08 DEC 2007 - 7 Day Eastern Magic Part 3

Our first trip to Disneyland was in 1966 and we have been hooked ever since. I cried the first time I saw DL. We drove for four days all the way from Chicago.
I saw DL in 1996. I was in California for a political event with a group of friends. We rented a car and drove from San Diego to Los Angeles, got all the way to the entrance to DL, and the rest of those party-poopers decided they really would rather spend the day at the beach! We ALL lived at the Jersey Shore at that time. It was just so weird! My son and I had gotten to California the really long way. We took from New York to Chicago and then a train from Chicago to San Diego. It was an awesome trip across the country, and we took a bus back from San Diego to New York. I would never do it again, but I'm glad I did it once!

So if I can convince Jim to fly that far, we'll visit DL someday. He did fly all the way to Las Vegas, and now he likes flying, but he gets really restless and is ready to get out after about two hours. The last half-hour of a flight to or from FL makes him crazy. He's OK for 21 hours on the train, though, because there's a lot more places to get up and walk around!

Oooo, I just had a horrible thought!

Maybe I need to leave my ressie ALONE so they can assign my room?? I was refreshing (anxious? noooo.... :hyper:) but I just logged out for a while.

When we were booking, my agent gave me my ressie # and I went right in (trying to book Palo--it was inside the 90 day mark). When my agent got the fax, she had to call Disney back to make a change, and the Disney person couldn't access my ressie cause I was in it. My TA had to CALL ME and tell me to get out!!:rolleyes1 Busted...

So, um, maybe we just need to back away from the computer for a bit...

:lmao:

.... Happy birthday a day late to Robbie and Jason! .......

I guess I should say, when I made that comment earlier, it wasn't really my birthday. I was just excited that I finally got a pirate and that was my happy dance! :lmao: You know, kind of like, "Go Robby! It's your birthday! Go Robby!" Sorry for the confusion!! :rotfl2:

WooHOO!! :woohoo:

I'm also thinking, 4 WEEKS from today we should've touched down in Orlando, picked up the rental car and be headed to Canaveral to see the shuttle!! :hyper: The folks who know about our trip, the cruise sounds nice, but everyone's like, whoa, the shuttle, cool. :cool2: If I do get to see it, barring unforseen circumstances, between that and getting on the ship, I am going to be incoherent with excitement by the first Dis meet. :bitelip: :faint:

We were disappointed that we missed the launch in October. Luckily, we never mentioned anything to the kids.

In case anyone else on here is interested in the launch, I looked at the NASA website and found this information and have attached a link . . .

Bill was excited for your pirate: pirate. Congrats! I think he was online at the time.

I read that post regarding the "It's My Birthday" song and pictured you dancing around your chair singing that . . . It was a very funny visual. :rotfl2:

Where should we go to view the launch?

OK, well congrats on your pirate!

We have never been to a launch at Port Canaveral. I know y'all gave us some recommendations for the best locations to view the launch in October, but I can't find them. :sad2: We may actually make this one. :cool1: I am working with our itinerary to shuffle some things around. Please repost. Thanks! :goodvibes

WOW! Another DISer! Two in one day!

What category cabin? Another 12GTY? :)

Don't they only offer a certain number of Cat. 12 GTY? How are these new people getting them too? Is our cruise that empty? I thought it was quickly filling up with the new discounted rates. I think we will be surprised to see how full the ship is actually going to be. :crowded: As long as I can find a comfy deck chair and a fruity drink, I'm fine. :drinking1 Then again, if I can't find the deck chair, I can go and relax on our verandah. This is such a great deal that people will be taking their kids out of school for it. We thought we were being smart by cruising on an "off week", no school vacations or holidays. I hope we don't regret it. :sad2:

Soon, we will all be here. . . :beach:

Yes, we are 12 gty. Just more magic to share with all our new friends. :grouphug: :flower3: That rate came up and we just could not turn it down.

This is all a complete guess on my part, but I'm thinking they might offer the Cat 12 gty until the ship is a certain percentage full. They know not everyone who books it is gonna end up in one since they only have thirteen of them. But getting someone in and bumping them up, even at a Cat 12 gty rate, is still better than the cabin sitting empty and them not getting any money at all.

I think once they get to that percentage full, they probably "cut their losses" and go back to only taking reservations on higher categories hoping someone will actually book at a higher rate. I'm sure the bean counters have it all worked out as to when the ship is making money versus losing money considering fuel, food, salaries, etc.

Just my guess!

On a completely unrelated note, I cannot explain my reaction to Keith Urban. Ok, so he's Aussie. Ok, so he can sing really well. Ok, so he's kinda hot. These things are not usually things that affect me a great deal. Well, maybe the Aussie part.

But there is something about that man that makes me think I could just eat him up with a spoon.

ETA: I'm watching CMT if that wasn't apparent.... :o

OK, I just tried to access my reservation and got the message that I couldn't because it's currently being serviced. Could it be---maybe---I'll have a room number?

After spending the last 2 hours catching up on posts, all I can say to all of you is....PUT THE MOUSE DOWN!! STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am still alive, but just very busy at work. Twice a year the principal C3 representatives from all the NATO and partner nations come to the HQ for a 2 day meeting. We just finished the November meeting this evening.

Now we're back to just coordinating a 1-day meeting every 3 weeks for the national C3 reps who are located in the delegations in the HQ.

I must say though it was pretty cool hearing an Assistant Secretary General read the script I'd written for him. And the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Info and Technology came up and introduced himself to me. Then he took me over to meet an AF General who was attending with him.

Jas has a 5-day weekend from school. They have parent/teacher conferences today and tomorrow, and then Veterans Day on Monday. She's at a sleepover tonight, as I wasn't sure how long the meeting would go today. She goes to the childcare center at the Army garrison on the school out days. She did ask me if you guys had gotten to 10,000 and I told her I'd checked in just to see, and that you were WAY past it!

Speaking of which...

congratulations to Brack, Jennifer, Bill, Rob, and Brack again for your pirates, and of course a big congratulations to Dr. Hug for getting the Big 10K!!

I better update the blog now.

Does that mean there will be a launch while we are at DW? How cool is that?

It should be at the end of the evening so we should see it.

Welcome to all the newcomers!!

If you want to participate in the Secret Mickey Exchange, please post or PM me the number of adults and children in your cabin and the gender and age of the kids. I'll post the info on the blog (link is in my signature block) so folks can add you to their shopping lists. Feel free to add the first names of the adults, otherwise I'll just list you under your DisName.
