Cool! WElcome SKOI!!!!!!! WOohoo we are growing slowly but surely, now if only I could get these people to yak with me! LOL Did you all see the thread on the main DCL board, we will need passports when we cruise YUCK,. It will be required

I wondered about that. It said Mexico was December 2006, the Caribbean was earlier. Since we're going to Mexico...but the cruise is a 'Western Caribbean' which category are we in?

I didnt think about that Tracey, but since we are also doing the 05/27/06 double scoop we will need them irregardless

Praisehisname-- you mentioned you were cramped in a Cat 4? How cramped? :grouphug:

At the time, our kids were 9, 7, and 5. We had spent 4 days before the cruise in the parks, so we had a lot of STUFF. Also, when the murphy bed comes down from the wall for the 5th person, it is almost impossible to get out to the verandah and the steamer trunk (where all our kids clothes were) was completely inaccessible. We had to think ahead and lay out evening/morning clothes before dinner since the bed would be made up when we got back. We also found it tricky getting ready for dinner with 5 people needing baths/showers and only 1 bathroom.

This year we went with 2 connecting category 9s. We didn't even miss the verandah and it was actually cheaper than the category 4! The extra bathroom was wonderful, too!

Hope that helps!
Denise

Dzneprincess: Thanks for the welcome aboard. Dh was teasing me about being on the board again because the trip is so far away. I told him you have to PLAN. Because I'm obsessive about these Disney trips they always go fairly smoothly.

PraiseHisname: Sounds pretty cramped. We stayed at WDW for a week (and drove from Southeastern PA) last time and we had so much junk it wasn't funny. We were in a cat 8. We've been saving for the verandah since that trip and are really looking forward to it. I read it was hard to get on the verandah with the bed down. The kids and dh will be disappointed if we don't have the verandah, so I'll guess we'll deal with it. Good suggestion about laying out clothes the afternoon before.

This will be our first solo cruise without grandparents, uncle and aunt, so we'll see how it is without built-in babysitters.

I'm happy to hear that the connecting category 9's worked for you Denise, as that's what we decided to go with! It was less expensive, and I figured we'd have two bathrooms, and both boys can have a pull-down bunk if they want. (That's pretty high on their list, lol.) :p The kids will be 3, 12, and 13 by the time we cruise.

Hey yall, we normally have 2 connecting 10s. Well this past Nov I wanted to see what all the fuss was about a verandah, so we got a cat 6 and a cat 11. It was nice, dont get me wrong, but I liked the 10s better. It was cheaper, and I liked having the kids connected to me instead of across the hall.

Hey all...........we have always had a verandah as well. When we go on this cruise it will be our first time doing connecting staterooms. We are a family of 5 and to be honest we did not really feel cramped in the cat 4 at all. We would have to manuver(sorry about the spelling?) a little when the kids were asleep to have our boat drinks on the porch..........but worth the effort I suppose, you know the view is fabulous . pirate: Cruise #2 and #3 the grandparents got a kid in their room at night, so we only had to have a cat 6.

This time we got the sph rooms so we could not help but take the bargain. We figure by the time we sail in 2006 the kids will be old enough to stay in the rooms alone at night if we want to have a few cocktails :drinking1 .

I saw about the passports as well. It works for me. I have been trying to convince my husband to get them in case I could talk him into a long weekend in London or Dublin! Sometimes you can get great deals if you book at the last minute.

All else is good in Ohio...finally have good weather and school is almost out! Woo Hoo for those of us who work in the school system!!!

Talk to you later,
Missy

Okay,
fill me in-we have to have passports now? i am clueless-where do we get them and how? so this replaces the birth cert. right? Missy how was your Great wolf lodge trip? Sitting at work-just got a break from the craziness-broke a record for our ER-171 patients in 24 hours! There was a write up in the paper that siad Toldeo has the hightest number of visits to the ER-no kidding!?!? they didn't have to tell us that! I love my job, don't get me wrong-I just wish people would take accountability for their own health-take tylenol if you have a fever-if you vomit one time in 2 days it is NOT and emergency,etc....oh well I am done venting-thanks for the ear! come on count down clock!
Darcy

We got the Cat 4 today, and DCL and our travel agent really came through for us! We had to explain to the TA, well, we need to upgrade because we'll be 5 instead of 4, but we don't know the name of number 5 or the age really because we're adopting blah-blah-blah. The TA says, 'well, the price has gone up significantly, let me call DCL and see if they'll give you a break'. And he called, told them the whole story, and DCL let us book the Cat 4 at the price it would have been had we booked it originally, saving us A LOT of money. So thanks TA and DCL! :cheer2:

The TA also said they're booking up fast even this far in advance, and the ship will be more crowded (and prices higher) than usual for this time of year due to the double dip of Castaway. Good thing we all booked early.

Dinny, effective 12/31/05 you need a passport to come back to US. There is a thread on the main DCL page about it but I am too lazy to look it up and link it! lOL Sorry

Darcy

Hello all! :wave2: Sorry I haven't posted to this thread in a while, school :teacher: is taking me over. Reguardless I have had the worst DCL cravings! I really wish we were foing on a cruise this year. I can only watch that silly planning dvd so many times!

Hey guys just checking in. Everyone must be busy posting in threads for cruises prior to this one! LOL Everyone check in, let us know how goes it for you and yours!

Greetings, friends!

My husband and I will be on this cruise as well. We booked it back a couple of months ago. We switched our deposit from the August Repo - THAT cruise was taking on a life of it's own, price-wise. :scared1:

This will be our fourth DCL cruise, and our second trip to Mexico (which we love). Mayan ruins and tequila. It just doesn't get any better, in my opinion. :drinking1

We are in a Cat. 9, mid-ship, and we have late seating.

I gotta say that my beloved and I are looking very forward to this. We sailed in February, and we were really disappointed with the air and water temps. :cold: We also sailed in September 2003, and had beautiful weather. The captain just steered around whichever hurricane was whipping around at the time... :rolleyes1
And two trips to CC! Woo Hoo!!! That's the best part. :sunny:

See you guys in 511 days! :wave2:

Karen

All right Karen! WElcome aboard! I need another gabber to help me keep this thread going! LOL Are you that gabber?

Well... I'm not exactly sure that I qualify as a "gabber", but I'll certainly give it the ol' college try! (Essentially, my level of "gab" is in direct correlation to the amount of previously mentioned tequila that I have consumed...) :rotfl:

So, how many cruises has everyone been on? Does everybody have kids? We often feel like fish out of water (pun sorta intended) since it's just the two of us. It's not quite as bad on DCL, though. Because of the kid clubs, the adults seem to have more time to themselves. The first cruise that we were on, our tablemates couldn't get the kid to spend any time with them! They had to force him to come to Animator's Palate. Too funny.
