09/05/09 LABORless MAGICal Meanderers

It sounds like the FE activity is geared more toward the kids in the room. Since our room is just me and the hubby, I was wondering if we are the right participants for this activity. Or am I getting the right idea about how the FE are used?

BTW, after the cruise, we are spending four days at WL - one of the resorts I have always wanted to stay. I have seen a post about some transportation options that are not WDW affiliated. I have been led to a website that is a bunch of independent taxi drivers who will p/u at MCO and d/o at DCL. Has anyone used services of an independent driver?

I am really excited about this trip! I have been planning this trip since last July...I wish I would have found this group a lot earlier!!!!! : )

kasidak-Thanks for the info on the Facebook group! I just went and joined the group. I'm a Facebook junkie, so I was excited to see that on there! Cool deal!

yes, I'm a facebook junkie too but need to remember to join . . :surfweb:

I am trying to log in to disney to finish my sign up but it keeps saying
We're having a problem with our reservation system that will prevent you from booking your vacation package or retrieving your reservation right now. We're sorry for any inconvenience. I am glad we weren't trying to book anything special. i just want to complete everything so I don't forget to later.

I ended up staying up to reserve Palo for my in-laws after all. When I first got on (12:05), 1 brunch slot was available which happened to be ours, I tried to add them to our ressie but got an error message. Turns out that mil had logged in a few days ago and never logged out. She didn't know she had to, and I didn't think to ask her. By the time we figured it out it was 12:40 and brunch was full :headache: so now we/they have to try to get it upon boarding. Dinner was no problem booking and I'm surprised there was so much availability. :confused3

Moral of this long winded story is the system checks your date and time of login so if you didn't log out before, it thinks it's still too early for you so log out and log back in. Or make sure that your payment was received in full and that your birthdays are stored correctly. Those are the usual culprits.

My understanding is that the FE is for everybody. I'm planning on possibly doing something different for adults/children, but everyone will receive a little something.

FE Extenders....Great! How do I sign up as a participant? Our room # is 6082. Its will be me and my hubby. I will ask my SIL and sister if they would like to particpate, too. : )

aussievasion...did you know this was going to be a part time job when you made the first post, lol:goodvibes

I will keep up with the bracelet orders..if you would pleeeeaaase cut and paste this to the first page, it will be easier to find, and we'll make sure we don't forget anyone...although I will order extras for 'just in case'. Here goes the list so far...please yell if I forgot anyone.

queenof2princesses 4 adult 4 child
ibela 4a 2c
kasidak 2a 1c
UGAFan0829 2a
WDW Enabler 2a 1c
beachlover101 3a 1c
smilingmouse 2a
disney minnie 2a 3c
keggy 2a
The Incredibles 2a 1c
prdaniel 1a
DeeRest 6a 2c
idrivealumina 2a 2c

well, that is 51 so far. I hope we get closer to 100 as it is cheaper per bracelet...heck, I may take 10 and use them as 'dis' identifiers on my bags:dance3: I'll be the lady glowing in the dark if anybody has any questions! :lovestruc

FE's...I plan to do some adult stuff too...

hope everyone got their ressies!!

OK, I am going over to facebook to join, then getting back to work after a couple of hours there..:rotfl: I am tellin ya, between the two sites, I don't know how i get anything done. I have a job interview tomorrow (happy with job now, but its more money, which relates to more disney, lol) so I have been on this site 24/7 to keep my mind out of reality....wish me luck..no pixie dust is better:)

p.s. that sounds like I am a slacker...in my profession, it is 'get paid for when you work', I am a contractor...not slackin on somebody else's dime, lol...just to clarify..I am basically self employed...I work all hours of the day..as required)

7 members on our facebook page now..they have been invited here..maybe we will convert some more to the dis;) I'm sure most are here already:goodvibes

Perhaps we should warn them that the DIS can be even more addicting than Facebook!:hippie::cloud9::woohoo:

well we were talking and decided that we would need a few extras of the bracelets, so count us in for a total of 6 adult bracelets and 4 children bracelets. thank you.

