Our "kids" are now 18 & 20 and we are just now starting to take vacations without them, and it feels odd. Their schools and work keep them awfully busy. So anyway this will be the first cruise without being with immediate family, so I hope this extended family can handle us.

I know, our kids are 15 & 12, right now. They will be 16 and 13 when we sail. My DH said he will feel guilty about leaving them at home. I don't think I will because they are so involved in school stuff and our oldest will be able to do All State Music contest and the Fall Musical and the youngest won't miss any volleyball. So I won't feel guilty about them missing their school stuff this year.

In fact, I have to be a proud mom right now, last night was the Fall Musical at school and they did "High School Musical" and Becca, my daughter, played Ms. Darbis, the drama teacher. OMG, she did a wonderful job. I didn't know that it was as big a role as it was. When casts lists went up the music teacher told her she couldn't have a singing part because we were going to be gone for a week in October for our Halloween Cruise,:confused3 and that is why she got the part she did. Well, if you ask me, she had a way better part than some of the singing parts and Becca is a really good singer! She definitely had more speaking parts than most. And, again, she was wonderful. I am so proud of her!!!! :cheer2:

We need pictures!

My dd was in High School Musical last year. She LOVED it. She's not the strongest singer, so she was put in the "ensemble." No solos, but lots more stage time than she would have gotten otherwise.

We finally sent in our applications for passports yesterday, and were told the wait time is only around 2 - 3 weeks.

No docs yet, but we received our confirmation docs to Vero Beach within 4 days. (we made that reservation at the same time as the cruise reservation).

So we are staying 1 night at AKV - Kidani on Saturday, DCL shuttle to the port, cruise through Thursday, Enterprise rent a car, (they will pick us up), Vero through Sunday drop off car rental at airport, and then go home to get some rest.
I think my vacation is all set, now all we have to do is wait ... wait ... wait

I know the feeling about no immediate family. This is the first time we will cruise with out my DS (23). He Graduated this past May and now has a full time job. It feels so strange. I do agree at least we will have are DIS friends. Also, since he will not be home we do not have to pay for a pet sitter so this is a plus. He just loves Disney to. So since he can not come with us we are going to go down to WDW for the holidays in December of 2009. We will go down on Saturday but have not decided were we are going to stay yet.

Take care
Flo

Ok, last night I forgot the camera but have some of it on the video camera. I am going to try and go back tonight and sneak in. I heard it is sold out :scared1: Hopefully I can stand in the back. If not, I will try and get pictures after the show!

We got our confirmation from DVC today as well. Now we just have to wait until the 90 day mark and we can do the online check-in for our documents.

I saw the slip inside to check out the website, but the website still has the 2008 info on it. :confused3 Come on DVC get your act together!

Next to the quote button is a "+ button. Click on that button for each post that you want to quote. When you are done, either hit the quote button on the last post that you want to quote or the post reply button.

Okay! So I learned something new today too. :surfweb: I usually open several quote windows and then cut and paste them all into one! Thanks for the short cut! :worship:

Well, we too got our confirmation today and now it's a long wait for any other news or documentation. The member web site insert said that there will be info coming up next spring. Do we have to wait that long?

Also I don't feel so bad that we are leaving our kids behind knowing that there are alot of kids probably planning parties while we are out cruising.

My kids are pretty good, if they decide to throw a party, it will be at someone elses house because my kids hate to clean up.

I don't know if I'm doing this correctly or if it will work here but I actually started a group: 2009 DVC Member Cruise - Are You Going? It is listed under DVC. It doesn't look like anyone else has posted there yet but thought I'd let you know about it. Annmarie
