back and forth but the real clue that it was an earthquake was the water in our inground pool was sloshing [is that a word?] from side to side. Before you realized what was happening it was over. My cats felt it before us and they ran to the basement !!!!

My brother-in-law & sister-in-law live in Old Town Alexandria. They had bricks fall off the neighbors house into their courtyard.(thank goodness they weren't outside) they also ended up with bulging, cracked plaster walls. No injuries!!