How's everyone doing? The weather has really heated up in MN--we have a heat index of 105 today! Our cruise is one day closer!

have you guys ever been to WDW during Thanksgiving? We're thinking of doing a "last-minute trip" for this Nov.

Where is everyone staying before the cruise? We are arriving late Thursday evening and are now considering staying at WDW but not doing the parks.

I really didn't think my DH would go for this! Woo Hoo!

We are going to stay at Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary and are going to do Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween on Friday night. I know that we may be tired but it will be the only time we will be able to celebrate halloween at disney this year. this will be our 4th year for MNSSH.

we're staying at the hyatt at mco. thought about going to wdw but by the time we get there it'll be too late to do anything anyway.

DH and I booked this sailing on Monday. :cool1: We are John Mark (47) and Becky (43) from north Jersey. Just one furry four-legged child that, unfortunately, DCL won't let us bring aboard; he'll be vacationing at the Doggie Hilton while we're gone.

Queenof2Princesses, please order two adult bracelets for us!

We won't be participating in the FEs, though.

I'll be heading over the FB to join the group there as soon as I'm done here. ;)

This will be our first cruise on Disney, but I've got 10 other cruises under my belt since 3/05 (6x Norwegian, 2x Princess, Costa, Carnival). I've been a regular on a couple of different cruise boards since our first cruise, but I'm soooooooo glad I found DIS!!! By far the best community for DCL. :lovestruc

We had originally booked the Eastern itinerary on the Magic for 12/08, but had to cancel when I got a new job. We had that trip planned for two years, and booked for 18 months! :sad1: One morning I cancelled the cruise; that afternoon a pre-cruise packet arrived. :sad2: The Magic was at anchor in St. Thomas when we arrived on the Norwegian Gem in January; that made me get all misty-eyed. I watched as she prepared to depart later that day, and burst into a full-blown crying jag when she blew her horn! I wanted so badly to be aboard her! And now, we get to go!!! :yay: It turns out to be a very good thing we waited -- this vacation will be faaaaaar better than the one we had planned for last December! :thumbsup2

Here are our trip plans:
9/4 - fly down, spend the night at AKL, dine at Jiko
9/5 - breakfast at Boma, DCL bus to the port
Cat. 6 on deck 6, 2nd seating for dinner
9/6 - maybe parasail in Key West? Wander around town a bit
9/7 - massage booked for DH
9/8 - Palo reservations for 9 p.m.
9/12 - DCL bus to WL; stay until 9/17

No excursions planned so far. We may book one for Cozumel; we may not even get off the ship in GC.

I sure hope they don't switch pirate night again that week! That would mess up my plans for Palo.

WDW Enabler, how did you get to be Veteran of the Day at MK? I'd really like for hubby to be able to do that.

Good to "meet" you all, and look forward to meeting you for real on 9/5!!!

The "Veteran of the Day' used to be reserved up to 7 days in advance but as of last Aug/Sept they are "Randomly" selecting the VOD by security personel. The way around this it to go to City Hall, and inquire about it, they will tell you that it is randomly selceted. Usually they will get a person from the security guard group to come talk to you. When you talk to him (usually a man) explain you DH prior service and you would love the honor. if they can fit you in they will try.

Good luck and hope DH loves the experience, I know i did.

I am wearing my Navy Dress blue uniform (I have suits but they are way too irritating to wear).

What is everyone else wearing? Tux or suits?

DH usually wears his Army dress mess blues, but that's been when we've driven to the cruise piers in NY. Since we're flying this time, we'll be renting a tux. He's not happy about that... he'd much prefer his blues.

I'm sure you'll look ~smashing~, Mike! ;)

Great pic, Mike!!! Thanks!

Did you show up at the park in uniform that morning, or did you go change? Do they prefer their VoD be in uniform? Are you on active duty? Were you on AD at the time? (soooooo many questions!)

That day I had scheduled the ceremony prior to my trip. I arrived at the park at approx 1630 (4:30 pm) for the scheduled 4:45 pm scheduled meeting time with the color guard. I was in dress blues there. Uniform is your choice (I did it in uniform once and civilian clothes 2 times). I am still active duty 11.5 years down and 8.5 years to go. I am stationed in Kings Bay Ga.
