09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009

Hi everyone!

I arrived here a couple of days ago, thanks to Mary again for the invite.
I started a facebook group for the 2009 members cruise.
I have been reading your posts and it seems like you all know each other somewhat, so I figured it might be good to introduce myself!

My dh and I have been DVC members since 1996, after coming to Disney World for our honeymoon. We love it!
We live in Ontario, Canada and have 3 kids. Oldest dd is 11, ds is 9, and dd #2 is 4. I am a stay at home mom, just "retired" from homeschooling this september after 3 years. We moved to a different part of Ontario last spring and kids were very interested in the school here. They have made a great transition into the public school.

I am looking forward to getting to know you more online! This seems to be a great group.

Glad you could join the and the . We are a chatty bunch. I have not ventured on to face book yet. Are the kids coming on the cruise or is this mom and dad time.

Hi Alex - so glad you joined the group. Some of us have cruised before but many are new to this group. That is what is so great about the cruise meets forum. You get to meet and greet those you will be sailing with so that by cruise time you'll be sailing with friends you just haven't met in person yet. For example Karen (ohiominnie) and I first met here on the DIS in a cruise meets group for our December 2004 cruise. We've been chatting here on the DIS since June of '03 and have sailed together 4 times already.

I cruise with my best friend who is also my DH Mark (aka MarkRG).

Thanks again for starting the facebook group. A nice combo with this thread. Hopefully through it we'll find some others who didn't know about the DIS and can join us here as well. I love meeting new people.

When the time is near, you can actually just send me the list of who is participating and I'll add a picture of NEMO next to their name and stateroom showing that they are participating in the fish extender exchange. Less paper to worry about.

Okay, auditors are here. It's been a crazy couple of weeks getting ready for them, I was here til 2:30 a.m. this morning. Now, only a week or two until I am done with audit for fiscal year end and I can move forward to a new year! Yippee.

Good morning everyone - happy Thursday!

Did everyone see over on the DVC forum that Disney broke ground at Ko Olina yesterday? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2010614 Mark and I are very excited. We stayed at the Marriott Ko Olina last year and loved it! In fact we actually talked about maybe buying in there. Needless to say when DVC goes on sale there we're in. Our plan is that we'll buy enough points to do a one week stay in a one bedroom every 3rd year.

Right now we have DVC doing a search through II to see if we can get a stay at the Marriott there in early 2010.

Hello fellow DVC Mousketeer Cruisers,

My wife and I are very excited to see that other DISers will be sailing! Our very first Disney cruise was in May 2008 on the Westbound Panama Canal Cruise, where we met many new DIS friends as part of the Ship of Thieves. We are so happy that another group is getting together for this cruise. We became DVC members on the Panama Canal cruise and our home resort is Saratoga Springs. We will be staying at SSR for the first time before and after the cruise. Being from Northern California, we have used our DVC points to stay at the Disneyland Grand Californian. We'll be there in a couple of weeks to see our first Candlelight Procession.

We plan to officially sign up to be a member of this DIS cruise group, but are a bit overwhelmed by the length of this thread and are concerned that we'll miss important group activity announcements. It is difficult to keep up!

We are really looking forward to enjoying a magical cruise with all of you and "meeting old friends for the first time"!

Welcome aboard! Happy to have you join us. As Flo said if you check out the first post in the thread you'll find the base information for the group including how to get to the group web page. We'll keep that updated if any new things come up.

The rest is for chatting and getting to know each other, sharing questions and answers. Some are first time member cruisers and some of us have cruised on the member cruise before.
