My wife works as a teacher at Head Start, and we saw a Head Start van on St Thomas. So, she's joking about how she could live down there and just relocate to the local Head Start school. What's funny is that I can do my job remote every day of the week, so it's not unthinkable....... ...

I would love it.

I joked with Bill too on whether he could work from home there? It was so nice and tropical and believe it or not the normal houses (not the huge mansions) were reasonable priced. We saw some new construction homes starting in the 200's. For paradise, that is a steal. Also, they have all the modern conveniences of the mainland including a K-Mart and Burger King. We got a kick out of that. We went on the Coral World and island tour and people kept shouting out things like "There's a KFC here!" and "There's a Payless Shoe Store". You'd thought we had never seen such things before. It was funny.

I take that back, we were NOT at Palo on Pirate Night. But, DH did order a "special" pasta dish. The man behind us (near the windows) at Palo WOULD NOT shut up. Some people just like to hear themselves talk. That was him. The couple on the other side of us DID get a page during dinner. It was funny, the pager went off and everyone checked their pagers. It was like a pager lottery. However, you don't want to win that one. Are you sure you were at Palo on Pirate Night? That could have been you behind us on the other side? If so, you were nice to us in person. We ate at Palo the night of St. Thomas.

We went the night we left St. Maarten. We were right by the windows near the aft and had Noemi as our server. She had also served us for Brunch. We saw the manager bring out a dish and I asked her what it was and she said spaghetti Carbone (or something like that it was hard to understand). We made it to the fireworks because well we were paged.

It was nice visiting with you during Brunch. I'm sorry your family was sick during the cruise. We missed them at Brunch. I don't think we ever saw your wife or kids. I hope everyone is healthy for the holidays and that it was just the rocking of the boat that make them ill. I think everyone was a little green the second night. I brought three packs of Bonine and we went through two and half of them during the cruise. We were taking them every day just "in case". It worked. They even helped DD5 even after she was already seasick when we gave them to her. We highly recommend them!

I ran into Bill on the back of Deck 10 next to the DIS Meet. I had the big 300mm lens on my camera and was shooting the NASA buildings. He met Cindy and Ben who were with me. I didn't see you until the brunch, and I don't think I ran into either of you again on the ship. Crazy how that is, no?

Everyone is feeling fine and doing well thanks.

It was great meeting you all, and everyone else here. I just feel terrible about not getting out to do cards and gifts at the doors. We just never found the time to have Cindy and I go on a delivery run. Cindy absolutely loves her Minnie ears and thanks you for them.

Bill ordered "Spaghetti Capone". It use to be on their menu and when the new Palo chef took over he changed some of the menu items. Also, now that you mention the name, was Noemi from Hungary? If so, that was our server too. However, we weren't at Palo on the St. Maarten night but St. Thomas. That is a weird coincidence someone else would special order that pasta dish (and the manager DID bring Bill's order to make sure it looked right since the chef needed help in making it) and the people behind us were paged too. Too weird.

Please tell her "Your Welcome". We hope she and the boys had great birthdays onboard. How was the Nick Hotel? Did y'all go to "that other park" too? DS7 keeps asking about it because he likes Spongebob, Shrek and Spider-man. But, we just "invested" in APs this past WDW trip.

Regarding St. Thomas, I want to live there! We fell in love with the island and plan to go back again.

The government program that I work with/for has an office in St. Thomas and they are currently looking for someone with my specialty. I'm a long-timer in this field, and there aren't very many people as experienced as I am in certain aspects of the program. If I didn't REALLY want to work for Disney, I would have put in my application the day we were in St. Thomas. I actually had a resume with me, just in case, and had contacted their office before I left home to see if they could talk to me if I stopped in! Jim isn't as thrilled with the idea of living in the islands as I am, so I'm holding off on that idea for right now.

The boys black socks...

So funny. I forgot DH's black socks too. So all he had was the one pair he'd worn on the plane. I ended up buying a pair of Ralph Lauren black socks in Treasure Ketch for $16. He wore those, then I did laundry so he had two clean pair of black socks again. But he sure did give me hell the night he had to wear white athletic socks with his black shoes (I know - the horror, right?)

That was the name if it. Noemi said that it used to be on the menu and many people ordered it because they were repeaters and expected it. We hadn't really studied the PALO menu so we didn't know what was missing if that makes sense. I saw the manager bring out many dishes though so I am wondering if there were other special orders.

I am sure we were there on Pirate night which we chose on purpose as it was the least favorite of the published menus (not expecting to be paged). We totally missed dessert which was ok because we were stuffed. They don't do "small" side dish tastes. LOL

I am LOL because I went back and read of your experience with your server at PALO. It appears we had the same one and we thought she was wonderful. Amazing how two couples can have different perceptions. This is not meant as a slam just an observation. We liked her so much at brunch we requested to be with her on Tuesday night. We actually preferred brunch because you could do small tastes, but the food was wonderful at dinner as well just very very filling.

Sorry Beth that Jim wasn't onboard moving to St. Thomas. Maybe you could persuade him my promising him his very own hammock in the Caribbean? I am sure you went back home to cold weather. My Dad said it snowed in MA.

Okay, so everyone on here is either going to work for Disney or move to St. Thomas. Not too shabby of goals to have.

I wish Robby and Tina all the best in whatever road they decide to travel whether it is in Florida or Arkansas. Maybe Emi could help with this, but is there any way to see online or somewhere else what Cast Member openings there are? That might be a nice start for someone seriously considering a job with Disney. I thought I read somewhere that Disney is going to buy all the Disney Stores back from The Children's Place. If true, working at your local DS might be a nice start too. Good Luck All.

I had looked into working for Disney production offices out here, but most of their positions are located in Burbank. It's technically only about 20 miles from here, but at rush hour, that would be an hour and a half commute each way. And I just couldn't handle that.

My DH and I both fell in love with St. Thomas and we have loved Disney for many many years. I tried to talk him into moving to the world for years now, but we have now agreed to stick to a list of places we have picked out to see so we will be spending most of our free time traveling to far off places. I do hope to run into all our dis family for many years to come.

Emi you were so beautiful in your Wedding Gown. I am so sorry if we interrupted your photo shoot near sessions.

Vodka for a school party? Wow, our school parties were not nearly that much fun way back then!

DS loves to cook.. He is in a Vocational Class with ALL "Older" women.. ok by 6 months - 3 years older, not including his Teacher.. but still.. They have been hounding him to try his Pasta so he made a Big batch last night but didn't want to carry it around or forget it in his locker at school so he asked for me to drop it off at 11 when he gets to Vocational..

He makes the best Japanese style fried rice as well

The girls and the teacher Loved his Pasta.. He was so proud to show me the empty, yet unwashed bowl...

Now if I could only get him to Clean his room and do He would be THE Best Catch for any woman..

It was a great lens. Some of the pictures I uploaded at Saint Martin are with that lens. The kids swimming while I was on a beach chair... I was just starting to get into using that lens for those closer shots when it stopped working. My camera displayed Err 99 constantly. The owner of the lens rental place responded personally to my email when we got back with it's an electrical error indication and 9 times out of 10 it's the contacts on the barrel of the lens getting salt or oil on them. The other time it's the salt air, and either way the insurance I purchased will cover repairs 100% so I don't need to worry. LensRentals.com - I'm very very happy with their service and pricing. I'll definitely use them again if I need to borrow a special lens for a special occasion.
