Hi, I am new to this forum (or any forum), but am excited to be joining all of you on the SSMC09! As soon as I figure out if I am doing this post correctly, I'll add more information. I hope you all can be patient with me!:worship:

:wave2: and :welcome: to the SSMC09 thread. Glad you will be joining us. Don't worry about being a newbie. We've all been there at one time. If this is like prior years, this is an excellent way to get to know people before getting on board the ship and the best part is that all of us have DVC in common. Don't hesitate to post, ask questions, etc. Annmarie

Hey Guys. :) I was just on the DVC web site and I decided that I would check and see what the points would be to say the night before at one of the resorts in a studio. Normaly we would do a two bedroom I love the space. But for one night we can handle a studio. It would be cheaper in my eyes to use the points then spend money (at least 139.00) on the radisson port canaveral. That is more money to spend on the cruise.:cool1: So in short we may be at the DIS meet.

Since I did send an e mail to the radisson I will still see if we can get a discount. Even if I don't use let everyone else.

Even though we're not going on the Member Cruise this time, may I humbly offer my services to be the score keeper of Swans and Pirate for the thread?:worship: I really enjoyed doing it for the last cruise.:hyper:

Gary,

What an incredibly generous offer!! It would be greatly appreciated, and I will let you know when my wife is on to award the "swans" ....LOL

Thank You very much!!

Yeah! After my husband dialing for 2 hours yesterday and then an hour on hold we finally got through at 1pm. We have booked a catagory 8 oceanview room. Room 6000. This is our first cruise and our first time using our dvc for something disney. Congrats to everyone else that go through. I think I was reading somewhere about pins and I would be interested in one if that person sees this thread. What is everyone doing for transportation? I have tons of other questions as well. :cheer2:

:welcome: aboard! We were in Room 6014 for our October 5 cruise and liked the area. It as quiet since there weren't a lot of people walking back and forth in this area. We also liked to big window but we are moved up to a category 7 since DH wanted the verandah. I thought we were all set for an 8 and had room numbers all picked out but once DH got on the phone he said let's move up to the verandah like we've had on other member cruises. Who am I to argue with that! ;)

I am organizing a bus for those of us staying at WDW prior to and after the cruise. There is information about this on the first page of this thread but don't hesitate to ask questions. You may ask a question and get several different answers but everyone here is helpful and informative so ask away. Annmarie

Thanks for all the information. We will be leaving a 14mo old with my parents so I think we will be going from the airport to the port on SUnday and then staying for maybe a day at wdw after, not sure yet. They told me to call back with airline info to get my transfers and that i needed to be at orlando by noon. The cost was 70.00 per person. I would welcome everyone or anyones opinions on this.

Wow! I'm trying to get caught up on all of the posts today. I was in meetings from 11:30 til 4:30 and was never at my computer to sneak in here for a minute or two.

I agree with everyone who posted about being exhausted last night. It was more than just changing the clock changing. I think it was the anxiety of calling in and posting here talking to everyone. By the way, DH was the one who got through but my iPhone tracks how many times I make a call. I called DVC 99 times yesterday! It didn't seem like it was that many times but goodness I'm glad I was calling in on a Sunday because weekend calls are free! :rotfl:

It is great to see so many first time cruisers, first time DVC cruisers as well as several names I've recognized from prior cruises DH & I have been on.

We stayed at the airport Hyatt Regency for our cruise on October 5 but wish we just used our points and stayed at WDW. I feel the same way about points. I would rather use them since they are already paid for than lay out cash at another hotel. That will just give me more to spend on excursions! :rotfl:

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency for are cruise in 2006. I liked it but I am not so sure it is worth the money. I know you could go to price line, but I did not want to take a chance that it would not be the Hyatt. What I did enjoy is watching the planes. At the time I did not even think of points.

99 times calling DVC!:) I wish I would have counted. But in the long run it is worth it. We are both on the DVC Cruise.

Hi count as in on the members cruise

:welcome: aboard!

