08 DEC 2007 - 7 Day Eastern Magic Part 3

Brack,

I feel the way to avoid this would be if they switched St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Then they probably could not get back to Castaway Cay by Friday. It would just be so much more convenient. No need to see customs agents if you have not been to a port since FL. We didn't have to see customs in San Juan after leaving Fort Lauderdale in 2006.

Everyone does HAVE to get up and go to the inspection by the US Agents.

While it does seems "anti-cruise" it is not DCL's idea but rather the US government's as a response to the events of the last several years.

Do I like doing it? No but it would be very bad to hold everyone else on their vacation just because I thought it was an inconvenience. Someone always is late and someone has to go to their cabin to get them. :headache:

Oooh. I remember now... the last time we did the Eastern was in 2000... so before more security was put into place. DH still had to go for non-US citizens roll call, but I don't believe I did. I went along anyway for moral support, but I remember being told I didn't have to be there. I'm guessing having US citizens do it too was put into place post-2001.

With our recent freeze, finally the trees decided to release their leaves. More bags to fill tomorrow.

We had a layer of ice on our little pond out front... so I know winter is just around the corner. Our house is only 4 years old, so I don't have many leaves to rake... We planted two Crimson King Maples, and an Apple Tree and a Plum Tree in our yard. While they're all about 12' tall, there's not enough leaves to worry about.

I just remember from my childhood having two Crimson King Maples in the front and a Silver Maple in the back yard. Those trees were bigger than the house, and I loved them. I had to get some for our house.

I've got all my documents filled out. I think it's phfishgirl that is having the problems. I use Firefox for everything except a couple of sites inside my work that don't play nice.

I have to order the USB Bridge, so I can connect my camera directly to my portable USB hard drive. I really don't want to bring my laptop... it would be the first trip I've taken since 2000 without one. I'd like to know what that feels like ;)

You've got your immigration documents, and luggage tags, and cruise boarding passes already?

Who is going on the canal crossing with Disney next year?

We were scheduled to go on the August one but had to back out becaue of our work. :sad2:

I was a part of their thread which has over 79,000 posts so far!

No those come from DCL. My TA said to expect them about two weeks before our cruise date.

Off to pour a glass of wine, slice a little cheese, get some crackers and go soak in a nice hot tub and run the jacuzzi until I am done...or DD comes in going "Mommy Mommy...guess what?"

It's not Customs you see on that morning! You have to meet Immigration/TSA to be checked as being able to enter into the US legally.

I would take a wild guess and say their relational database isn't set up for a multiple home owner :)

You're just too rich for the DCL system! :)

Well techinally 2 of the addresses are the same house.. We're not That rich ;)

We have PO Boxes and no individual mail delivery.. Fed Ex using physical address and NO po boxes.. Cruise docs are delivered to the physical address

However, given the Florida rate.. they want our Proof before we get on the ship.. So it will be manually filling out paperwork for me this time

NO sorry, I don't have that yet. I meant all the "Online" docs. The payment authorization, and stuff.

I've been to China, Korea, Brazil, Germany, Japan, Singapore, and Mexico for work since 2001, so the immigration docs don't scare me ;)

China was simply awesome, I was in Beijing overnight for a layover (30 miles from the Great Wall, and I couldn't go see it :( ), I was in Hangzhou for 5 days (it's a big resort town from what I hear), and I was in Shanghai for a weekend. Shanghai is the most amazing city I have ever seen in my life. And we had a local citizen take us out and show us the town so I saw more than most tourists.

If I ever have to choose a different country to retire to, it will be Brazil. The culture and environment are so nice.

I'm sure the hot-tubbing on the ship is a little different than the hot-tubbing in the back yard.... banana and girls jokes aside...

I wasn't going to chance it to find out.. Fellow Dis'ers maybe ;) Complete strangers.. never.. :scared:

Just record Cold Case which follows it...that's what I plan ondoing.

I tell my TiVo to extend the recording time on TAR by an hour so that the football dalays doen't interfere. :happytv:

I'm really hoping the rumors about DCL sailing out of Hong Kong in 2010 are true. If they are we will definitely be there.:thumbsup2

I often go to bed the same time as the kids, especially on vacation, so I'll be wandering around early, looking for other early risers. You too or is this a fluke?

I love the morning "calm before the storm".

I'm usually up and back near the coffee station :coffee:

We have fios boxes, not regular tivo, so they don't do that.

I believe he was talking about the forms on line on DCL site..

I can't do ours because of the Florida Resident Rate and our NJ address on their files from previous cruises.. We've only had a Florida home since June..

I'm so bummed. I just read that we won't be getting our castaway cay lanyards and pins. They stopped that this month. This SUCKS!! :sad1:
