09/15/07 Early Check in September 15, 2007 Eastern

Can I join you guys? I am Lori, and my dh is Chris, we have two dd's Cassidy (6) and Courtney (3). We were on the Western Magic 9/23 this year and loved it. Within the first few days of the cruise we said that we would probably wait four year or so to do it again, because the kids were kind of cranky and tired at points. By the end of the cruise we decided we couldn't wait that long ans would do every two years. But that idea only lasted about a day or so :rotfl2: It is now the plan to do an annuak September cruise. We are not booked yet, and most likely will not book until July, but I just wanted to come by here and say hi and meet some of my fellow cruisers.

Welcome Lori! I'm glad there are so many great families going! I'm hoping this time to actually be able to meet more of my fellow DISers. Having just gotten engaged before our 9/30 cruise we were kind of in our own little world... :p

Here's a pic of us from Formal Night on the September cruise.

And one of DS4 from earlier this month.

Sorry if they are big but resizing on Photobucket is a total pain and I don't feel like reloading them. :teeth: Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi Everyone -

I have started working on a web site for us to keep track of everyone. It is FAR from done but here is a link:

http://www.geocities.com/lisacarrott@sbcglobal.net/DCL_Magic.html

I have NEVER put together a website before so this is my first attempt. I borrowed the layout idea from the 11 day sailing (WOW did they have lots of stuff going on...) If anyone thinks that we should add other info to it or has any suggestions, let me know now since it would be easier to change sooner rather than later.....

I finally got a chance to look at the website and it looks great Lisa, Thanks for doing it. We have early seating for dinner.

Kim

Lois,
You mentioned still working to cruise. Do you still work with animals?

Lisa,
We will do any Scuba excursions offered. Probably no others. So if you are up to keeping track that is our schedule. We also will have late dining PLA.

For those of you that snorkel TRUNK BAY is not to be missed. It is protected and truly beautiful. One of my doctor friends keeps a picture on his PC as a screen saver he enjoyed it so much with his family. You can do it with or without Disney excursions. :fish: :fish: :fish:

We just had some friends in Ft. Lauderdale e-mail us yesterday. They wanted to know if we decided when we were taking our cruise. I told them we booked this one and they might be looking into it now too. I will post to let everyone know if we have a couple more when they get back to me. :sunny:

I sure hope everyone can use some power lounging :rotfl2: :goodvibes and the term.

Here is a pic of "Magical Moments" certificate. The gift that may come with this is tailored to the guest(s). I have heard of children receiving them before, but I hadn't heard of adults getting them. (What does that tell you about me?) :lmao:

It was left in my fish as a surprise along with a pass for the rain forest room.
What did you do to get that Magical Moments gift?

pixiedust: I haven't a clue. Rechelle was a CM at the Vista Spa. She signed it, but I interacted with several staff. :confused3 As I said it was a surprise. pixiedust:

I no longer work at a zoo. I went to college and now I do social work. I work with adults and children who have developmental delays. I love what I do and find it very rewarding. I kinda live in a zoo however. We have two cats and three dog in the home. I miss working with the animal but I was getting older and it is very physical. So I took a different path. One day I will need to share some of my stories if anyone cares to listen. Lois

Hi, we will hopefully be joining you on this cruise. We just got back from the 9/30 Eastern and loved it so much we booked for next year, hoping to move it to 2008 when dates came out. This weekend we decided we just can't wait and are going to keep this date - hoo hoo!!! Now, if I can only stay on budget. It will be me, DH and DS8 (will be 9 on cruise). This time my family will be trying to join us, but definitely my mom, and hopefully my 2 sisters and their DHs.

I recognize a couple of names here. Kamy, didn't you originally book the 2006 9/30? And, mommaraven, weren't you on it?

