I think it would be wonderful to try and plan some special gettogethers as well as link seatings for dinner. Since I will be travelling alone, I would appreciate the opportunity to make some new friends. I might not have kids, but I'm fun, I swear I am!

Well we have two sea days at the start to get to know each other, Dis groups often meet in the promenade lounge, its a good idea, often at dinner there is so much else going on, eating and entertainment you cannot actually get time together.

Its an idea,

What we did on a past DCL was had one persons name connect with all of the main dine and one persons name connect with the late dine. That way everyone is around each another at dinner.

And we also had a 1st meeting the 1st day around the deck party time and we had name tags pre-made so that everyone could wear them around if they wanted too and could know the group.:) that way through out the cruise. Also had T-shirts with the group name and design also.

The deck party is a great idea, and in the Med we had lanyards made for our Dis group, to help meet up, we also posted all our pictures, ( closer to the cruise) on the front page to put names to faces and did lists of disname and real name.

Dinner as posted above is a little different with so much going on I find it difficult to meet up with a large group. You can say hello and good bye, but I found before there was little time for anything else, I have to focus on my kids and help them, food etc.

Definitely Melissa! I am glad we have 19 months to plan all this! :rotfl:

We could not get into the brunch or dinner. I was so upset, then we met a couple from our Disboard meet, who changed their Palo brunch to add us to it. That was so nice, they were so great, and then paid for it.:goodvibes It was definately unexpected, as I was going to offer to pay for their's. The brunch was awesome, we want to definately do it again, and with a Disboard meet as well:rolleyes1 if possible. I don't know about Palo for dinner, we like to eat with our DD. Dinner at home doesn't happen too much(LOL), so it's good to eat together on the ship.

That is very nice,

Now, if you are too young for Palo, it can come to you!

It helps if your head server, had just transfered from Palo!

Nikki-

We had a 7pm Palo dinner so we went to the dining room with the kids for their meal at 5:30, then put them in the clubs. It worked out great. So this is an option for Palo dinner. DH ate an appetizer while the kids had their meal.

Good idea, I once did Palo dinner at 8pm, looked after kids at dinner in main room at 6pm, they went to a film, and we went to Palo, in 2007, I did 6pm, and the servers looked after my kids in the main meal.

Yes, dinner can be busy. :) We thought it was nicer to be around a bunch of people you kind of know rather then around a bunch of people you don't know at all.:)
Nicer to see friendly faces then not.:):grouphug:

Melissa-

Did you get pounded with the storms today? I thought of you because on the AOL welcome screen they have an article about the heavy rains.

All this Palo/meal talk is making me hungry...............

Duh, I didn't think about that. I think we will definately do that on this cruise!! :goodvibes

Andrew-

You are killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you happen to see the chocolate soufflé recipe on the Castaway Club section on-line? I wonder who I can pay to make it for me. :rolleyes1

I have seen it but wouldn't be able to cook it, but yes my head server in the Med was a former Palo server, and when we had a chat, I said my kids keep hearing about Palo, and wanted the Chocolate Soufflé, 'Palo style' but couldn't wait until they were adults.

They in the end had it twice, because we were sharing a table with other Dissers, - The head server organized it for the following night, but the other party couldn't go.

So she repeated it again when they were around.

So my kids had it twice, plus also, when we had an afternoon tea at Palo, my kids looked in and kept walking by outside, The server saw them called them to Palo door and gave them a selection of cakes to have in the stateroom.
