Scott, so sorry to hear about all the rain and the bad experiences at BLT. You should express your concerns to the manager of BLT...maybe he/she doesn't even know that these issues are happening. There are a bunch of us staying there after the cruise...if they are still having problems "spreading the magic" around we'll take care of them!

Also, do you know WHY there is sand on the bottom of the pool at Beach Club? We learned all about it several years ago. This is what they told us: When they originally built it, they wanted to give guests the feeling of actually being at the beach so there were fish swimming in the pool along with you. But they could never get the filtration system to work right and the fish kept dying. So, they did away with the fish but left the sand.

Well, I'm off to try and figure out what I'm going to get my family to do together today since we have nothing else going on (this is a first this summer!).

That is an interesting tidbit. Swimming with the fish. I don't know about that. For me it is ok at Castaway Cay but not at a pool.

I've been reading that many of you are renting a car at the airport to go one way to the port. Besides being on your own are there any other advantages? I assume you need to pu your luggage and take it with you to the car rental. What about once you get to port? My 84 year old mother is coming with us-which means we schlep her luggage too. Is anyone taking the Disney bus? We are arriving around 10:00.

Question-On the cruise line Disboards many people said that their door magnets and FE were stolen or the FE gifts were taken out of their FEs. What is a good time to go around and give out our gifts?
Thanks again -the heat wave finally broke a little here-we hit record highs-now we are hoping for rain everything turned brown and my flowers look so sad. We've had brush fires due to thrown out cigarette butts!!

We are driving our own car to the port and parking there.

In regards to the FEs & magnets being stolen, I think that is more likely to happen when there are a lot of children (teenagers) on the ship. On this cruise, there is a low number of children. We did not have a bad experience but I believe one person's FE "floated away."

I am not sure when the best time to deliver FE gifts. I delivered my FE gifts one night after midnight & another time before disembarking for CC. I think another good time may be right before dinner.

That being siad, there are some things that can be done to keep your magnets and FE from being stolen.

FISH EXTENDER
1. Personalize your fish extender so there will be less chance for it to “float away.”

2. Secure your fish extender with a cable tie to the fish outside your stateroom door.

3. Put labels on the back saying "Stolen from the XXXX Family"

MAGNETS
1. Visit the creative DISigns board or cruise magnets thread to request magnet designs.

2. Use magnets to help identify your door.

3. Personalize your magnets so they will not “float away.”

4. Put labels on the back saying "Stolen from the XXXX Family" or “This magnet belongs to room # xxxx.”

5. Magnets that have name and room number on them are less likely to disappear.

WE ARE TAKING DISNEY BUS FROM OKW TO PORT AND BACK. ITS CHEAPER IF YOU RENT A CAR IF YOU HAVE AT LEAST 4 PEOPLE. LAST TIME WE ENDED UP RENTING CAR. I CANCELLED OUR DISNEY BUS TO PORT A COUPLE WEEKS EARLIER. WELL THEY SAID I HADNT. BY THE TIME I RECANCELLED IT WAS TOO LATE. YOU HAVE TO CANCEL I THINK ITS A DAY AHEAD. SO THAT COST US AN EXTRA $300 SINCE WE HAD RENTAL. I WAS SURE I CANCELLED A COUPLE WEEKS BEFORE . THEY STILL CHARGE YOU UNLESS YOU CANCEL AT LEAST DAY BEFORE. THE CAR RENTAL COMPANIES WILL DRIVE YOU TO AND FROM THE SHIP. THEY DROP YOU RIGHT OFF AT THE FRONT . YOU JUST WALK PAST THE 90 YEAR OLD SECURITY GUARD SLEEPING IN THE CHAIR. IF I FIND PHOTO I WILL SHOW YOU

i wonder how often the fe gifts get stolen. Must not be that often or people would stop doing it. We have never done it before. Ive seen all the doors just cant imagine people stealing stuff. Must be kids.

