TXTaylors5: My DGD is 7, but she won't be cruising with us this time. My son (her dad) works for the Sheriff's department as a 911 dispatcher, and he had a few problems scheduling vacation time for December. As a result, we may have to take another cruise in March! And DGD is home-schooled, so there's no problem with her vacation time!

They'll be staying at Fort Wilderness until the Monday after we leave for the cruise, and Shannan (DGD) will go back to them after her quick stay with us at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Next topic: Has the guest reader list for the Candlelight Processional been released yet? That's a must-do for us this year, and we'll make an ADR based on that, as well as making one for Boma and one for Narcoosee's. There are a few other places that we may consider, but we really don't go to WDW to eat, although that certainly is fun. With cruising the next week, we think maybe I shouldn't eat anything at all. DH gained 12 pounds on our first cruise--and it was only four nights:rotfl2:. Once he discovered the ice cream at Scoops, I don't think he was ever without ice cream again for four days!

We are homeschooling DS7 (2nd Grade) and DD4 (Kindergarten) this upcoming school year. Wish us luck! DH (Bill) use to be a School Teacher. So, he is going to help me with teaching. We have chosen a curriculum and just need to order it. It "exceeds" the requirements for Texas. We are excited for the kids.

:sad2: I made no (ZERO!) ADR for our WDW trip last year. I learned from that mistake and wanted to be prepared this year. It was awful wandering around with three whiney hungry kids. This time, I want them to have at least one "healthy" sit down meal a day. It will be nice for Bill and myself too. It will "force" us to sit and relax.

Tea with Wendy is cute! My son got picked to sit up on the stage with Wendy at her table....she picked two boys to be her brothers.....he was so shy,he couldn't believe Wendy was talking to him... he was only 4(it was Dec 2005), he really loved it!!!!
Do you think it will be too "girly" for DS7?

It may be pushing "girly" to a 7 year old boy, I just talked to my 51/2 year old about it...he says he does remember it,he said "it was fun but I'm not doing that again..it's for girls" so .....:confused3

That's what I thought. Thanks for the info!

I am so on the fence about ADRs this year. :confused3 We did the Dining Plan last year with DGS and enjoyed some great meals. I'm not sure we will want to spend the time for a sit down every day this year. There are counter services in all the parks that I really like and the meals are big, so we may just go with that.   The planning is all up to me since several of our group have not been to WDW and after hearing us go on and on about it, ;) they want us to show them the good time we have had. :cool1: :cool1: All are willing to go wherever/whenever I say, but golly that's a lot of responsibility. I may try for 50's Prime Time just because I am very, very sure my sister will get into lots of trouble there! :lmao:

Have you attended :santa: MVMCP before? If so, how was your experience? The kids don't know that we are going. We've seen the WDW Christmas Special on the Travel Channel. So, they know what it is. We may just surprise them.:rolleyes1 I can't wait for the tickets to arrive. How long did it take for you to receive the tickets? The transaction just "cleared" on my bank account. So, I am hoping that means they are on their way.:cool1:

We loved it very much that's why we're going again. :thumbsup2

We got the tickets within days of ordering them.

Just returned from WDW on Tuesday. This is my DW sitting on our balcony at SSR waiting for the bellhop to pick us up.

TXTaylors5: Home schooling is a wonderful experience for everybody. Just remember that not all learning comes from books. Life lessons (including cooking things like Key Lime Pie) can be the best lessons ever! And the results of that lesson were delicious;).

Brack: Your DW doesn't look too happy about leaving! And I don't blame her one bit.

I don't like making ADR's because I'm very spontaneous. I don't like knowing that I have to be in a certain place at a certain time while I'm on vacation, so we only make ADR's for places we really want to eat. Boma is always on that list, and now Narcoosee's is one of our favorites, too. We also try to eat at least one late lunch or early dinner at The Trail's End. Besides those places, we're just as happy with counter service and food courts. On our trip in March, we decided to see exactly how little we could spend for food and still have fun. We didn't go to any parks, it was just five days of relaxation. We had two days when we spent more than $70 for food for the two of us. One of those days we went to Boma and the other we went to Narcoosee's. The rest of the time, we did counter service and food courts, and spent about $25/meal. We don't eat big breakfasts, so a box of donuts lasted four days, and we had tea with those to start the morning.

I'm sure we'll be eating at the campground a lot. My DIL is already searching through our cookbooks for things that are easy to grill!

Last year was the first time that I had made ADRs for every day. We are much more spontaneous people too and it was hard to try to be at the right place at the right time. But, we did want to try out the dining plan and I figured that to get maximum benefit from that we needed the ADRs.

My nephew is an Eagle Scout and is going to some kind of scouting event at Fort Wilderness in July (I think!). He told us he would show us some of his favorite recipes. Of course, a 17 year-old guy's idea of good food may not quite meet our needs:rotfl:!

We tried the food plan last September, and it was good, except for the need for ADR's. We really didn't like having to plan so far ahead, although since the dining plan was free, I really couldn't complain!

DH (Bill) was an Eagle Scout. He is our official fire starter and cast iron cooker when we go camping.

Our lime green shirts arrived yesterday!
Yea! We are still trying to figure out what to put on the back of the t-shirt. We may just put our names. So, we can use them on future cruises and WDW trips. We'll see.

Good evening my fellow pirate:'s
