09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

We were home by 9:30 this morning. Being as we had not eaten for 3 whole hours, we had to stop at McDonald's to grab more food:rotfl2:

The Fish Extenders were so much fun for us. We really enjoyed coming back to our room and seeing how creative all of you are!. We hope everyone enjoyed the tubes of glow stick bracelets we sent out. I will try to do something more creative next time! If we missed anyone, please let me know! I will be glad to mail them to you.

As for the Cruise, we had a huge setback on sunday morning when my stepfather (DSF) passed out. My mom called me, and I had her call 911. He was admitted to the hospital. At 1pm that sunday he was insisting that we still go on the cruise. He was doing better, the stroke workup was negative, so we drove up through blinding rainstorms and barely made it onboard. We arrived to late for the meet at 3pm.

I will admit, we kept a low profile for the cruise, I missed having my parents on board to share everything with them. I used the "Cellular-at-Sea" service a lot. I'm not excited about seeing that bill. So to make this rambling story short, my DSF became the proud owner of his very own pacemaker on Tuesday. He was released from the Hospital on Wednesday.

We are going to get together now, The DVC club gave us all of their gifts to bring home to them. I am also giving them the FE gifts!

I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet everyone. But thank you all for making our trip more memorable with the FE's!

Hey Barb and Ray!, I hope you made it home safe. I will be dreaming of Palo dinners!

Ravonne

Oh, Ravonne, I am sorry you had a hard time on the cruise, but I am glad your DSF is ok!

I got home earlier today and had a great time. I didn't meet as many of the Disers as I would've liked though. I missed the Promanade Lounge meet the first day, so I kind of felt out of the loop after that.

I'm so sorry I didn't meet more of our Dis friends. I can't believe I never got to say hi to Mary, Mark or Flo. I really wanted to thank them for all of their hard work.

Hi! we had a great time too! We saw lots of Dis-ers, but half the time I couldn't connect the names to the Dis names! But I agree with the FEgifts! I put them all on our pool table and took some photo's of them. I hope they turned out ok. I'll post them tomorrow, maybe.

We just got to Jacksonville(my brothers house). The gifts were kind of disapointing, guest not as good as last year. We did add on again and are booked for next year :cool1:.

Also we won one of the $500 gift cards for the member challenge in the disney files magazine. Nice surprise at the end of the trip. :rotfl::rotfl:

Overwelmed by the amount of stuff form the FE's this year. Thanks to everyone for the interesting gifts(havent gone through them all yet but all look great).

Congrats on the gift card. I didn't even know about the challenge until the last night because I didn't read the DisneyFiles Magazine right away. What was I thinking? I guess I learned my lesson for the next Member's Cruise!

And I totally understand about the FE gifts. I was a bit overwhelmed myself. But it sure was fun and the kids can't wait to dig in and start sorting through it all.

I must be pretty easy to please since this was my first Member's Cruise because I loved the gifts. I felt like it was Christmas every night. But then again, I don't have anything to compare it to other than a "regular" cruise.

I wish I were able to add on just so I could be booked on next year's sailing. I'm so jealous! But I know I need to wait to get those Hawaii points!

we made it home in one piece. we had a 6pm flight but got to the airport at 8:30. I missed my son so bad that we paid way too much to get an 11am flight home. We had a nice time on the cruise. my pregnancy tiredness seemed to really kick in though as i was not as active as i had hoped to be. i am so sorry that i didn't get to meet many other disers but the fish extender was really fun. I will make sure to step it up a bit next time as well. Thank you to all those that participated.
we have never cruised at all before so we loved the gifts especially the clock. we probably won't be back for a few years and next time with the kids.
we did add on though and got to have dinner with Bill Farmer and got the snow white artwork. that was cool for us!
anyway i am going to bed now. night all.

The DISers are really what make the cruise for us. Thanks to all who came to the Beach Club and Promenade lounge meets. Hope you all enjoyed them as much as we did.

Thanks to the early morning coffee club. What a blast I had with you all and special thanks to Susie for the great club buttons.

Thanks to our beach buddies Annmarie, Tom, Karen and Mary. We really enjoyed the time we spent with you all. Special thanks to Annmarie and Tom for saving the are for us on Wed. and letting us use their floats.

Thanks to our very good friends the Patrick;s who shared dinner with us every night. They are proof that you can make lifelong friends from a message board. We first started talking to Karen back in 2003 for the 2004 10 day cruise.

We also had a great time at the Jimmy Buffet meet for Gary. Great fun. Gary when you see the second part of the video (which Mark will most likely put up when we get home) we have no idea of who that woman is who danced through the song. Just a Jimmy fan I guess who wanted to be on stage with us. :)

Thanks for the FE gifts - we had great fun and were blown away by so many of them.

Last, but not least, thanks for all the interaction with had with so many of you. Joining you for a presentation or show or just stopping and chatting.

PDFG and all our friends who need it. Garry BTW will be at CC tomorrow as they are on the 7 night. Hope he has as wonderful day as we did on Wednesday.

The picture and video are wonderful!!! I'm glad you had a good time. Can't wait to see the rest of the video!

