I do wonder why as a former teacher it drives me nuts the amount of homework that comes home for these kids............

How long would you say you spend a night? DD's takes about 10 minutes then we read a book or two. It is crazy what they load on them. I thought it was bad enough when we were in school. :sad2:

Sitting here making some winter plans..... looking for tickets for the IMAX U2-3D movie that opens next week in Philly.... Also, two new exhibits open at The Franklin Institute next month - "Real Pirates" and "Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination". Both seem very cool.

OOh, DH would really like the Star Wars exhibit.. Do you have a link that I can have him check that out????????????Thanks,!!!!!!!!

OK Personal Milestone here coming up, I will post both on the Panama 2008 repo thread and the Eastern-Tortola -2009, thread, in succession.

CONGRATS AGAIN ANDREW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I felt funny to be out it had been sooo very looong. Since Christmas Eve..........But since I contracted that icky infection it set me really back further.

How is the new IPOD?????????????

I ended up getting the 4GB nano. I think for a first one, it should do everything I want it to. It took me a minute to figure out how to turn it on ;) , but I did manage to do some of the settings already. Need to go through the tutorial. I dig this kind of stuff! When I got my cell I was like a kid in a candy store, and even swiped DH's cell to set his up.

Anyone thought yet what they want to do at the ports as far as excursions, etc.??????.

Yes...Last cruise we did the Doubloon in St.Thomas and loved it!! May do it again or maybe one of the private daysails. There are some that get awesome reviews on cruise critic. If anyone is interested in doing one of the private ones together let me know. I was thinking about the dolphin encounter in Tortola but I am not sure. I have mixed emotions about those :confused3

:confused3 :confused3 :scared1: DH wants to watch Star Wars tonight he got something at WalMart today with Star Wars and the TV guy?????:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Oh, the day sails sound nice. So does the Dolphin encounter. We did one in the Bahamas and it was GREAT......

Ever wonder why teachers and parents continue to insist on overloading kids with homework when there are no definitive studies proving its overall learning benefits?

Are your kids in high-pressure, competitve districts/schools? The elementary my kids go to is an Ohio school of distinction so they put more pressure on the kids in this particular school. But I have been told by other parents and teachers that the other two elementary schools in our district are not that way. It's odd how it can vary in the same district.

Me too actually! :rotfl2: In all reality I'm not that crazy about dancing. But if I've had drinks, or its a chance to embarrass the kids then I'm all for it!

I say the more we can embarss them the better.....LOL!!!!!!!!!

Well we are supposed to read and do sight words every night which takes about ten to fifteen minutes then if any other worksheets, projects come home. We get a monthly project to once a month that has to be done. They are a wicked pain in the neck to do.......They take forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See I think it sounds like so much fun but then I read those sites that talk about the animals being treated badly and being forced to do things and I feel bad. Did the dolphins seem abused when you went?

The day sails do sound nice. Most of them you can stay out all day if you want. They provide breakfast and lunch and take you to different snorkel sights. However we LOVED the Doubloon last cruise. The crew was great and on the way back the painkillers do not stop. :drinking1 I didn't realize how much I had until I stood up to get off the boat :upsidedow :tilt: They were really tasty though!

It looks very cool! The Millennium Falcon ride looks good! Your DH is a big fan?

C'mon down!
