Strawberry ruhbarb pie is the one thing DrHug and I disagree on. He loves it, I cannot understand why you would ruin a strawberry pie by putting ruhbarb in it! :confused3

Strawberry takes the tartness out of the ruhbarb popcorn::

We are slowly but surely trying to get the house in shape to put it on the market. 20 years of living with kids and grandkids has taken it toll! We started on the downstairs, which I have not even ventured into for months! I patched a couple of good size holes in the bedroom (from DS years ago trying to run the wiring from the satellite down there! :sad2: ) and got it painted. Dennis is finishing up the trim on the new slider door. We spent the afternoon at the Mother Ship (Home Depot) buying flooring for the downstairs, new lighting for the guest bath and new electrical outlets. We got vinyl tiles for the family room and hall. About 700 sq feet, I think. We got a deal on that....$4 for 45 square feet!! Whoa! Grabbed that! We also got vinyl strips for the bedroom that look like wood. I saw them put that in a family room on Sell this House or one of those and it looked pretty good. That room is about 150 sq feet, so we have our work cut out for us now! Oh, and we got a nail gun and brad gun for Dennis. Should make finishing up the doors and molding so much easier! Too much work. We hoped to have alot done this week since we both are off work, but we have to spend Friday and Saturday going to a funeral as my brother's wife passed away. So sad for him. They were very devoted. :sad1:

Sorry for rambling.

Sorry about your sister in law  Pixie Dust and Blessings :wizard: to you and your family..

As for Home Depot... I know that store all too well... :sad2: Living in a Victorian house that is over 135 years old isn't easy.. :faint: Just when you think you have everything done.. It's time to start all over again.. :laundy:

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I'll be keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Wow, finally caught up! :faint:

Angie - I'm so sorry to hear about your DSIL. I'll keep your family in my prayers.

CinderellyinTx - I don't have you on our brunch list, did you signup with Angie?

Joanne - I'll send you a PM with my email address for the Kids Email group. Also, did you notice your Ticker says that you are going on the Wonder instead of the Magic?? Please don't abandon us!!

Tidoublegger - :welcome: My DD is 9, and will also be in the Lab with your DS.

Jennifer - We did the Tea with Alice on the last cruise and were not impressed. But the younger girls may like it. We got there a bit late, and were sitting near the back. I'd definitely recommend getting there early and sitting up close. And yes, we picked up our tickets at Guest Services, shortly after we boarded.

Stacy - Jasmine LOVES to be spoiled - no worries there! :rotfl: And congratulations on your last pirate: You have definitely come over to the dark side! :rotfl2:

I was one of those folks who started a thread and then abandoned it:scared1:

We were booked on the Halloween cruise for next year, but decided to go to Korea in the Spring instead. I asked some questions though, and apparently this is a big halloween party onboard. I think someone said there is also trick or treating on the ship (I'm sure in the public areas).

My suggestions:

The DIS meet on Embarkation Day

In front of the Mickey Statue on Formal Night - Trying to time it between the 1st and 2nd seatings, but without interfering with Golden Mickeys???

Pirate Night - 8pm? Any ideas where?

Its hard to plan a lot of this stuff before we board. Maybe we can decide on a daily meet time like maybe 10pm after the 2nd show and late dining. If folks show up fine, if not no problem. But just a place to touch base, have a drink, and talk about the next days plans.

Plus we could do a phone tree to help pass messages onboard, since we'll have voicemail in the cabins.

Busy day at work, but I couldn't resist logging in for a few minutes....

So what does everyone think about the 2009 and 2010 rumors? I've already done Alaska, and just can't get excited about it. I think we'll wait on that until after DCL has at least one season under their belt. But we could still do the Panama Canal next year.

And I think Hong Kong in 2010 sounds great! We are due to move back to the States in July 2010, so we'd just need to do the cruise after that. If we do Tokyo Disney and Disneyland Paris next year, and Hong Kong Disney in 2010 we'll have hit all the parks!