Well, gotta run. I'll be lurking for a while... popcorn::

Ah Lois, now I remember. I need Jan's notebook. :goodvibes You did tell me about the social work. Had a rough day today. Looked at the wrong day on my PDA and went all the way to downtown Orlando for nothing. Those of you that have driven in our traffic know this is not a fun trip. lol

Hopefully we'll have lot's of time to swap stories. :thumbsup2

I don't remember if I had shared that before. It really dosen't matter. I have been a social worker for about 13 years now. I had to decide how I was going to support my self when my first relationship fell apart. I had been married for almost 14 years and only worked part time focusing on being up our two children (ages 31 and 30 now). I work with a number of outstanding folks. It is amazing to see life through their eyes. They still see the fun in the world and don't let what other people say and do to color their world. Of course, there are the few that see every thing as bad but they are the exception. In many ways it is not far off from taking care of animals. Lois

Welcome to LoriS & DisneyMom&Fan  I added you both to our cruise member website (we now have a PAGE #2)

nacho1337 - I clicked on the link you posted to check it out and got nothing but a blank page :confused3 I will have to try again later and hopefully it will work.

I got a very concerning phone call today from my Disney Visa. Apparently someone got ahold of my credit card number and was trying to purchase a $600 gift card from Circuit City online today. The had all the correct info except for the phone number. Thankfully Circuit City was dilligent and realized that the e-mail addy provided was new and non verifiable and since the phone number did not work, they called Chase who called me to verify the charges. Since it was FRAUD they immediately closed my account before any other charges could be made. I am so fortunate that it was caught so quickly. It is so scary knowing these kinds of predators are out there and have my address....

Curious,

Just today I was observing how one of the little girls at my daughters' lunch table was chatting. Everything she had to say was so0rt of criutical and negative. I thought how strange it was - and I was watching how the other girls were sort of looking at her and to varying degrees they were twisting their face gently recognizing the critical girls comments as out of line - while others were aloof to her remarks. My daughter was in between here. Later I was chatting with my spouse on this and we were not certain how we should respond to it. As in... how should we guide our daughters on encounters with kids with these sort of dark POVs?

I've decided to enquire with a couple of trusted teachers of our daughters from the past. Plus I had other teaching/school concerns to raise with them = questions / not complaints of any sorts.

At any rate - I did not read backwards beyond this posting so I guess I'm risking a disruptive "aside" by butting in - but your remarks posed a curious coinicidence in todays latest discovery at school.

So from here I'll look back and get caught up on whats' goin' on here! ;)

Cheers...

I have got to say...

... I am really annoyed with these identity thieves. We've had several encounters with these sorts - plus many friends and colleauges who have been inconvenienced. Plus - ONE occasion where someone we knew actually LOST several 10s of 1000s off their DEBIT account as they did not discover the false charges till several weeks had passed and their account was empty. They had kept 10s of 1000s in their account and were not very careful about things then. Oh yeah, someone I met at the park a few weeks back was sharing they had also had their debit account targeted and they did not catch on til their mortgage check (among others) bounced!

I wonder when then will ever enact something to get any REAL control over this. I think it is really getting out of hand and the fraud seems to be accelerating. Last year I had a call from one of my cards and they asked me if I had recently bought something that I recollect was about $100 and I said "no". And then they asked if I had just ordered a $4000 computer and I said "definately not!". Then I asked that they verify THEIR identity! They did - and shut down my account. This is one of several ocassions in the last decade where we were personally compromised with our accounts.

Oh yeah... I shop eBay and I've detected lots of fraudulant listings. Once in a while I interact a little with one to see where they are trying to get us to wire funds (IE, I wanna know where these thieves are coming from)... and recently they have been apparently coming from Romania. Further in the past they were from Amsterdam and the netherlands, and a long time ago they seemed to be based out of Nigeria. So - I once sent them an email telling them I smoked them out and was advising both eBay security and the local law enforcement authority in THEIR local town in Romania (I found the electronic detective address and was in active exchange with them over these folks)... AND THEN... they attempted to PISH me with ... get this... an email pretending to be EBAY SECURITY thanking me for helping and to reconfirm MY IDENTITY from their processing efforts! Imagine that! These thieves are creative and BOLD in dreaming up a PISH counterattack on seemingly "do good" folks like me who begin to stalk them! SO yeah... I've shut down litterally 1000s of listings that were obvious made with stolen accounts (by alerting ebay security - sometimes a few minutes after they go up!)... and now in th catagories I shop they no longer appear. Yah!

At any rate... I've since deliberately reduced the number of cards and requested the dollar limits on charging be lowered to a scale that meets my emergency needs.

....
