Santa's helper says that Room No.'s will be assigned after they finish selling the rooms. You could find out as late as boarding what your room will be. I've read about people finding out between 30 and 45 days, though, so it could be soon!

My TA thinks it's funny--the worst that can happen to me (except for that whole split bath thing) is to move to the other end of Deck 2.

Jim did some quick estimations and figured that our bathroom at home actually has less square footage than the Cat. 12, so he's much happier now. I've promised him that I will let him use the bathroom for 10 minutes in the AM and 10 in the PM (except on formal night--he gets 15 in the PM):rotfl:. He's perfectly happy with that.

Judy: I've used the magnet-paper kits several times, and they work really well. I make a lot of business card magnets for people.

I'm a bit disappointed--I did change my reservation to the Cat. 12 gty and saved a lot of money , but, as a result, I lost all of my reservations:guilty:. I was able to rebook my excursions (and because we saved so much money, I'm going to change my St. Thomas excursion, but Palo is a different story. I was able to get the only dinner slot available, on St. Maarten day at 8:30 PM. That time is fine with me, since our excursion is early and even if we get off the ship again after lunch I'll have plenty of time to get ready. However, there were no brunch times available at all. If we don't get a private room, I'll have to put my name on the waiting list, because by the time we get to the ship I suspect it will be too late. That's unfortunate, because I really enjoyed the brunch more than the dinner!

Oh well, I guess that means that I'll have to use some of that money I saved to book another cruise just so I can have brunch at Palo!

Beth

Beth,

I'm glad that you were able to save so much money by switching, :woohoo: but I hate that you lost your ressies. Hopefully they will be able to straighten everything out for you!! The only other thing and I don't know how much you enjoy it, is Pirate Night is the same night as St. Maarten. pirate: I don't know if you enjoy going to that! Let us know!!!

If rooms are changed or assigned at the port, how will we get the word around?

I guess we'll have to attend the meet at 3 PM--I think it was Deck 10 starboard? Also, not everyone is changing their rooms, so perhaps someone who isn't moving around will volunteer to be a contact person for those of us who are "temporarily homeless".

Wendy:

Pirate Night isn't a big deal for us--been there, done that. Our next cruise will probably have Shannan with us, and she hasn't seen Pirate Night yet, so we'll do it then (hopefully this Spring with the money we just saved). we'll be happier having a nice quiet dinner for two that night!

Good point. Unless there's a problem with our suite, I'll be in 8582. How about I post a sign on my door where folks can leave new room numbers. On the first day, just drop by my place and update the list if needed. Then on the 1st sea day, everyone can check my door and update their phone tree and Secret Mickey list as needed.

Ok, trying to share some photos here. When I click on the "insert an image", it wants an url, doesn't let me browse my own hard drive. Do I have to upload to somewhere? I couldn't find an answer in the FAQ, maybe I'm not looking hard enough...:confused3 I have posted to other boards via an upload and link, but the process was sort of...signposted all along the way.

JoAnne: You need to have them uploaded to a website--Photbucket is one that a lot of people use, and it's free. Then you can insert the url and the picture will show.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

It was frustrating to me at first too, but now that I've gotten used to it...no sweat! I've learned all kinds of neat computer stuff since becoming addicted to this board!

Hmm, I wonder if I can get to 5700 before Robby and Stacy show up? Brack if off enjoying nature right now...

I'm almost up to 1,000 posts too!:surfweb: Pretty good, since I'd never even heard of the DIS before last May timeframe.

This board is most certainly addicting!

Can you tell that I'm bored to death in the office today? I'm doing the worst part of my job--entering endless lists of numbers into endless tiny spaces on a tiny little screen in a software application that's just too hard for these old eyes to read. Can't see it with the glasses on, can't see it with the glasses off...so I DIS to rest my eyes. At least that's what I told my boss!

I suffer from EXTREME motion sickness. However, my life changed when I discovered bonine on my second cruise. The first trick is to make sure you have it in your system prior to travel.

For air travel, I'll take one bonine the day before, 1 the night before, and 1 right before I board. If the flight is longer than 8 hrs, I'll pop another bonine onboard.

For cruises, start taking 24 hrs before sailing, and keep it in your system at all times. On a sea day, I'll take 2 in the morning, then one around dinner time and 1 before bed. When we're ashore, I'll take 1 in the morning and then 1 in the afternoon before we depart.

You can get it free onboard most cruise lines. The reason they prefer to give out bonine rather than dramameine is that you can drink with bonine, and it doesn't make you drowsy. However, for folks like you and I who REALLY need the stuff, I recommend taking what we'll need with us. Just in case!

Also, for some reason the pink chewable tablets work better for me than the generic meclizine that is white and yellow. The white and yellow pills will work, but make me a bit drowsy. (They give out the white and yellow pills onboard). There's no scientific reason that the pink pills work better, and a long time ago I found a bottle of generic pink meclizine that worked fine.

I'd recommend trying out the different suggestions prior to the cruise. Just reading a book in a car will make me sick to my stomache. Or you can twirl around in a chair, or something else equally silly. :joker:

You're back in your groove...congratulations! I'll update the blog.

Oh that reminds me, I was going to bring some gingerale onboard next time. I wish they had it at the soda station!

They now make Bonine for kid and I picked some up. I don't think DD has needed it yet though, so I don't have any feedback on it. You could also bring childrens dramameine to use in the evenings.

I have the pink Bonine
I always order Ginger Ale in the dining rooms and on planes. Good idea to bring some with.

I love the pink one, because it's chewable. And I swear the other one makes me drowsy. Sometimes I pick up some of the free stuff on the ship, and just use it at nighttime.
