08 DEC 2007 - 7 Day Eastern Magic Part 2

We were going to go on a Volksmarch this morning, but the girls and I were too tired to get up. I figured we all needed the sleep instead.

I got my 3rd little girl today, and we all went to the Netherlands to hit the commissary and PX. It's an hour drive each way, and then it took me another hour to put away all the stuff I bought - I only go every 3 weeks, so its hard to find a place for everything we buy.

I did get a chance to pickup a few more things for the kids for the Secret Mickey exchange.

Danielle (the 11year old I'm watching ) went to a sleepover tonight. So I'm relaxing for a bit while the other 2 are upstairs. DD bought "Surfs Up" today, and apparently it was pretty funny because the girls watched it on the way home and were cracking up the whole time. Now I want to see it. But first I need to watch the Boston Legal I Tivo'ed earlier.

Congrats Stacy!! I'll update the list....

I am soooooooooo gonna' need to Spoil her on this cruise :rolleyes1

That's okay, I told her earlier that you were worried that she'd be mad when you were only 2 behind "us" and she said, "thats okay, I'm not mad."

Besides, if she has a problem she can help with more posts. :surfweb: :surfweb: (Okay well maybe not with her homework load):teacher:

It looks like everyone has had a busy day ....... somewhere else other than here on the DISBoard. :confused3

I'm in the basement on the computer in my Disney Room still doing :laundy:

Has anyone here done the Eastern before and been to any of these ports??

The last time we did the Eastern was 7 years ago. We've done the Western and a West Coast since then and, of the three, really enjoyed the Eastern the most.

We didn't do much in St Maarten other than walk around town a little, do a little shopping, found an internet cafe to send an email home. This was before they had the internet connection on the ships. If we had decided to go to the beach, we would have taken a cab to one of the ones farther from the port. I didn't really like the look of the beach closest to the port. Not to mention, with all the ships docking there, I'm not sure there wouldn't be some uck in the water. We knew we'd be doing the beach in St Thomas and at Castaway Cay though, so St Maarten was more for shopping for us. :)

In St Thomas, we got a taxi over to Magen's Bay and hung out there for the day. The cab drivers will arrange to come back at a specific time for you if you like. We did this and she was right there, right when she said she'd be. Very nice beach - clear, beautiful water and very calm since it's naturally surrounded. Not much in the way of snorkeling, though we did see a few things here and there. There's also a little shopping center right at the dock that we looked through a bit. It's obviously set up for the cruise ships, so it's "touristy" but people say there are deals to be found. We weren't looking for anything in particular, but it was a good place to get postcards, magnets, etc. There are jewelry and electronics stores though. At least there were 7 years ago. :)

Just a couple of weeks ago we did the Eastern. We went to Orient Beach on St. Maarten. In St. Thomas we went to Corl World and the connecting beach, Coki beach. I loved Coki beach. So many fish swimming with us. This time we may go to Saphire beach. Our taxi driver let us stop to take pictures from a hilltop and it looked beautiful.

Is it just me or do ALL of us wil Dis' Addiction :surfweb: have sleeping problems?

Not me! I'm definitely addicted, but I can fall asleep anywhere, anytime, and I fall asleep almost immediately. Jim, on the other hand, is a night owl who only sleeps two or three hours a night.

We had a busy day, too. We're another family redoing a house. Today was yard work, and now DS and his gang are finishing the last wall in Shannan's room. By the end of the evening, her entirely purple bedroom will be finished!

Gotta go now, I'm cooking dinner tonight, so I have to head back to the kitchen. I'll catch up again later!

We went to the Surprise party and the Birthday girl was SOOOO Surprised..
It was at her own house.. Her daughter opened the door for her and She never even looked up, she went right towards the living room to pick up the toys :confused3 Came around the corner into the Kitchen and SURPRISE!!!!! :cheer2: She was so clueless :sad2:

We've done the eastern 5 times and the western just once. We are sort of tame and have just done the island bus tours. We did walk through the town in St Maarten that the ship docks at. I even bought a lens for my camera there.

One cruise we didn't even leave the ship except for Castaway Cay. That was a laid back cruise. :cloud9:

I'm very excited--we finally decided what to do post-cruise. We aren't flying home until Dec. 20 so we just booked 4 nights on Sanibel, http://sanibelcollection.com/seaside_inn/ Now I can totally skip worrying about finding a beach during our port stops, knowing that we'll only have to walk out the door once we're back on land. Won't be as warm, but hopefully we'll get lots of walking, wading and shelling. (I hate swimming in the ocean anyway!) :cool1:

I know you posted this earlier today, but I've been out. We live in Fort Myers, not too far from Sanibel - it is beautiful, you'll love it!

I was out all afternoon driving a bunch of teenagers around for a scavenger hunt - that was an experience! Our homeschool group has about 40 middle/high school kids and half of them joined in on the scavenger hunt. The hardest thing was getting someone with a Hummer to let you take a picture of one of your team members IN it. :confused3

This was our first scavenger hunt, but based on the kids' response, it won't be our last!

Thanks! We've been dithering, and maybe it's not the best time...so would you be getting wet in the ocean in December?? I figure, hey, we're Canadian, we'll survive! ;)

:lmao: :lmao: Everyone remember... don't offer JoAnne any fruit punch from the drink station. :rolleyes1

How odd... my mother doesn't think it's funny at all. :confused3 :lmao:

Oh, :lmao: took me a minute--I'm slow today. :lmao: :rotfl2:

I too have been enjoying your list...does your mom have any grandkids? It gets easier if you have a sibling to take the pressure off!

DH & I were watching a News channel and they are saying it is likely that the Shuttle won't take off on schedule due to weather..

If they delay it long enough my DH & DS & I can watch it :thumbsup2

Or maybe the TxTaylors will get to see it after all :confused3

Pout. If this one gets pushed back any more (it's already been moved by 3 days if I remember correctly), the one in Dec. will probably domino...though they do have a bunch of other things between now and then, so maybe they'd just try to stick with the plan... :confused3

Oh yeah, my older sister was nice enough to grace her with two grandsons. Which worked out well, cause I'm one of three girls. So Mom and Dad are enjoying boys now. My sister on the other hand.... ;) Growing up with two sisters, I always thought I'd want a boy... but now I want a girl.

DH's parents, on the other hand, don't have any grandkids from anywhere yet. And his sister says she's never having any. :headache: Luckily, they live in London, so I only catch grief once every year or two on the visits. :thumbsup2
