The Great DDP Debate

PTR Post # 7

Part Two our decision and plan of consumptionpopcorn::

Well, I figure since September is almost mid-way thru (Can you believe that???:confused3 ) I best get under way on the Big Sept. Post.

For those of you new to my little PTR land, just a little recap:

You have me: Mousescrapper, the official cruise director of this little trip (OK so we're not going on a cruise, but I do often have the picture of "Julie" from the Love Boat in my head when I get down to planning. Now I'm not complaining I happen to love family trips, vacations, weekends away, etc. AND I love to plan and prepare, make lists, and imerse myself in it all.

AND by far the funnest trips to plan are those to Walt Disney World:woohoo: :lovestruc ::MinnieMo pluto: :mickeyjum

Now especially in regards to the upcoming trip in June of 2008 I am having even more fun, because of finally discovering the DISboards:thumbsup2 So you maybe thinking, what have I been living under a rock, in a hole...no sorry. But I'm here now!:yay:

So I started this pre-trippie basically 10 months out--"my pregnancy PTR" as some may like to refer to it as....:rolleyes1 you know who you are.

Like I said I love to plan, and well one must plan when going to the World, so that's what I'm happily doing, ok maybe happily obsessivly doing, but neverless PLAN AWAY!

To help me in my quest to plan the hopeful great WDW trip for our family I was inspired by you guys to create a trip planner/binder:

100_5366.jpg

(sorry it's a little fuzzy, I'll try and scan it in the computer and re-past another day.)

Inside my wonderful binder I break it down into several catergories including the DDP,

100_5367.jpg

where I have pages to jot down the days' Park Tour Plan and our B, L, D, and possible S options for each day and where to write down my ADR #'s as applicable. As well as, I have menus printed out from the unofficial site to help us peruse what we could eat in advance if we so choose. ***This is extremely helpful for DS as he thrives on structure and having some firm ideas of what's ahead...we'll use these more when it get really close.

Back in Post #3 of this PTR I mentioned my (our) debate on whether to add the DDP and do a package on this trip. I hinted in the BIG August Post, that I booked our ressie at the Poly with it. So here is the break down:

So after doing the famous fuzzy Disney math :teacher: several times over, looking thru menus and researching online and having an ongoing list already in my head, asking others in my pary where they'd like to eat, talking over $$ matters with DM (THANKS to her) AND coming up with a park tour plan (but that's for a different post) I think I have a pretty good plan of where we'd like to eat and how to ultilize our 8 days of dinning on the DDP.

Day One: 'Arrival day--We're HERE!'
B: at airport
L: or more like a snack at Captian Cook's at the Poly (pay out of pocket)
D: Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano at MGM (TS #1)

Day Two: 'Bring on the Animals "AHHH...AHHHHH!" (think Tarzan call)'
B: Captain Cook's/Kona Island at Poly (pop) we also plan to keep some, juice, milk etc in the room for bfast options.
L: Flame Tree BBQ (Alternate Pizzafari) CS #1
D: 2 thoughts a) pop at Captain Cook's at Poly for 1/2 our party or b) use package free voucher at Planet Hollywood at DTD The 3 older kids will hopefully be at the Neverland Club for dinner, etc. Do we have enough time to get to DTD and back in our possible 3 hr window?

Day Three: 'Pack it In Day'
B: Crystal Palace at MK TS #2
L: various at MK try and use some snack credits
D: A CS TBD at Epcot, thinking Yorkshire County Fish Shop, Lotus Blossom Cafe, and/or Tangerine Cafe CS # 2

Day Four: "May the Force or lack of Crowds be with You Day'
B: Starring Rolls at MGM using Snack credits
L: Play & Dine at Hollywood & Vine-Character meal at MGM TS# 3
D: Pizza Planet at MGM CS #3 (thinking since there is no kid's menu here, were going to try and share meals 3 or 4 between the 6 of us, one's a toddler. I know it's techinally against Diz law...but you won't tell:rolleyes1 )

Day Five: 'Got Comfy Shoes on? Day'
B: O'Hana Character Brunch at the Poly TS #4
L: more just a snack at Captian Cook's (man I hope this place is good, as we'll be eating there alot) use the leftover CS credits (1-2) from
Pizza Planet
D: Cantiana de san Angel at Epcot CS #4

Day Six: 'Beauty Rest Day'
B: Kona Cafe at Poly (TONGA, TONGA, TOGA...whoops) TS #5
L: hungry? snacks? at Captian Cook's at Poly older DD's having lunch with their Grand Adventure today, rest of us....dare I say play it by ear (Where's the 'big ear smiley' when I need it?) May eat something at DTD too??
D: 1900 Park Fare- Cinderella's Gala Feast TS# 6

Day Seven: "It's a Mickey-World after All Day'
B: Main Street Bakery at MK snack credits
L: Tony's Town Square Restaurant at MK TS #7 (do you the Lady & Tramp love song in your head :music: ?)
D: Columbia Harbour House at MK CS #5

Day Eight: 'Departure Day--No, no I don't want to go....'
B: Captian Cook's/Kona Island at Poly CS #6
L: snacks as needed for some good 'ol Captian Cook's...DS having lunch with his Pirate Cruise today
D: Electric Umbrella Restaurant at Epcot CS #7

So there you have it. What do you think? :confused3 Love some feed back. Still have a little tweaking to do in there possibly, but pretty firm on the TS's and most CS's. If your wondering why so many afternoon lunches/snacks at Captian Cook's...well as you'll see in upcoming posts, we plan to take several mid-day breaks at the Poly, and that's kinda our only choice....

