09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

Good morning everyone! I'm enjoying my first day of a 4 day weekend. Been spending way too much on Facebook but having fun.

I've said so much over there so I won't repeat it except to say you guys were a big part of my year. Especially my sunrise club buddies.

What a wonderful year!

So my wish for all of you is a wonderful 2010! May it be filled with health, happiness and love. If our paths don't cross again in 2010 then here's hoping they will soon!

PDFG and all our friends who need it!

Mark - Have a great time in the World.

Marsha and Sue - My dog is all better he is back to himself. Thanks for asking.

Marsha - As for the job, I still like it. This is a plus. I worked from 4 to 10:30 today. There were a tolal of 4 of us in the building.

Dianne - Here is some :wizard::wizard:for Michael!:grouphug:

I want to wish all my SSM09 friends and Family I would like to wish all of you

Happy New Year

Stay safe and have a good one. May this year be a great year for everyone!

I want to begin by saying the SSMC09 was the highlight of my year. And meeting you all. You all are such caring, supportive, friendly and, of course, Disney fan people! Thank you for being you everybody!

So with that said:
HERE'S WISHING YOU ALL A VERY
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Good morning everyone! I made ball drop in New York but not Chicago. Then I was up for a few hours later in the evening. Happy 2010 everyone!

Wow is it ever cold outside today. They are saying it is -16 with wind chills at -31. :scared1: We are under a wind chill advisory for the day. Brrrrrr. We aren't even to get out of the single digits for the next several days. I love winter. . . . . . . .NOT! :rotfl:

Hope everyone had a great New Year's! We slept it in as usual. Brooke had some friends over and Becca spent the night at friends so it was pretty quite around here. We were gonna go out but decided it was just to cold.

Yesterday I took down all the Christmas decorations. I always hate that. But I did clean out a closet that needed it and now I have a pile of stuff we no longer need/want/use that needs to go to GoodWill. Just need to get a big box. Now if I could go through more of the house and get rid of more stuff. :rolleyes1

Well, stay warm everybody and have a great day! :flower3:

Happy New Year everyone! :banana::banana:

I hope everyone is havign a great holiday weekend! We are in the midst of a 2-3 day snow storm here. Of course the fun part is that since it is a weekend, all I have to do is look out the window and say "Oh how pretty" . This is when I appreciate my condo dues. :rotfl2:

Dianne, more pixiedust: for your husband.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY! (Yes, I'm two days late...but I'm drowning in family since all three daughters and both granddaughters are, and so it's play w/the kids, cook, and clean. :grouphug: Not complaining, just explaining. I consider myself a pretty lucky person in that the kids seem to want to spend time w/us [OK, so maybe it's all the free food :rotfl: ].)

Sue, Dianne, and Marsha, thanks for the birthday wishes.

All of you who are experiencing that arctic cold please be careful out there and stay warm.

Lisa, sounds like you have a good handle on this new year. It'll be such a relief when you finish your classes, I'm sure.

Did I tell you all that we saw Andy Garcia at the MVMCP? He was scheduled to perform at the Candlelight Procession the next day and was touring the MK that night. Oh, and even more impressive, I got Galactic Hero on the Buzz Lightyear ride  . Scored 999,999 points!

Woo Hoo! Way to go Joanne. That is exciting. Brooke got the Toy Story game for the Wii for Christmas this year and I was playing it and boy does your thumb ever get tired. It is fun. But I'm no good at it! :rotfl:

Can't wait for our upcoming trip in a few weeks. I hope it warms up down in Florida by then.

Happy New Year Everyone!!

We made it back from vacation, what a great time we had!! This will definitely be our one and only Christmas at the World. The crowds were just too much. We spent Christmas Day 7am-11pm at the Magic Kingdom. How beautiful it looked. For the first two hours it was pouring rain. Then it seemed to clear up as the day progressed. They told us if we left the park at at we would not be able to get back in, so we ended up not leaving at all. The kids were absolutely exhausted, as we were as well. The fireworks were awesome as always. Our DD14 brought her girlfriend and they met up with my nephew from Orlando (who also stayed with us all week) and we didn't see them much at all for the whole week. Our DD8 had her best friend there as well as we got her family a room at the Coronado for the same time frame.

The only bad things were, yes the crowds, but I have never seen as many rude people as I did this week. People trying to cut bus and ride lines, whining about EVERYTHING, and this was the adults. Kids were stressed to the max, parents would run them ragged and then yell and scream at them for crying, it just never ceases to amaze me. We always tried to choose the less crowded parks and give ourselves some space.

The Osborne Spectacle of Lights was truly a sight to see. I could have just hung out there, listening to music and watching the "dancing" lights. We never got into the Toy Story Mania as the line was never under a 2 hour wait. Twice we went there and the wait was 190 minutes. I don't think they had fastpass at all because we got htere before 10am both sdays and no FP was available either day. We couldn't see waiting over 2 hours to "enjoy" it, so it looks like it will be at the top of our list for next trip.

New Years was great as well, we spent NYE in Animal Kingdom as they close early and don't have fireworks, so most people went to the other parks. It was nice to be able to move around a little freely.

We spent Saturday the 26th at Hollywood Studios and I finally rode Tower of Terror AND Rockin' Roller Coaster. My DD8 and I went on both, she loved Tower of terror, even though it looked as if she was freaked out. I can tell you this though, she will NEVER ride the Rockin' Roller Coaster again. We ended up sitting in the first car and right from takeoff she was screaming, again I thought she was "liking" it but NO, she was absolutely in tears and deathly afarid of it. I felt so bad, I wished I could have stopped it for her. Weird when she loves every other coaster she has ever been on, including all other Disney coasters.

Overall we had a good time, a few occasions of castmembers being very short with me, but I understand at this time of year. The busses were horrible and we tried to avoid them towards the end. On New Years Day my DD8 and I were at Downtown Disney and waited in the pouring rain for 15 minutes for a bus to Saratoga Springs, when the bus showed up the driver said he was heading to break and wait for the next bus. We waited and my DD said she needed to use the restroom, I told her to wait as a bus would be there shortly, the next bus showed and the driver told me he was heading to break as well. I was fuming and he directed me across the parking lot to his supervisor, who got a piece of my mind. It ended up taking almost an hour to get to our room, and yes my DD waited, she was such a trooper this trip.

We arrived back home at 11pm lastnight, 7 hours late due to weather in Worcester MA, we landed in 45 mph winds and snowing, our pilot did an incredible job and got a big ovation from the passengers.

I will try and sort through our photos and post some shots, I was a pirate for most of this trip (we bought the hat with dreads...lol).

Hope everyone is fine and I will read back through to see if i missed anything!!

Greetings everyone from frigid Chicagoland. Can't believe my 4 day weekend is coming to an end but I got a lot done. I have all the 2009 paperwork put away and have also organized my closet and organized the scrapbooks still to be done. Not too bad if I do say so myself.

Welcome back Dave. Glad to hear you had a great time. We've only been there Christmas week once and that was for one night after our 10 day Christmas cruise. It was packed! We went on exactly one ride which was Stitch (it was new then). Try early December sometime. Much more manageable crowds and it still has all the decorations etc.

Welcome back Dave!!!!! To bad about the rude people. Kinda just sets the tone for a while doesn't it. But it sounds like you made the best of it and still had a very nice time. I'll have to be sure and have Bobby read your posts about the crowds and see if he still wants to go someday for Christmas. How'd Tanya and the girls like being there for the Holidays? Do they want to go again someday?

We Love TOT and RnR! Too bad your daughter didn't. I lost my voice on RnR one year with my niece cuz we were screaming so to the music. Fun, Fun, Fun!

Can't wait to see some of your photos. popcorn:: I just love to look at any and all Disney photos. And it is even more fun when they are of people you've met and gotten to know.

Sounds like you guys have just as crappy of weather as we do. This morning on the way to work our truck said it was -13 and we are under a wind chill advisory again. So, stay warm out there!

Hey Everybody! HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! :yay:

Wow it's only been the new year for 4 days and I feel like I missed it! I just can't seem to get caught up on anything!

It was nice to have everyone go back to normal today - DH went to work, DS went to school and middle DS is back in NC - so the house was mine - yippee! I'm exhausted just trying to do things I would normally do! Old age stinks!

Dave - glad to see you are all home safe and sound! Glad you had a good trip, sorry you were so stressed with the crowds and all that goes with them (like rude people!) I love seeing WDW at Christmas time but will never go on the exact holiday - I don't do well with nasty people elbow to elbow - it's just not my personality-type!

Dustin is so excited about being able to bring his friend on this trip - I can't believe it's just tow weeks away already! We're staying at Boardwalk - but as I said before, construction on the theme pool will be starting the day we get there, so I'm not thrilled. Hope it will all be okay.

Yes, Chris, our weather is really pretty nasty lately. It's been really cold and extremely windy. High winds have always made me jumpy. Hope it's done soon, but we are forecast for more snow this Saturday.

Now that everyone is back to where they should be, I will hopefully have more time to pop on and say hi. Every time I sat down at the computer before, somebody else would need it, or just want me to do something else - it was like having someone always looking over your shoulder!!

Off to Scouts tonight!

:flower3: Hi Everyone!!

I was just typing up responses to everyone and commenting on some of the posts and I hit the wrong button and it disappeared. :badpc:

I am not going to start it all over at this point so for now I will just say hello.

Sounds like everyone is doing well and had a nice holiday.

Have a good evening!!

Lisa

Sue - Does Dustin participate in activities at Camp Roosevelt? Is he participating in the Klondike Derby this weekend?

Sue - Hi!!!!! Sorry I didn't respond to your other post but I am really bummed too that we will be missing each other by a day. Darn it! Can't you stay another day???????? I know you can't. Hopefully we will meet up again someday. Do I hear 2011 Member Cruise?????

I'm glad you had a Super Holiday season with your son home and all. I bet you are glad to get things back to normal though. Our girls don't start school until tomorrow because the teachers needed an in-service day today. Don't know what they did for the last two weeks but they still needed today, paaaaalllleeeeeeessssseeeeeee! :sad2: But tomorrow things will get back to craziness around here.

I hope you guys have a fantastic trip to the world in a couple weeks. Hopefully the renovations won't be too bad for you guys. We love going over there and having drinks at the bar by the clown pool. The girls have even pool hopped so they could go down the slide once, or twice or more. They loved it. I hope Dustin and friend are able to have as much fun. I'm excited for you just typing this. Wee Hee!!!!!!

Well, take care and stay warm!!!! :flower3:

Hi Everyone!

I can't believe we are in the year 2010. Time sure does fly.

Yes, as Mary said it has been cold here.

How exciting for Chris and Sue to be going to the world soon.

Dave - Glad you made it back safe and sound.

Robbie- Hope your mom is doing okay.

Joanne-Glad to hear you are still in for the TA, I am looking forward to it!

Thanks Everyone for the Welcome backs!!

Have a good day all.

:coffee: Good Morning Deck 9 Sunrisers & all my Friends :coffee:

Oh it's good to say that because in this cold and wind, I was reeeeeeaaally wishing I was in that bright sun and warm and laughing with all of you!! :)

Trying to get ready for the trip coming up. Met with DS's friend's parents on Sunday and let them know what we were up to on our trip and where we will be staying. Turns out that this is his very first trip to WDW so now we're really excited!! DH just loves to have newbies onboard! His excitement level goes way up because now he just wants to show him EVERY thing - oh, it's going to be a very busy vacation! :rotfl2:

Hi Lisa!! What's new down by you? Glad school is going well - I bet you can't wait to be finished! Our troop has done klondikes in the past, but we are not doing this one. We participated in the last one that was at PHSR so the boys didn't put it in their calendar this year. Are you guys going? Is your DS participating as a Webelo but tagged onto a local troop? The weather looks good so far - cold, but clear! I hope it's fun for him. Please let me know how it goes! :thumbsup2

Hey Dave - how did you like the AKV? What kind of view did you have? Would you stay there again? I always feel like it's so far from everything else.

Today's a "mom" day - take her to the hairdresser and probably take down her pretty light-up tree on the front porch - that is if I can stand being outside for that long - we'll see!