hi Ian I'm here. It finally rained here, so I went outside to weed for awhile since the ground was damp. I can tell from your posts that you love your yard too. We will stick with the bus from MCO to port. My DH will go back to MCO after the cruise to pu the rental car-we need a big--- van since there will be 8 of us-only the airport has those vans, so we were told. My DM, DS, DDIL, and myself will take the bus to OKW while my DD, DSIL, DGD,[who are driving down from GA] and DH will eventually meet us there. Hoping to be in a villa by Turtle Pond. Just made a coffee and Baileys-this one is for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been lurking off and on this evening. Everyone must be out enjoying the cooler weather (ok at least its cooler here in Indiana).

I can't enjoy it because I caught a common cold. I have allergies and when it gets really dry out I get suceptable to catching things like the cold.

May be on later unless this cold medicine knocks me out for the night!

Well back about 11:30pm thursday and supposed to be playing baseball today but rain causing issues. Trying to catch up but will probably take the weekend to do it. Had a nice trip a lot of rain and not the afternoon dump and then sun but rain rain rain. Ruined our pool time but still had a nice trip especially since we were down with good friends. Fireworks were impressive on the 4th and the new fireworks at Mk were awesome. Was not impressed with new parade but found out they did not run full parade during the rain. Went back another night and the parade was good. A lot of empty floats the first night. Did not get to see my favorite show (fantasmic) since they are only showing it certain nights and the rain and our schedule blew that. Went to see La Nouba and it was great. The chinese girls were unbelievable!

Stayed at Beach Club first 5 nights and we love that place. Did get one pool day and night and love the sand covered bottom of the pool. Stayed the other nights at BLT. Our room was nice 14th floor center looking over the pool. Not trying to sound negative but did not feel the magic. No one to greet you, friends tried to get another pillow and were told NO? Tryng to get to the lounge upstairs is a pain in the butt. I don't understand why the room key does not work. We had to go to the center of blt talk to the guy at the desk. Then it felt like it was an inconvenience for him to get up and send us up to the 16th floor. If the pool bar is closed and it was closed every night by the time we got back from the parks you have to go to contemporary to get drink cups filled. Without a doubt though the worse part is the bugs. They were bad at the pool and at the doors. The hot tub was full of dead misquitos. I just felt like BLT was a hotel with no employees just left for people to sleep. They need to make some changes or we will not be back. Maybe it is worth it if you get a MK view. Wishing we would of spent our money on Animal kingdom instead! Ok gotta run there is good stuff from our trip and I will talk about that later.

Scott - sorry to hear that BLT was not that great for you. I am hoping for great things while we are there. We purchased points there last year on the Members Cruise and have not stayed there yet and are so looking forward to staying there.

You can always take your mom to the port and leave the luggage then take the car back to the rental place and catch the shuttle back to the port and not have to schlep the luggage around. Easy Peasey.

As for the FE, we have never participated in one and I really don't have a comment. Just, have fun.

I HAVE ALLERGIES , I HARDLY GET COLDS IN WINTER BUT I HAVE PROBLEMS IN LATE SPRING TO FROST. THIS IS BAD AREA FOR ALLERGIES AND ASTHMA. IT WAS STILL 88 TODAY AND SUNNY. WATERED YARD FROM POOL ITS USUALLY HUMID HERE. WE ARE BETWEEN LAKE ONTARIO AND LAKE ERIE.

A couple of times the balls would hit our villa-this happened while I was sitting on the deck drinking my coffee-FORE

we stayed for the first time at pennisular in mar. We have stayed everywhere at okw except there. Its handy to main building.

It is up to you. You do not have to put the receiver's name on it and you do not have to put your name on it though I think most people do. I did not put anyone's name on the gifts last year but I did put my name on them.

The only thing we didnt like about our 2 bedroom was the 1 door axcess to the main bathroom and 1 door to laundry room, we had a 6 year old who liked to explore. Locked our clothes in laundry room in dryer with no way in FUNNY NOW NOT AT THE TIME