Any now as we're almost hitting the 'midnight hour' here in Chicago land...hope my Cubbies are still in first place, didn't get a chance to watch the game tonight (sorry St. Louis or Brewers fans...NOT:rolleyes1 JK)

and for the final note of the night had to leave you with this:

AT THE BALL!

Thanks for the warm welcome and pixie-dust! :goodvibes
I am getting so excited :dance3: but I'm in between excited :hyper: and full panic mode :worried: ...I just want this trip to be perfect for my girls  Now if only I could stay away from my computer long enough to finish packing :rolleyes1

Your dog has a great name...Maggic, I like it :thumbsup2

If you like to plan, the Dis is definitely the place to do it...we are definitely a bunch of disney crazed, compulsive, over-planning bunch aren't we? ;) :grouphug: But, that is half the fun!

Hey there!

Two thumbs up :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 on the planning binder!

I like how you're planning to do a lot of TS's at lunchtime and some CS's at dinnertime. Last year I made most all of our dinner ADRs at TS locations (in an early time slot) so we could get the most "bang for our buck."

It was sometimes problematic trying to get in an afternoon break at the resort and then trying to rush back out in the early evening to make it to the ADR. Doing some CS dinners gives your more flexibility in the evening.

Happy Planning!

Kathy

First shout outs to Kathy RN and dismom9761 (Amy) for continuing to come by and say :wave2: to my growing PTR and me. THANKS!

(PS thanks Kathy for your encouragement on our TS choices for times, hoping it will work out AND Amy Yes, I'm still here...busy reading your TR...JK I've been reading others....)

Well by my calculations :teacher: I'm almost at the end of my "1st trimester" for those thinking my PTR is like a pregnancy countdown......Think I may have a little bump showing with my trip planner getting a little thicker in the middle. Luckily I haven't had any morning sickness yet...(I may on the ADR calling day  ) Looking forward to the months a head

NOW FOR THE mini post:

I've been dubbed "Scrappie-Doo" by Kathy RN, hope I'm more attractive than that, though I may clean the kids bathroom for a treat....

Besides the daily grind of motherhood, wife and housekeeper extraordinaire, I actually have time for lots of ME things!

My LOVES of course besides the Big Guy upstairs, my DH and my 4wonderful Dizkids I have many other loves.

The CUBS! "Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago what do ya say, the Cubs are gonna Win today!" :yay:

100_0856.jpg

OK well maybe not today, we may need our ralley caps on for the next few....
SortingAlbum916.jpg

On a happier CUB day, here's me, DH, DDad, and DCousinJ- we live for this :cheer2:
100_5291.jpg

Now besides frantically listening and watching the games, not very happily these last 3 days...I also love to scrapbook, hence my name....and my new nickname. Last weekend I had a whole weekend just for scrappin. Here are a few of the finished products:
100_5390.jpg

And since this is a Disney forum and my Disney 08 PTR here are some Disney scrapbook pages from the 05 trip:
The Title page...Ok DH cheated a little on the photo :rolleyes1
100_5391.jpg

A spread from MGM...notice the Disney paint chip and the lovely 3-D glasses :3dglasses
100_5392.jpg

Here are the twins getting their Passports in WS.
100_5393.jpg

Lastly, not that I want to be thinking about "good-bye" yet, but this is such a great shot of my MIL and FIL walking in AK.
100_5394.jpg

Oh sure there are other things, like beading, watching my TV shows, old classic movies, reading, decorating especially seasonally and Disney-ish, and plain spending quality time with all of my family and my great friends. So you may ask why do I love these things: The Cubs? I've grown up a Cub Fan, that and Irish :shamrock: too! Through the thick and thin, the bad and good, it's fun to be a Cub fan, and my brother and I love to tease each other, he's a die-hard White Sox fan. Are we related??? :confused3

For the scrapbooking: It's so great to see my kids faces light up when they look at the albums I've made of them and our family trips. It's a wonderful way to preserve our memories and people always know what to buy me for birthdays and Christmas

Now my most recent new found love the DISboards :chat: :hyper2: :lovestruc :listen: I'm so glad I found you. You're like a long lost friend. I've laughed, cried, been surprised, been tickled pink with joy and green with envy...I've learned new tricks and secrets and have found a great group of people who love Disney just as much as I do :grouphug:

And surprisingly as I've been going through the realization of my DS's diagnosis of ADHD and Aspergers, I have found the most unlikely source of support. So thank you DISers!

Well hope you have enjoyed this little mini post about my loves and me and I'll see you around the boards and be back in a couple weeks with my BIG October post!

me-mousescrapper:mickeyjum

Wow! Beautiful scrapbooks! I'm jealous. I scrap a little, when I have some time, but I usually end up making gifts. I made some great calendars for the two grandmothers last year. I'm jealous of them - I wish I had one for myself!!

I love the DIS too! :goodvibes

Can't wait to read you BIG October post!

HI! Loved your mini post.:thumbsup2 I used to scrap alot but since Rae was born I have let it go.:guilty: Your books are beautiful.:goodvibes I love the pic of your MIL and FIL walking out of AK.
