09/12/10 - DVCers Take Over the Wonder (S.S. Member Cruise 2010) - Thread #1

Hugs are fine with me. :thumbsup2

Last year, we were in WDW in Feb. '09 with our extended family. Another person who I had been chatting with on the '09 member cruise thread was there at the same time. We were both staying at AKV. She saw DH and went up to him & siad "hello" & then came over to me and we gave each other a hug like we were old friends who had not seen each other in a long time. This was our first face-to-face meeting. DH was wondering who was this strange woman. The other family members was wondering the same thing too. Once I told DH how we "knew" each otherhe explained to the other folks. It was a funny moment.

On the cruise, DH would come back to the room and tell me people were saying hello to him on the elevators or in the halls and calling him by his name. He knew it had to be my DIS buddies.

:lmao: I just read this to Wally and he says, "So people I've never seen might say Hi to me? Ok, I gotta remember to expect random hello's from the Disers." He seemed to like that idea

I am terrible with remembering names and faces. As it is I keep a cheat sheet at my desk for Dis names = real names :rotfl: I will be carrying a print out of the DVC Hutsell web page gallery of pictures :thumbsup2

I am a hugger too - raised in an Italian family - I had to be careful when I started social work - you know there are boundries - :scared1::confused3:lmao::lmao:!!!!

I am glad there are other huggers!!

I know what you mean about the boundaries :rotfl2: The other day I went to teach an OSHA class for a company in Miami. When I got there and met the supervisor for the first time in person (he is Latino too) we shook hands, gave a hug and kiss on the cheek all in one smooth motion. It was completely natural and I thought to myself, well this would never happen at one of my Boca Raton companies :lmao:

I am glad to know there are other huggers too

DH is getting used to me talking about you all - he laughs when he doesn't know a name I say and says they must be from "your disney chats"!!!

Wally does the same thing!

See we dont get that problem since we do competitive chatting here in our house. Heck even our daughter is on these boards chatting about Disney, or er....she was. She originally wanted to have a Disney wedding till most of her family burst her bubble and told her that they would not be there if it was in Disney. :confused3 I do have family members that cant travel that far so actually most of them are right.

Oh well, in our household we are all disney nuts!! :rotfl2:

I have started a thread two (as soome of you have discovered). For the others who have yet to discover it, the link is in the first post of this thread. But, keeping chatting on this thread until it is closed down. Someone can still earn a :bride: or pirate: on this thread.

Definitely tell Wally to be prepared for us Disers to come up to him and say hello.

Hi everyone....remember me.

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted.

Congrats to all who won :bride: and pirate:

Belated Happy Birthdays to all I've missed.:bday::cake:

Belated Happy Anniversarys to all..:flower3:

Michael and I are looking forward to the cruise. Time is really going by quickly. We became grandparents in March to a beautiful little girl. Love her so much. Her name is Brianna and she will be 4 months old.

A couple of weeks ago our German Shepherd Brando died. He was 11 years old...2 months shy of 12 years. We are heart broken. We miss him so much. We know he is in a better place now. Terrie you had posted to someone a while back who had lost their beloved pet....Rainbow Bridge....thank you for sharing that.

We will be shipping some of our things to the port so we don't have to carry too much in our suitcases. If anyone would like the address...let me know. We shipped our fish extender gifts, a small fan and some other odds and ends to the port last year and when we got to our cabin...the box was there.

Have a great day and take care.

Hi Monika! So glad to see you here again. Congrats on the grandaughter. I bet you are enjoying her to pieces and not spoiling her at all. ;) But then again, that's what grandparents do.

So sorry to hear about Brando. It is always so hard to lose a pet.

Hope to see you on here more now that we are getting closer to the cruise.
I really can't wait to meet everyone! It is one of the top things I am looking forward to :goodvibes

Fair warning, I am a hugger :grouphug: I know some people don't do hugs and will  over the thought  If your not a hugger give me advance warning :thumbsup2 In my culture (Cuban) we were brought up to give perfect strangers a kiss on the cheek upon first meeting them :love1: Don't worry I won't be doing that to anyone... well maybe Ian to freak him out, he totally deserves it for torturing me :rotfl2: but a hug comes pretty natural to me

Terrie :)

Hugs work for me! In fact I have a remembrance from last years cruise with Marsha. She and Corey were standing in front of the elevators there mid ship waiting for one when we walked by and it was like Hi Marsha, Hi Chris and I think both of our DH's were like, huh????? I think we even gave each other a hug (do you remember this Marsha?) For some reason this just sticks with me. :)
DH is getting used to me talking about you all - he laughs when he doesn't know a name I say and says they must be from "your disney chats"!!!

My DH always says what is everyone talking about now. Doesn't know names just that we chat and I talk about you guys and tell him what is going on.

