Hubby gets in on December 3rd at night from Iraq (and thank you for everyone's kind words - but just a side note - he is in Iraq, on base, he does computer work, but he is not military - he is with a contractor (eats with and flies with and conducts life with the military but not in as much danger, if there is such a thing over there)

Krisann,
The Military could not do the job without the brave souls, such as your husband, who voluntarily deploy overseas. (Especially in the IT field). The contractors provide the continuity which allows us military folks to rotate in and out of the theatre. And they are usually some of the hardest working people there.

I can understand why your DH would not want anyone to think that he is one of the ground troops who are outside the wire on a daily basis - those folks are my heroes too. But he is still a crucial part of the fight against terrorism and yes, you SHOULD be proud of him

Wendy

Ok need some input from those who have gone before and spent time at Disney before hand (first cruise we did not time at Disney)

Thanks for any input.

The last 2 times we sailed out of Port Canaveral we did WDW for 6 nts prior, and did all the parks.

This time since we're arriving 2 nights prior, and will be coming from overseas, I didn't want to plan anything ambitious. We're coming in the night of the 6th and then will spend the 7th enjoying the holiday decorations and shopping at DTD. We may go over to the Boardwalk too, as we haven't had a chance to check that out before. And even though it'll probably be cold, I'm sure DD will also want some pool time.

With your DH just getting back from overseas, you might enjoy a more laid back schedule. But of course you know your family best. If you do a park, my personal preference would be to just do Animal Kingdom or MGM, as they are smaller and you can easily do the whole park in one day. Then in May you can spend a couple days at Epcot. I think I'd get stressed out trying to do Epcot in one day.

But that's just me, what do your kids think?

Quoting myself....

As far as transfers, with the 4 of you, you could have a Town Car pick you up and take you directly to the ship for the same price as the DCL transfer. That way you can leave when you want.

Thank you for being concerned but I have been reading older posts and contacting individuals with any questions I had. I haven't posted any lately for the fear of being ridiculed for not having tickets yet. I did find some interesting posts while reading the history and was wondering how many times you have quit this discusion so far? I don't think I will be able to get the time off for this cruise but I do appreciate everyone's willingness to answer my sometimes dumb questions.

Hello Bagger,
There are no dumb questions!!!

Ask away!

Has anyone ever used Shirley for holiday gifts on the cruise? I was thinking of having her deliver the kids their items in a stocking - anyone used her at Christmas time before?

I'm planning on using her for this cruise. I'd looked at other options, until I saw how much time she spends helping out people on this board. So I wanted to give her the business.

I know many people do it each cruise, each week :scared: but I could not wait until the day of the cruise to fly in. We're going two days ahead only because I can not go any sooner at all. :confused3

Me either, especially since the first 2 days of the cruise are at sea. You'd have to wait until Tuesday to get the ship, if you miss it in Pt Canaveral. :scared1:

I think Wendy for her Blog, but when she first mentioned it, many months back, I couldn't think of a reason to make the blog in the first place. Now I know :)

Yep, I learned the hard way when I joined the thread for our Med cruise a few weeks before sailing, and it took me forever to catch up. :surfweb:

I'd been booked on the cruise for over a year, but hadn't heard of this board.:confused3

We are flying out on Friday for this cruise... Spending the night at our house.. then cruising.. Then spending the night at our house.. and flying home Sunday..

We have a Pre Cruise and a Post cruise day set up.. Maybe even MK on Post cruise day :thumbsup2

We leave Wednesday for WDW and I am soooooo excited.. DS is coming with us so he will finally get to sleep in the new house on his new Mattress & Boxspring.. Direct Buy called and said some of our Ashley Furniture is in.. Only problem is.. We don't know what or how much of it cause ALL 4 bedrooms, Kitchen & Dining room are Ashley :confused3

I need to call tomorrow cause they were closed today so I didn't get past a recording.. :headache:

What will you do without me??? :confused3

Jasmine better have her pirate: postings ready  I expect her to get 1 or 2 or 10 while I'm gone.. She'll have 4 whole days..

Our flight leaves MCO around 930 am to come home Sunday so I will be on Sunday night :thumbsup2

But I will be checking in tomorrow, on and off, all day.. :surfweb: I need my Dis fix since I'm going cold Turkey for 4 days :hyper:

Oh and thanks for everyone's input and info about what to do coming down - hubby really wants to see the shuttle go up so we are planning hoping to see it but if not we will still go down there as I assume there is something to visit ??? will check on that later - he is really wanting to do that.

So here is what we ended up doing:

we fly in from Memphis at MCO on December 5. (still have to get hotel). Will do dinner and something disney that night. On the 6th rent a car and go to where the shuttle is ( it is late and I cannot think :) ) and then on the 7th do Epcot and CP - the 8th go to the cruise - on the 15th go back to disney and on the 16th fly back to Memphis on the late flight.

Wow, that IS ambitious! Yes, the Space Center is awesome, even without the shuttle launch - although I'd much rather see the shuttle. I don't know how easy/hard it'll be to drive down there on the 6th though, you might check under Shirley's thread about "everything you wanted to know" becuz she has some of that info. I'm sure the traffic will be horrible!

Also, did you know you can pickup a car from the DTD hotels, if you want?

Does anyone have any Special requests from WDW ? I can mail it to you, if you feel safe to PM me an address... Or I can hold it til Dec and hand it to you in person..

We will be in MK on Friday for MNSSHP :goodvibes

I really wanted to do it this weekend, but with all the upset about the cat,
Beth

Beth,
I've been so busy lately, I'm not sure if I ever told you how sorry I was to hear about your cat. It's so hard to lose a furry family member.

Hi Wendy

I can't stay awake any longer.. 2:30 is past my bedtime...

Catch a pirate: for Jasmine today.. :wizard:

Has anyone here thrown a High School Graduation Party for a Boy?

My son will be graduating in June and I would really like to throw him a party.. Now he is very laid back and will just go with the flow so whatever I decide he will just Go With.. :sad2: When I ask him I get the typical " I don't know" :confused3

He isn't sure what kind of party he wants or where so I am left with planning it ALL out.. Hall, Food, DJ, Rentals.. etc etc..

Now, my son is NOT a dancer.. so I was trying to do something different then the typical "Reception" type party.. but still fun for ALL the guests..

Any ideas?

If you want something casual how aobut a luau party/barbecue?? All the girls would probably wear bikini tops and grass skirts, so I'm sure DS would LOVE that. :rotfl: :rotfl:

If you go the more formal route....hmmm I'll have to think about that one.

Funny.. Reading this while I shove Chips Ahoy Chunky Chocolate Chip Cookies in my mouth.. popcorn::

Ah, just what you wanted posted as the 6900th post. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Still trying to catch up on the thread, but I'll update the blog now.

I know people have said they've done BBB the morning before the cruise, so I think you'll be fine. If you do decide to do it that way, above all, just roll with it. If they take a little longer and you don't get to the port until 12pm, be prepared not to fret. Don't let your vacation start on a stressful note!

PERFECT Advice! :thumbsup2

Uh oh, work is interfering with my DISing. Will have to finish catching up later....

It was freezing cold her this am - 0 degrees celsius to be exact! I was running late and didnt' have time to scrape the windows, so I had to drive with them open until the car warmed up! Luckily I'd used my autostart before I went outside, so it was warm and cozy for me. Gotta love the autostart!
