09/16/2012 member cruise

Hi everyone! We made a quick decision and decided to come on this cruise! We have sailed several times with Disney however this is our 1st member cruise! :cool1: It will be my mom, sister and I going!! :dance3::woohoo: Girls Trip! Woohoo!

Can you seasoned member cruisers tell me about some of the "extra" things that were offered/given/events. I was told that all of the tips were included, is that correct? Also the daily gifts that are left in the cabin does each person staying in that cabin receive one. All three of us are DVC members.

Thanks!

HI, and welcome to the group! Yes the tips are included. Usually after the member cruise we have a problem fitting everything into our 2 suitcases and 2 carry on. Since we fly down we have to do creative packing:rotfl2: Last year one of the gifts was a box with wine glasses inside. We received 2 because there was 2 people in cabin.
The one event Laura and I havent done in the last 3 cruises was the 1 hour talk in the Theatre. They usually split the passengers into 2 groups for this presentation. Basically they are trying to get you to buy more points. 4 years ago we did sign up for 250 more points because we needed more. They gave us a free member cruise for the following year with a veranda. The last couple member cruise DUCKY WILLIAMS has been one of the guests. He has seminars on character drawing. He takes about his life at Disney as he draws a character. Everyone who goes is given a raffle ticket. He gives away around 20 character drawings he just did before the talk and signs them. On one of the nights they Premier the newest version of a feature film or short. Example 2 years ago they redid SNOW WHITE. They would have a director or someone else who was involved with redo of the film. Interview them on the top deck infront of the big outdoor screen. then show the feature. Last year we watch the new PREP and LANDING that came out at Christmas. They served us Hot Chocolate and Gingerbread cookies while Snowmaking machines blew snowflakes over the top deck.:thumbsup2

FYI you don't have to be a DVC member to get the daily gifts Everyone staying in the cabin gets one of each gift. The only difference, I believe, is the Castaway gift. There is only one given per stateroom per cruise usually and it depends on your level. :)

Im going to run an FE for this cruise if that is okay with everone. Let me know who wants to be included. You can PRIVATE POST me your cabin and who is in cabin. EXAMPLE

Ian(DH) Laura(DW) Cabin xxxx

If you have kids it would be Daughter DD Son DS

HOPE YOU ALL REPLY.

ONCE THE FINAL LIST IS MADE I WILL SEND EVERYONE THE LIST. WE WILL NEED TO HAVE A CUT OFF DATE OF A COUPLE WEEKS BEFORE CRUISE.:thumbsup2

I have one quick question I am thinking of traveling solo is there alot of meet n greets with other DVCer's so that I can meet people and not always be on my own.

I can give a partial answer to your question. Last Dec Laura and I were on the 4 day DREAM cruise. There was 1 person in our Disboard group that was sailing by herself. Since we have sailed Disney before we knew we could Link our reservation to hers and she could sit with us for Dinner. We ended up with 7 at our table and had a great time. We booked Palo for brunch for a table of 6. Then asked her to come and another couple.
The only meet and greets we have had on previous cruises were on the first day usually at 3pm. You got to meet most of the Disboard posters for the first time.
Our last 2 member cruises the Thread was very busy so everyone got to know everyone well on the thread.

Put Liz and me down from the uk!, our 12th cruise but 1st members cruise, have Been

in dvc since 1992

Count us in this will be our second cruise, first member cruise and also our first vacation (ever) without kids. We are going to be celebrating birthdays my 45 and Jeff's 47. But the major celebration will be our 10 year wedding anniversary:lovestruc.

I have read through the entire thread and have not found a link to facebook. Do we have a page and if not do you want one created, I can do it without any issues (i think).

Ive officially started an FE list:cool1:
So far its.

DVC DEERNUT IAN(DH) LAURA(DW)
SRAUCHBAUER SUSAN(DW) JEFF(DH)

IF YOU WANT TO BE ADDED PRIVATE POST ME WITH THE PEOPLE JOINING. YOU CAN GIVE ME YOUR CABIN NUMBER IN THE PRIVATE POST. I WILL KEEP A LIST AND KEEP EVERYONE UP TO DATE OF THE CHANGES BY EMAIL OR PRIVATE POST. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

thank you DVC deernut for organizing the FE's. Time to get the creative juicies flowing.

I was wondering last night as i was able to fall asleepdo you think that maybe this cruise isn't seling as fast because the added a January one and more people want a winter break then a fall break. :confused3

Also wondering is there a formal night and a pirate night? pirate:

YES THERE IS A PIRATE NIGHT AND FORMAL NIGHT. The formal night on a disney cruise I usually wear a suit or sport coat, Laura wears usually a pant suit or dress.

Thats me on pirate night. On the member cruise many dress up for pirates night. On a regular disney cruise very few dress up.

As far as answering your question about having 2 cruises, my opinion is NO go back to 1. I feel its a business decision to sell more points to MEMBERS. Ive given my opinion to DVC reps while on last years MEMBER cruise. We felt DVC wasnt thinking of the members they already have but thinking about how to get more.

What ever negatives are said about the MEMBER CRUISE the positives out weigh them.
We do the Member cruise because its made special by all the new friends we have made over the years. We have sat with the same people on every cruise. 2 years ago I drove 7 hours to our friends who live near Springfield Mass. to have a call in party. :rotfl2: Thats how much I wanted to be on the cruise. I have brought home great memories from each cruise.

sounds like a lot of fun can't wait i had so much when we cruised on the Wonder this past march I just can't until September. Thank goodness the summer is always super busy.:moped: hoping the next 5 months zoom past.

Hi everyone, I just booked this cruise on Friday! It will be husband and myself (we have grown children)we have a veranda room on deck 7, we have friends who are members too, they are also on deck 7.

When I booked I wanted a veranda room, member services said "thats good all lower catagories are pretty much sold out!"

I can't seem to find an itinerary...I know it's 2 days at Castaway, but do we stay at Castaway for the 2 days or do we sail and come back?

I have cruised before but not a members cruise...are the gifts really nice? I'm surprised you get gifts every day!! I'm hoping it's not 4 days of sales pitches!

In looking at the deck plans the rooms seem smaller than the wonder and the magic....

Any information is appreciated...pirate:

If you are facebook we do have a group created. The link is up a few threads. Created by MNwoodduck (aka Jeff also my DH).

WELCOME TO THE GROUP! This will be our 6th Member cruise. I will be running an FE if your interested. The cruise is only a 4 day sales pitch if you let it:rotfl2: Last year on the Dream they had the sales desks(rci had a desk) on the deck above where you board. Just above Customer Service Desk. If you go to the 1 hour presentation they have in the theatre, thats bacically to promote the newest resort at DVC. I have the feeling this year might be the new resort beside the Grand Floridian and maybe still Aulani. The 4 day schedule usually is CC then day at sea, CC then back.
