Thanks! We've been dithering, and maybe it's not the best time...so would you be getting wet in the ocean in December?? I figure, hey, we're Canadian, we'll survive! ;)

I'm from WI, and I'm sure I'd have no problem swimming in the Gulf or the Atlantic in December. I don't know if I'd be out there for hours, but unless it's below 40, I'll be in the water.

I was swimming in the Atlantic in February once... but it was in Rio De Janeiro. That's like August there. We were swimming on Copacabana beach.

The gulf is warmer than the atlanic in December, or atleast feels like it. The beaches are dead around Tampa now, to us Floridians 85 degrees outside is COOooold! people are actually wearing sweaters! I have only been here a year so i find this very funny:rotfl2:
But the water wont be that bad, probably in the low 70's.

We have 3 times. :cool1:

May I ask some questions??

How is the weather that time of year, day/nite? Is the water at Castaway Cay warm? How are the ports? Anything special to see, shop? We were thinking of renting a car at St. Maarten. Is there anything great to see at the French side? See...lots of questions :)

Tx

The weather is 80 degress and sunshine! Once we leave Port Canaveral you will only need a sweater or light jacket MAYBE on deck at night. Most nights it is plenty warm without a jacket. The water is usually warm at CC, omly twice out of our 9 cruises this time of year it was just a little on the cool side. Dec 2004 there was a storm that had come thru the day before and it was still a bit windy.

We did the Under Two Flags Island Tour and the St Thomas Island tour the first time we went. They are fairly inexpensive, short so you have time to shop or go to a beach after, and they give you a great overall view of the islands along with bits of history, economics of the area, etc. We have done a similiar tour on each of the islands we have visited. (We did the first 10 days cruise in 2004 so we got to go to St Lucia and Antigua and did the same there).

Folks say the shopping is great, but we are not into buying jewelery, electronics and such. We did get a camera for our DD at St Thomas once and saved a few dollars. I think St Thomas is known for good deals on linens also. I picked up some nice linen placemats for a friend for $4 each. There is lots of junk to buy all over the Caribbean! We came home with suitcases full the first time we went! :sad2:

We have done the Golden Eagle Catamaran in St Marteen and that is alot of fun. Great crew! We did the St John Island Tour last year and enjoyed that also. St John is beautiful, most of it is perserved as a National Park, so there is more natural enviornment and less villages and commercial stuff.

Gosh it has been three days, I guess bagger is not interested in this cruise at all. Certainly one would think if they were truly interested, they would have more questions.

I keep checking every morning. Still no sign of a Brunch reservation at all. Maybe at 30 days.

Yesterday was a visit to the pumpkin farm and a hike in a state park to the base and top of a waterfall and back down again. After seeing Niagara, my daughter was so "Eh, this is pathetic."

Not a cloud in the sky at all again today. A bit warmer though. We got up around 5 this morning and watched the Orionid meteor shower right over head. Not very impressive this year.

The water will be just fine where the ship is going.

One of the things you have to be careful about is thinking that it is winter and sunburn doesn't happen ...... NOT! Take sunscreen! I take SPF50 only because they don't make it any higher. :confused3

Curious is this group brunch or individual? Since I just booked the other day, everything online was gone, so I am going to have to go to Rockn D and hope I can get something. Does anyone know what time they open to take dining changes and ressies?? TX

I think it's usually listed in the navigator as 12pm, but most people report they go right as they board since they'll usually start making changes before the posted time.

Individual for hubby and me. This thread has two groups with requests in for group bookings in the private room. I am hoping that something will open on Sun or Mon at 30 or so days when they are supposed to assign the private room to the requests.

We're in the same boat (:lmao: ) re Palo, also hoping for 30 days out but failing that, Rockin Bar D or whatever it is as soon as we board. We have nothing, and are hoping to get the full range of Palo options! (Dinner brunch and tea, though tea doesn't get the raves of other meals--opinions?)

Good info to know not to wait til noon, if we get on sooner, thanks Julie.

:sad1: DW is on another road trip for work until Wednesday. :upsidedow So it's just JoJo and me. He's sleeping and I'm DISing. :surfweb:

Question for all of you Jersey people..... My uncle is taking his wife to a bon jovi concert at the prudential center and I was wondering if anyone can recommend where to stay. They will be driving in from I 95.
Thanks

Thank you for getting me caught up on everything! I found the Santa list! Now the next question is (I am sorry I am being blonde :) ) Exactly how is this working? I am still excited about it but want to make sure I undersand the "rules" for the exchange. I know we are hanging Stockings on the doors.

Thanks in advance

Ok need some input from those who have gone before and spent time at Disney before hand (first cruise we did not time at Disney)

Hubby gets in on December 3rd at night from Iraq (and thank you for everyone's kind words - but just a side note - he is in Iraq, on base, he does computer work, but he is not military - he is with a contractor (eats with and flies with and conducts life with the military but not in as much danger, if there is such a thing over there) - still in my opinion a wonderful man for going and doing what he is doing - but did not want anyone thinking he was in the military - he is still scraficing things and we are without him for months at a time so this cruise is very important to us as a family.

- we have reservations for CP at Epcot on the 7th - the cruise is on the 8th :) as we all know.

We have to fly to Orlando - here are our options:

Fly out the morning of the 6th - Stay at one of the ecomomy disney hotels and then spend the evening resort hopping looking at the decorations or enjoying the hotel, spend the 7th at Epcot and enjoy the CP that night, and then either

1. have checked out of the hotel and have disney transportation take us back to the airport and check into the Hyatt so we can be on the first bus out of the airport to the terminal in morning OR

2. Stay 2 nights at the disney hotel and just get on the bus to the cruise from the hotel.

Our other option is to skip epcot and CP and just fly into MCO on the 7th, spend the night and just enjoy the cruise and not worry about going to the world - and do DW in May when we go for the Repo cruise?

Thanks for any input.

Has anyone ever used Shirley for holiday gifts on the cruise? I was thinking of having her deliver the kids their items in a stocking - anyone used her at Christmas time before?

Thank you for being concerned but I have been reading older posts and contacting individuals with any questions I had. I haven't posted any lately for the fear of being ridiculed for not having tickets yet. I did find some interesting posts while reading the history and was wondering how many times you have quit this discusion so far? I don't think I will be able to get the time off for this cruise but I do appreciate everyone's willingness to answer my sometimes dumb questions.