Pirate Update!!! Aaaarggghhh!!!pirate:

wltdsnyfan got the 100th post and therefore earns a Pirate!!!:thumbsup2
iluvdisney got the 200th post and therefore earns a Pirate!!!
BCVOwner2002 got the 300th post and therefore earns a Pirate!!!:yay:
WDWLVR got the 400th post and therefore earns a Pirate!!!:woohoo:
BigDogHU75 got the 500th post and therefore earns two Pirates!!!:cheer2:

Every 100th post = 1 Pirate
Every 500th post = 2 Pirates
Every 1000th post = 3 Pirates

The current score is:

BigDogHU75 - 2 Pirates (500th)
wltdsnyfan - 1 Pirate (100th)
iluvdisney - 1 Pirate (200th)
BCVOwner2002 - 1 Pirate (300th)
WDWLVR - 1 Pirate (400th)

The next milestone is at the 600th post and is worth 1 (One,Uno) Pirate!!!:sail:

Okay! First, thanks for doing this but I've never been part of this before although it seems like fun especially since I have already received a pirate:

What do we do with them and do you track them for us throughout the thread?

Annmarie - thanks for taking this on. Mark and I would be interested (sent you a pm with our info). We had a blast in 2006 on the party bus. I'll even bring the toilet paper! :lmao:

Okay! We are counting on you for this! :rotfl2:

I totally agree with you! I was just surprised when I looked at my phone this morning. I'm glad we got on too because we really enjoyed the two member cruises we were on in 2005 & 2006.

Wow, everyone has been busy posting today! I think that I was 4 pages behind!

:woohoo: I have 1 :bride:.

It took some time yesterday, but I finally got my signature to show the cruise symbol. (Yes my signature is just toooo long. :lmao: ) Now I just need to add another trip countdown but I think that I will wait until after this weekend's trip to WDW.

OK DCL experts, my next questions are:

1) When is soda not included in your fare? Is it just in the bars/lounges or also at other times.

2) Does every cruise have a pirate night or do you expect the theme to change next year? i.e. should I do some shopping during my up-coming WDW trips so that I will be ready?

1) Yes it is jsut the bars, lounges and room service.

2) So far yes the Wounder and the Magic have pirate nights. So have some fun and do some shopping.pirate: at WDW.

But most important have a great time at the World.

Keep 'em comin' :)

1) The only other place it's not free is room service, as they get it from the bar services. Pop is free at sitdown meals, the deck 9 drink station and at the buffets on the ship and island.

2) Pirate night is something DCL does on all cruises now, not just a DVC thing. So yes, prepare away :)

Thanks to all of you (flo, Mary and, bigdoghu75) who have made me feel so welcome to this forum! We have been members of DVC for quite a while, our home resort is OKW. We went on the maiden voyage of the Disney Magic in 1998, and have cruised with Disney multiple times. We have been on one member cruise in 2005. That was an incredible cruise, (remember Ophelia?!). We are just recovering from using all our points, and, here we go again! YEA!

My husband and I will be traveling with my parents, they will be celebrating turning 75 next year and I am celebrating? turning 50! I would like to say there are children in our group but, aren't we all just kids at heart!

I feel this forum and all of you will make this cruise an even more special event because of all of you.

How do I PM? I think that means private message?

Thanks,

Ravonne

Like I posted before you will get a lot of responses to your questions.

1) During our October 5 cruise, they offered special straws or things that clipped on my god child's glass. I think they offered Captain Hook or Tinker Bell. So while the soda was free, if you wanted the special cup/add-on they offered, it cost you extra money.

2) Now that Halloween is over most stores have all of their costumes and stuff on sale so now is a great time to buy pirate related stuff.

Welcome to the DISboards! :welcome:

Yes, PM is private message. However, I think that your post count has to be at least 10 (?) in order to PM. So just ask 8 more quetions/comments and then you can PM.

I don't think you can PM until you have 10 messages or more so keep sending them! :surfweb: Wow! You were on SSMC05 and could've run into a number of us. That was our very first cruise and I got emotional as we left the port. I can't imagine what it must've been like to be on the maiden voyage! I would love to do that with one of the new ships.

Do I remember 2005 and Ophelia? Oh yeah! That was a great cruise.

Here are two of the men who made that cruise so special:

08.jpg

On the left in Green is Matt who works for DCL. We've seen him every cruise since then usually at the photo shoot. Hi Matt! :wave2:

In the middle is our own MarkRG.

On the right is David who at the time worked for DVC. Sadly David left DVC but I'm happy to say he's still a friend.

Of course there are many many people on both the DVC and DCL sides who make all the Magic but these two were a big part of it for us on SSMC05. BTW it was David who taught me to call it SSMC for SS Member Cruise.

The only thing I don't want to repeat from that cruise is docking in Ft. Lauderdale and having to bus back to Port Canaveral.
