We loved the fish extender gifts. We did our gifts in two parts. The buttons of course and then for the fish extenders we gave out lifesavers with special wrappers.

Loved the miniature Louisville slugger we got, the jam from GA, the taffy and so many other fun things. Plus it is great fun walking the ship and seeing all the DISers door decorations and fish extenders.

Yes, they give you tip envelopes at the end of the cruise.

The little cards are vouchers that you give to your servers and room attendants....you give them the last night.

Take care....Monika:flower3:

Cool! I will have to remember this.

Yes, we usually by the trip insurance. One never knows what could happen. Also, since this is during hurricane season I want to make sure I have it just in case. I have checked out other in insurance but always seam to come back and use the one through Disney.

It is a good question though. Has any one used insurance other then the one through Disney?

Flo

Another excellent suggestion. I will have to add the insurance.

We are having problems to. We have comcast. I go nuts when we don't have the internet. No DIS.:)

I have Fairpoint Communications and I am not happy. My DSL has goen out twice in the past month. When Verizon owned the service it didn't go out twice in years! It definitely makes it hard to DIS! :surfweb:

That's very interesting. We've been thinking about going with Fairpoint's triple package of TV, phone, & internet over here in Maine. Do you have that?

No, my cable is still Comcast. I think that the triple play is Direct TV for the TV part and my condo is not situated well for sattelite. Now if they had FIOS, I would change in a second! :happytv:

I see you are going to WDW directly. I hope you have a great time!!!!
I wish I were there!!!!!
Have fun.

Flo,

I think I saw that you were looking for info on staying on Deck 5 aft. So far, I think that was my favorite place that we stayed. Now, granted, my experience is quite limited (2 cruises on Deck 7, one on Deck 5), but I really liked Deck 5. There's not much traffic or noise and it's so convenient to a lot of things. I'm betting you'll like it, too. We booked a Cat. 10 on Deck 2 for the members' cruise.

We too have stayed on Deck 5 aft. The location is great, close to the theater, and not too far to most everything else. Most the time I would just use the stairs, helps offset all the extra eating.

Thanks to all that provided feedback to my prior post.

In regards to the gifts for the fish extenders, do you indicate from whom the gifts have been received or is it supposed to be anonymous?

I'm still skeptical that items will walk off, maybe the whole thing, but not too many comments on that. Anyone have any negative experiences with the fish extenders.

Gifts have been handled in whatever way you want. I dropped off gifts to every room on the last day of the cruise but didn't say who they were from. Others put them in bags with their names on them so it really is up to you. On the last cruise we were on there were only 12 rooms and I did a pirate theme (pencil, pad of paper, stickers, tattoos, candy, etc.) but you don't have to do that either. It is all up to your imagination or budget. Annmarie

On SSMC06, several people had magnets removed from their doors but it turned out to be a group of teens who decided to put them on other people's doors. If you are going to do magnets for your door, I would recommend personalizing them with your name, room number or something else specific to the cruise or your family.

I can't sew (not even a button) so my friend made both of our our FEs. She said no one would ever want to steal them because of the way they came out but I thought she did a nice job! Other people may have had bad experiences but I wasn't one of them.

Good morning everyone - happy Wednesday!

We put our names on our fish extender gifts as did many others, but some left them as a surprise. I prefer knowing who it is from.

I remember on the '07 cruise heading out the door early in the morning to go walking and found the fish extender was full of gifts so they were all safe over night.

There were no names on the ones I got or gave. The only time I knw who it was is if I saw them putting it in there or saw them walkingaround the ship with there hands full. Hope this helps.

Last year I was told by one of my DIS friends that was doing the fish extenders to tie it on with a wire tied (will bring extra). This way they do not disappear. But like Mary said I have never found any of the gifts to disappear. Also, the magnets. I got my first DVC on the last cruise and that I did find on someone else’s door. I just put back on mine. It was just the kids. No harm done.

The door magnates we make we always put are First name and room on it.

hope this helps.

We always bring zip ties with us to secure the fish extender to our fish. We also put our names on our door magnets so that they don't "walk".

Good Morning All,

I didn't use one but it is a good idea since my close friend (who is my like family) made it for me and I wouldn't want it to walk. Where do you get your ties?

Annmarie

Annmarie you can get a jar of them at Home Depot for just a couple of bucks. We always bring extra with us and bring them to the DIS meet if you need one. We even have DIS green. :thumbsup2
