Welcome Spocky! I am so excited that you're going to attend your first Disney cruise with this fine group of happy sailors! :thumbsup2

I have a few thoughts on dress code. Honestly on my last cruise people weren't nearly as dressed up as I expected. Formal night was the only night I saw really formal attire, and for the most part that was dresses or suits for women and suits for men and costumes or princess dresses for kids. For regular nights most people wore pants and tshirts or polo shirts. Women wore sundresses or capri pants and shirts. I wore pretty casual clothes, like capri pants and plain knit shirts, but dressed them up a bit with jewelry. It was pretty casual overall though. I think some people may even have been wearing shorts and no one told them not to. I think the dress codes are a suggestion, not a requirement.

I think most of the alcoholic beverages on board, including beer, were pretty cheap, as in $5 or less. I consider that cheap because where I'm from you can't go to a bar without paying at least $6-7 for a cocktail! When I'm doing my cruise budget I budget in beverages at $5 per drink. That usually accounts for the drink and the auto tip added to alcoholic beverages.

And last but not least, it's cool that you are obsessing about your Disney cruise, in fact here on the DIS we consider that behavior downright NORMAL. :rotfl:

Hi...
I guess Im the kind of person who will do "all in one" all inclusive package. I booked everything thru DCL. Flight/Hotel/Port/Cruise. Everything is booked... all but our excurtions, and that starts on 10 June for us !:cool1:
Im not sure what the price of transfers are... someone here might know.

THANK YOU for that idea.. might be better prices that way..

Just bumping us up a bit!:)
Im not sure what the transfers prices are. On my paper work, it's all rolled into one price with the air fare.

Hey Lois,
Yes I did get thru, oh my gosh I called in Monday morning at 7:00a.m. which was really 4:00a.m. where I live. And I sat on hold for 43 minutes before I got to speak to a cm. But WhooooHooooo yes I got what I had hoped for. SO I was very happy. I had my own quiet celebration and went back to bed for 2 more hours, then got up and went to work. My co workers think I'm insane. Hahahaha If they only knew I saved almost $400. So we are officially going Sept. 4 - 8. We did decide with the free dining to upgrade to Wilderness Lodge. I'm super excited. I'm glad to hear you got thru as well, did you get what you wanted?

How exciting! Have you ever stayed at the Wilderness Lodge before? Did you get standard, woods view, or courtyard?

I tried to go back and read some posts to catch up and saw one about the pillow cases. Just a tip**** I found (for my son) the coolest Pirates of the Caribbean Pillow case that is one you can color on, it comes with color crayons, anyway it was $9.99 at Michaels. Thought I'd put my "find" out there for anyone interested. I'm thinking of getting his name embroidered on it as well. So I do have a question.... I'm to just drop this thing off at Guest Services on the ship right? And I'm bringing pens, the crayons are not gonna cut it. And so do we pick it up when they are done signing it?

Never stayed there before. We booked woods view. I figured that would be something interesting. I wanted that woodsy feeling I guess. The pic's i've seen on the dis are beautiful. I'm so excited to stay there.

Thanks Stina

I keep asking questions. Do i have to book excursions in advance or can i book them on board?

I would advise to book them in advance. You can do that on line. The reason is that some of the more popular one can fill up before the cruise. The less you need to rush to do once on board the better at least for me. How dose everyone else feel? Lois

I didn't call right away and was not on hold as long as you. All I did was add the free dining to what I already had. I am pleased. Anything that will save a few dollars. Lois

I don't do excursions through the cruise line so I can't comment. If booking through the cruise line your advice is right on.

Hi everyone,
My partner Catherine and I will be sailing with all of you nice folks. We will be celebrating our second wedding anniversary! We are so excited about the journey that we can hardly stand it! Sept. cannot come soon enough. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions about Cozumel? Thanks so much and see you all soon!
Kathleen

I would say if you are booking excursions through DCL book them in advance. But as I recall from my last cruise which was this same Sept. week exactly 2 years ago, that the excursions we took were not filled up. So there's always an opportunity to add an excursion. But if you really want a specific excursion at a specific time book ahead.

Welcome Joan of Arc! Cozumel is great if you like shopping. They have the BEST shopping there. Amazing jewelry and all kinds of cool things. I always stock up on gifts. Last time I came home with my suitcase lined with mexican vanilla! (It's the best vanilla around and sooo cheap if you buy it in Cozumel) We are planning on doing the dolphin swim at Chankanaab Park. Last time we did this cruise we didn't do a formal excursion in Cozumel. We just took a cab to Cozumel on our own and walked around the park looking at the animals and the recreations of Mexican ruins. It was very beautiful although hotter than heck! Then we spent the afternoon shopping and swilling margaritas at Carlos & Charlie's. :woohoo: Definitely hoping to do that again.

You're going to love it! I've stayed woods view before. If you request MK side you can see the fireworks at night...

Anybody know of a sports bar in Key West? Just found out today football season starts the day we are in Key West.

Bill

I did not know you could request a side. Oh I will have to request the MK side. Thank you so much for the information. We went last June and I was so worried about missing the fireworks that I made sure we saw them and sat thru them 3 times. Ridiculous, I know. But we got to watch them from the California Grill at the top of contemporary, it was so cool, they put us by the window. I was really nice. Then we requested the center window seat at Ciderella's Castle for dinner. Now that was awesome, we got the seat request and the fireworks were litterally over our heads, we just looked out the window while we ate dinner with the lights dimmed and music piped in the room, and watched the show with the carousel in the back. That was really cool also. Then we did a private cruise on bay lake we did the premium cruise to watch the fireworks. Which was my fave. Thanks for the info, sorry about the tangint I sort of went all off subject.
