we are staying at okw before and after the cruise. We havent decided how we are getting to the pier yet. We may end up taking the disney transportation again or renting a car for the day. Then rent car for day on the way back.

posted because I am wondering if it would be cheaper to get a limo and share the expenses.

We are doing limo in DEC for cruise. There are 7 of us then so it works out cheaper. We would share if cheaper. I guess it depends where your staying.

I'm staying at OKW the day before the cruise...not going into parks. Just downtown Disney, and maybe outlets :) After the cruise flying home!

We are taking the Magical express....

On another board someone stated you should pack an extra bag for the "gifts" is it true?!?!

Can someone tell me what they have given in the past? Does everyone in the stateroom get gifts or 1 per room?

sounds like OKW is the resort of choice, but not for us we are staying at AKL first time since we became members. We are planning on going into any parks either just a relaxing time around the resorts.

I have also heard that you need another suitcase, but i don't know for sure. sounds like lots of fun stuff.

Wondering how formal the formal night is - do people dress up alittle more for a member cruise then a regular cruise? trying to decide what to wear from my closet of if I should start watching sales.

From what I've read in previous posts the 3-4 night cruises have no formal night, just semi-formal (Sundress, pant suits, jackets and collared shirts)

I'm wondering if they are going to have the chocolate buffet :rotfl:

It is a good idea to pack an extra bag. My DW and I went on the 2010 member cruise and received so much stuff that we ended up shipping a box home from the BC convention center after the cruise. We received two of everything. We got a very small Mickey suitcase with wine glasses, a travel clock, pins, and water bottles. That's all I can remember right now. But yes you do get something every day and I believe every one in the room gets a gift.:cool1:

We are also staying at OKW. We always ask for TURTLE POND area. We like the pool area:cool1: The last 2 member cruises the temp. was over 100 degrees at times so the POOL came in handy:rotfl2: I remember sitting on the beach at CC at Serenity bay when the rain passed thru, it felt sooooooooo nice:rotfl2:. Just sat there with my DRINK in my hand getting rained on. It only rained for a few mins. One of those typical cloud bursts that only cover a small area. While it poured on one part of the Island the other part was sunny. I think I have a photo taken from a cabana facing the ship where the ship disappeared from the rain:rotfl2:

Getting back to the gifts. It depends on what they give. You get one per person in the cabin. Every year we have gotten special collecter pins(im a pin collecter) so i really like the PINS. Every year we have gotten a kidslike box carrying case filled with DVC stuff. One year we got a Mickey snow globe with im holding his wizard hat and a Tux with Steamboat Willie Mickey inside the globe part. Last year we got the book, Its Not Easy Being Green, since Kermit the Frog was one of the Guest speakers. Steve W, the person who took over for Jim Henson personally signed our books and brought them to our cabin on the last night. There is a story behind that:
Well this is turning into a very long post:rotfl2: I can keep on going.

As mentioned in your post you said your taking Disney Transportation from OKW, you might see us on that bus if we dont find other way of getting to and from the ship. We have taken it before, usually there is more than 1 bus stopping in at OKW and SSR, they usually group those 2 resorts together.

since it is just the two of us I assume we will be assigned to a table of more then two. If that is the case is there anyway to request your dining mates? If you can choose does anybody want to eat with Jeff and I (we have very good table manners) we also have early dining?

YES YOU CAN. WE ALWAYS LINK OUR RESSIES. We have sat with the same 8 people all member cruises we have been on. Once you book the cruise all you have to do is find someone you have gotten to know then someone normally calls DCL but since this is a member cruise you call DVC cruise and give them all the ressie numbers and names involved. They will link you together. It should normally show up then on your reservation on the website. Thats where you look to see what you have booked, like excursions ,Palo etc.
Last year a couple in our disboard group didnt request who to sit with. They only sat at that table one night. The other 6 didnt talk to them. They found a table elsewhere.
Everyone knows everyone at our table so we all know how to act:rotfl2:or should I say act up. I mean have fun!!!!!!!:rotfl2: We avoid those first night not knowing what to say conversations.

I dont' want that ackward first night silence since it is such a short night, that's why I am hoping to find someone on the boards.

I was wondering if they dont sell out on the cruise will they upgrade people so they can fill the ship? Im pretty sure they rent the ship from DCL so I would imagine they would like a full cruise.:confused3