Those DVC points are definitely going to be coming in handy!

Oh someone asked about who would take our group photos....

As a former CM, I still automatically volunteer to take the picture when I see Dad or Mom lining up the rest of the family for a shot. One of the first things they teach you in Disney University. :rotfl2: :lmao:

Oh yeah, I would also not recommend taking a backstage tour - especially for the kids. When CMs are backstage it's a completely different environment. You definitely lose the magic.

They did that in Will's Kindergarten class too. Every night, he took a ring off until Christmas. Maybe, I could do something like that for the kids to countdown the trip?

- Jennifer

That's what we did, I think we may have done it for Christmas too. We just did a chain with one loop per day, and at the end of the day we shorten the chain by removing one. Last year I dated them all, and that was a PAIN. This time we just put stickers on some. (Some Mickey and friends alternating with cool ship ones I found on one of my shopping-for-things-I-don't-need excursions.) It's hanging in my front window. Liam hates crafts, but he did do one string of ten--B and I did the other 48.

We did the High Tea on the 10 day cruise.....more sea days, more time to work everything in! We both enjoyed it even though Dennis is not normally a hot tea drinker. He does like iced sweet tea though! They have finger sandwiches (no not actually made out of fingers!). Cucumber sandwiches and such. Very tasty. They also have pastries, scones with jam and clotted cream. They bring all the food to your table on layered serving trays. It is fun, I felt like I should have had a big brimmed hat on though! ;)

I *love* tea. We've done afternoon tea several times, it's always a very civilized occasion, taking the time to slow down and chat with your companions in the middle of the afternoon. We did it at the GF for dd's birthday last year, the kids loved it too, though it'll be fine to do it sans kiddos at Palo! (We also tried tea with Alice at the GF for the kids before that, but they did better in the fancy tea room with us!)

We had always booked 11's before, 12 this time. We spend no time in our room except to sleep and change clothes so we would rather cruise more often in an 11. And we are going 12 GTY from now on! :thumbsup2

Yep, I would rather travel more often. :thumbsup2 THough I usually find a way to pamper myself/us! ;)

You know I think it's hilarious that there are what, 12 or 13 cat 12's on the ship and this thread has about half of them booked! Hey, I'll take the upgrade. I thought we were booking so late so less likely to be bumped up, but it looks like they're still marketing pretty agressively.

I actually just noticed that.. It says WDW & DCL :upsidedow

I'm not the brightess Crayon in the Box

Well, I'm on the wrong boat. :rotfl: Don't know how I switched my ticker back to the orig, booking; have to go find that url again...

Ok, I'll stop board-hogging now that I'm caught up. See ya later...

Where are these rumors and I wonder when something DEFINITE will be announced?? :confused3 Tina and I are REALLY wanting to be on one of the inaugural (sp?) cruises and we're ANXIOUSLY waiting to see where they go with them!!! popcorn:: I don't know if we're going to do anything next year because we're really wanting to put as much money back as possible for a new house, but who knows! :rolleyes1

I am going to be offsite all day at work so I won't be able to post today. :( Happy DISing everyone and have a great day! :goodvibes

WHOOO HOOO!!! Now I might have a chance at a pirate if we get close!!! Now if I can get Stacy, Angie, Wendy, and brack to all work offsite I'll have a chance!!!! :rolleyes1

You are all great! I appreciate the warm welcome! I have been browsing the past posts...boy are you guys fast!! I will take the time later to read the blog and secret santa links. I worked 13 hrs in the ER (I'm a nurse) yesterday so I need to get my act together and get on with my day. My daughter Alex was so awesome about rescheduling this cruise. She is in the 3rd grade and will be enrolling in the Oceaneers Lab. Hopefully this cruise will happen!! I am excited that the ship will be decorated for the holidays! FUN! TTYL! Tracy :)