Too bad for your daughter. :sad2: Could she maybe get married at Disney and have the reception at home at a later date? Just thinking out loud.

I do remember. DH did not realize how many people I had been chatting with for almost a year. Like I said it just felt like a reunion of friends.

Welcome back Monika - good to see you again. Oh how much fun you must be having with your new granddaughter :cutie:! I too am sorry to hear about Brando :flower3: it is such a hard thing to lose a beloved pet.

Yep it was pretty crazy on here last night after everyone went to sleep. I think perhaps Terrie and I may have been suffering from some sleep deprivation with how silly we got on our posts. But it was a fun time. I, like everyone else, am looking forward to meeting everyone. And I also keep Erik aware of our main threads of conversation on here. He's better with names and faces than I am so don't be surprised if he remembers names quicker than I do. I too have used a cheat sheet for Disneymeets so I'll be studying mine on the plane ride down. I'm OK with hugs and random hellos but if I don't seem to spot you before you spot me please say hi as I can be a bit shy initiating conversation. But once the talking begins I'm all good. I can't believe it's only 49 days till we leave!

Marsha thanks for starting thread 2! Woo Hoo we did it gang!

Aww I love Disney weddings, though I'm kinda partial. I will say we had a big party when we got home for all our family that couldn't go - which was a lot of people since we both have big families. And though it stunk not having certain people there the day of - like our grandmothers who just couldn't travel - we got to spend lots of special moments and make lots of special memories with our friends and family there. Then we got to have even more fun and share the love with everyone else back home.

OK I posted on the new thread so I had to come back here just to be sure we finish this one out - did I mention that I am OCD???

That being said I am good with faces and names, am not shy at all and will talk to anyone!!! Our photo isn't in the gallery - I sent it - WHY AM I NOT THERE?!?!?!?!;) Maybe I should send it again???

Yes, send your picture again. Milford probably did not see it.

And, thank you for coming back here so that we can close this thread out.

The weekend is almost here! I do not have any plans except my normal routine of housework. It is supposed to be a hot one here. Saturday is supposed to be in the 100 with a heat index of 110. Say it ain't so. I will be sitting in the air conditioner. Thank God for central air.

Anyone have any plans for the weekend?

Hi Monika!! Welcome back! Congratulations on the new granddaughter! I remember how excited my mom was when we had our first child. I'm not ready to be a grandparent yet, but sometimes I wish my kids were older so I could be past this bratty stage they're in! lol

Sorry to hear about Brando. We're facing that day any time now with our dog, Pooh Bear. She's 16 years old now and my gosh is she showing her age! I'll sure miss her when she goes, she's been SUCH a good dog!

I can't wait to meet everyone, too! The last cruise I went on we had a bunch of people on the thread, but nobody seemed to "click" when we got on the ship. There's one person I actually keep in touch with on Facebook. She is such a fun person! I would love to join her and her family on another cruise someday. I think this group of DISers/DVCers will all get along great on the ship!

OMG that's HOT!! :scared1: I think we have a forecast of mid 90's, so it will be HOT here too. Once it hit's 90's, hot is hot. Just like once it hits 40's, cold is cold!

My sister is having her bridal shower on Saturday. We're supposed to get together with my mom on Sunday to celebrate her birthday. And I guess that means I'll be cleaning house tomorrow night! :sad2:

Good Morning everyone! TGIF! I hope everyone has a WONDERful & blessed day.

63 bottles of rum on the wall, 63 bottles of rum, take one down and pass it around.....

Marsha - sounds like you are going to be getting the heat we have been having. At 10:00 last night the TV still had the heat index up over 100 degrees! :scared1: Man is that hot. Stay inside and enjoy the air this weekend.

Ian - Congrats on second place. Sounds like you had a good time, and welcome back home! :yay:

We have no big plans for the weekend. Just hanging out by the pool. I had a great uncle pass away yesterday so I suppose sunday night may be visitation that I will have to go to. Don't know yet for sure. My Mom will let me know. But other than that, nothing.

62 bottles of rum on the wall!

Wow I never thought of that. I think we have a great group on here. I imagine many of us will keep in touch with one another after the crusie. I am sure some of us will probably be on next year's cruise, on the Dream :cloud9:

Yikes that is HOT! We are supposed to be at around 88º all weekend. I will be grooming my personal dogs and one client dog (grand puppy) this weekend. Gotta make some extra money for spending on the crusie  I also have to go into the office at work to pack up all my stuff. We are moving to another location and I have classes all week so no time to do it during work hours :sad2: I am sure we will make some time to go to the movies this weekend.

All that talk about Johnny Depp must have stayed in my subconscious since I had a dream about him last night. Nothing steamy  I dreamed I was in an elevator and he walked in with Helena Bonham Carter :cutie:

61 bottles of rum on the wall, 61 bottles of rum...take one down, pass it around...
