I know what you mean...I would get a lot more at 65...and if I am feeling well and things are good, I will stay..
Hot dogs were great...had a good time.

Our youngest daughter is doing great, clean going on 4 years. She is married and has a 2 year old. If ever anyone thinks it would never happen to their family, addiction knows no boundaries. I never dreamed as a nurse that any of our children would have become an addict. But it happened. And for almost 2 years we were looking for her, and found out she was in Philadelphia, homeless and alone, going from shelter to shelter, crack house to crack house...and it took a lot of prayer, lots of prayer for me to survive that ordeal. DH used to walk the streets of the worst area in Phila on Fri and Sat nights looking for her, and asking dealers, pimps and prostitutes and police if they knew her. I was told to check the morgues in Phila by the Phila detectives...and each time I thought I could not take one more day of the pain of losing my daughter, I would get a glimmer of hope..a momentary phone call from her or someone and then she would disappear again. But the man she married took her in off the streets and sent her home to us...she went through her 3rd rehab, but really wanted to survive this time, to a half way house and then she got married and the rest is a happy story.
I thank God every day for saving her. When she was gone, I used to just pray that God would keep her alive. And my prayer was answered.

So there you have it.

Susan

That is an amazing story. I am so glad that it had a happy ending.

Oh, me too. Sue, I can't imagine the internal strength you must have to have to come through that. They say that whatever doesn't kill you makes you strong; well, you must be made of steel. It's wonderful that everything worked out in the end.

Finally got through all the posts. Wow.

Sorry for those who have had a rough time with kids, cancer, drugs etc. We are not without some of those in our family too. And it is hard. Which I hate to say is getting harder every day. Lost my father in law in Jan 2008 to lung cancer, and almost a year to the day we found out my brother in law has brain cancer and now, just this week, my mother in law has colon cancer. So, yeah, sorry, I'm bummed. :sad1:

Sue - so glad you found your daughter. I couldn't even begin to imagine your struggles. Bless you.

Congrats to all the winners of the :bride: and pirate:. Wish I could have been around to participate.

Postage on CC you have to buy while there. And let me tell you, they are definitely on Bahamian time. Last time I mailed a postcard from there it took exactly a month to get to my office. So be sure to take some dollars with you to mail anything from CC and then be prepared to wait on the receiving end. :)

Well, I'm glad I got through all the posts tonight. Hope to be able to get on in the morning.

Night.

I got through all of the posts! :surfweb: I think that there are some pretty awesome people out here, and I can't wait to meet all of you!

Tonight won't be a late night for me though- in fact, I hope it is still tonight when I get in bed... I'm going to the doctor with my mom in the morning. She had foot surgery, and is hoping to get the ok for a walking boot in the morning!

After the appointment, we are off to the Brookfield Zoo! (We spend a lot of time there). This time my mom and Dad will be there with us... I can't remember the last time I was at the zoo with MY parents! :yay: I think I was probably very small and running around!

Talk to you tomorrow afternoon- I'm sure I will have lots to catch up on!

Happy Birthday Marsha

Good morning everyone - happy Wednesday. Another chatty night last night. Let me see if I can help with some of the questions.

So on pirate night, do you wear your pirate outfit to dinner or just dress in it for the party?

We always have. Remember that there is going to be a group pirate picture taken in the atrium between first and second seating dinner. See Linda's mini navigator for the exact time. Plus be on time because it happens very fast since it is taken right outside Triton's and other photography is going on. It is a great souvenir.

speaking of the pirate party- is there NO WAY to find out which night this will be? I have those Palo reservations for the same time as our regular dinner time- and I totally do NOT want to miss the pirate party... but I can't cancel my Palo reservations within 3 days without getting charged... but I don't know which day the party is? :confused3 Whats a girl to do?

It has always been on Monday night on past member cruises. That is the day of our first CC visit.
We got our cruise docs today!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Ready to go!!!

Hey, they have information in there on tips. I thought they were included, so do we or don't we tip the usual suspects (waiter, stateroom attendent, etc)?

Also, I'm hearing there are no formal nights :thumbsup2 but what is the dress code (for men or boys at heart) at Palo for dinner? Do I have to pack a jacket and tie or do I just need one or the other??

We leave next Friday and can't wait, is it too early to be on "vacation mode"??

Congrats on getting your docs. What you got with them is the standard DCL forms. Tips are included for this sailing since it is a charter. You will still get the tip envelopes as well as coupons for the tips. You can of course add more. As for Palo for dinner you would be fine with a dress shirt and tie with or without a jacket.

I have another question:

what time zone is Castaway Cay. if its 10:00 pm CST..what time is it there?:surfweb:

I believe it is either Eastern or one hour before that. So at 10 pm CST it would be either 11 pm or midnight. Of course that time we wouldn't be at CC any longer. :)

I know what you mean...I would get a lot more at 65...and if I am feeling well and things are good, I will stay..

Susan I can only imagine the pain you and your family must have gone through with this. So glad to hear it has a happy ending because many times that scenerio doesn't. Good for you for not giving up on her.:grouphug:

does anyone know, is there a place to change clothes on castaway cay. or do you have to go back to the ship to change?

There are restrooms you could change in. We just wear our suits off the ship with t-shirts over them and later just head back to the ship to shower and change.

So... what will happen if there is a hurricane coming when we are supposed to be on our cruise? I didn't get insurance for the trip, cuz I figured I be there come hell or high water- didn't quite mean it literally. :confused3

If a hurricane is ever in the path of the ship the captain will divert to another location. We've always bought insurance because you never know what will happen during hurricane season. In 2005 the cruise was effected by hurricane Ophelia. It impacted our stay at CC a little bit (it had gone over it the day before) and it had us diverted to Ft. Lauderdale. DCL was great and had all their porters come to Ft. Lauderdale as well as a fleet of buses. We then had a 2-3 drive back to Port Canaveral.

Do they put together a cruise dvd of differnent things that happened, and sell it to everyone?

I know other cruise lines do this, but DCL does not.

Castaway Cay- postage?

Can I use my own stamps or do I need to buy postage there?

No you must use Bahamian stamps that are purchased at the post office.

its that time

Congrats Sue on the :bride:

hi!! I bet I miss this again!

Congrats Carrie on the pirate:

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day

For an early morning wake-up to a late night before bed snack you only have to pick up the phone. That's right room service is available 24 hours a day.

For a continental breakfast or your morning coffee you can hang your order outside your door. Or how about a mid-day treat? Don't forget milk and cookies before bed.

Here's the tip. Before you leave home collect one dollar bills in a small envelope. Keep this near the door (there is a small chest of drawers right next to the closet and we keep ours in the top drawer). Now you'll always have a dollar or two for tipping room service.

Want to be more inventive? Take dollar coins or $2 bills.

Congrats to the :bride: and pirate: winners.

Mary - Funny you mentioned the 2 bill. I told Danny that what is what I think I am going to get for Room Service. You still can get them at banks right?

take care and have a great day.

yes you can, sometimes you need to request them a few days in advance, in case they need to order them in for you.