I'm glad you all had a good time despite repeat gifts and less than stellar guests. I'm ready for when they announce the booking date for next year. :goodvibes

Just wanted to say hi. Finally made it back home about an hour ago.

It was great to meet you guys. I can't believe all the things that we received in the fish extender exchange. It was fun.

take care

Anyone still rocking back & forth?

Barb & I want to thank Mary & Flo for all the planning they did for us DIS'ers, they made our cruise special. I really enjoyed the Promenade meet and I think everyone knew my stateroom number before I did...(you had to be there).
We really enjoyed having dinner with Mike, his DD and DSIL, Shiloh & Patrick and thier DS's Grant and Ethan.

DVC gifts were okay, but the FE's were more fun, especially the ducks. No matter what the gift was, it was still special to know they came from someone we met online.

My highlight was meeting and getting an autograph from Bill Farmer.

Good morning everyone - happy Friday!

Flo - glad to see you made it home ok.

Ray - thanks for being such a good sport about the room number. :)

Today is our last day here at WDW. Our plan was Magic Kingdom, lunch and Kona and then meeting up with the Patrick's for Hollywood Studios and a tour of their home. My ankle locked up something awful last night after getting home from illuminations (all the walking/standing finally caught up with me. A soak in the jacuzzi tub helped but it still isn't back to normal so we'll see how the day goes. At least we'll be back in late November.

It was good to meet up with everyone at the Meets this year. DW and I are spending our Friday at HS and then to the MNSSHP this evening. Tomorrow it is an early drive back to Indiana.

Looking forward to next years sailing of the SS Member Cruise. I do agree with everyone that the gifts and the guests were not as goos as last years and from what I hear last year was not as good as years previous. (This was only our second SS Member Cruise / Cruise Period).

Anyone else looking at the 15 day sailing through the Panama Canal in January 2011?

Everyone have a good day. :cool1:

Hey when does the thread for the 2010 SS Member Cruise get started? :rotfl2:

GoodMorning Everyone!!

Back at work today, but I just have to say, we had the best cruise that we ever had. We met some of the nicest people ever. I think my DW now understands why I go on the DIS and chat with everyone first. What a great bunch of people. It really made up for whatever the DVC team failed to produce, not that it was bad but DVC set a very high bar on previous cruises, and this one didn't make the "bar" (but I did:drinking1:rotfl2:).

So thank you everyone for being a part of my favorite cruise!!:cool1::woohoo::yay:

We have made plans to go BtB from LA to Vancouver and then on the inaugural Wonder Alaska cruise! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:Also a "dummy" date for the inaugural sailing of the Disney Dream!:banana::banana:
nothing like planning FAR FAR in advance! Now we have our vacations planned for 2010 and 2011. Soon we'll have to be thinking about 2012! Good grief! that seems so far away. But when I think about the Panama Repo cruise we did in 2008, we planned almost 2 years in advance for that one, too. :dance3::dance3::dance3:

Oh if anyone got random candy in their fish extenders on Decks 6 or 7 that was me! I had loads of it from the Halloween party at WDW the Friday before-thought I would pass out some treats to people!! Hope you all enjoyed!!! THANK YOU FOR THE CANDY! WE WONDERED WHO OUR CANDY FAIRY WAS! i GUESS IT WAS AN ELF!

pirate:

P.S. Also did NOT like the "Drawn to Vacation" sales presentation...the event said it was a montage of animation, did not realize I was going to an hour long sales pitch....

Me either! I thought it was ridiculous! they made such a big deal about going to it. I noticed the little children were getting so antsy after about 50 minutes. Our son, Patrick, who is in the wheelchair has a mental age of about 4years old. He was blocked into the disabled viewing area and we couldn't get him out. Poor thing, he was so BORED! We managed to talk to him, so he would be relaxed until the end, but he refused to go to any more "shows like that one!"

I just did a check of eBay to see if anyone has listed any of the gifts from SSMC09 yet and I was not able to find anything. I'm curious what value these clocks will have. I like them a lot, but I'm not sure they are worth that much. I just figured to give my extras as gifts to friends and family, but if they go for enough, maybe they can help finance my next cruise.

i thought the same thing last year. Because we get 8 of everything:scared1:
But ended up gieing them as gifts to family and friends. :santa::santa:

You all, are wonderful people, we feel so blessed to have shared these times with you. Mary and Mark thanks for the buttons they are awesome. And the fish extenders, glad we did it also..it was sooooooooo much fun. Thanks to everyone.

I am posting from the Boardwalk, DH is not feeling well and taking a nap. Just me, pizza and diet coke:rotfl::rotfl:

We had a very exciting morning. We made reservations last night for breakfast at Cat Coras new resturant, When we arrived for breakfast this morning only to find out, they were taping and interview with for ABC now, called Chef's Table.

We had to sign a models release so they could include us in the taping. They said it will air in a couple of weeks.:yay::woohoo::banana::cool1:

We also had a photo taken of her with us..and she signed our copy of the receipt.:wizard:I think we just had a magical moment. Its the first time I have had chicken sausage or sweet potato hash, and they were great. It was a little pricey for breakfast, but worth the cash.

We will go home tomorrow late afternoon :guilty:
