08/08/07 Well, Olbia Monkey's Uncle! We're cruisin' on the 10nt Med Cruise!

On another board I read, a family also cruising the DCL 8/8 10nt received their docs today!!!

Donna - Regarding the gift exchange...and forgive me, I am a novice! Let me know if I've got it right...For those on your "gift exchange list".

We bring enough gifts for each stateroom
We place the gifts at the door and for those that have "fish extenders" - in the pocket(s).

My question is - when do we hand out the gifts? Also, can you please confirm # of staterooms - want to be sure I don't make a mistake.

Thanks so much..

Jill

It is your option of how you want to handle the gift exchange. You can have 1 gift per stateroom or one per person, your choice. I am doing one per stateroom. I plan on placing the gift on top of the fish bythe door for those without a fish extender and in the fish extender for those that have one. There are 26 staterooms on the liist. I will post a schedule for handing out the gifts so everyone does not do it the same day. I will post this on Saturday 7/21.

If anyone participating in the gift exchange has a preference for distributing their gift at the beginning of the cruise, please let me know.

Welcome David and Dyan. We are a friendly group that is still getting to know one another. Please see the link on page one post one for all the information so far.

I have updated everyone's information as requested and added our new posters. Welcome to all of you. I will keep things updated as best I can.

I don't really have a peference, but we are not getting off the ship for Rome so this would be a good day for us to distribute gifts and it might be a bad day for others.....so we would be happy to do this day.

Welcome to everyone new...and welcome back scrappycruiser - we missed you!!!! Sounds like you had a great beach vaca and well relaxed for our journey! Well we are packed and weighed - just two pairs of sandals need to be added. :goodvibes

Did any DVC members receive a message from DCL about airport transfers? I am not tickled by the message they left, seeing that every time I call DCL they tell me I have to go through DVC - even for hotel names, hence why we did the hotel and taxi on our own. I called about our final documents and they said to expect them a week before, but if I needed to change my address to call DVC. Anyway, Gina the short answer is they told me to expect the final documents 7-10 days before the cruise and if you registered on-line all you basically receive is luggage tags. :rolleyes1

It is almost time:boat: Have a great night!

I know what you mean about having to go through DVC for everything...then they still have to call DCL :confused3 . I did not receive any notice from DVC about transfers. What was that all about ? We are staying at the Hilton and have purchased transfers from hotel to pier and from the pier to the airport.I'm hoping we'll be able to check in for the cruise at the hotel even though we booked the hotel on our own.
So it looks like we won't get the DOCS til next week.:dance3:

Donna, Sat, the 11th ( Naples) would be good for me since we're only doing a short tour to Pompeii. Thanks for keeping us all straight !

I think we get the ****y prize for changing our plans so much ! Sorry !

Changes : Palermo....Village of Cefalu
Naples......On our own to Pompeii ( with DIS group )
Villefrance.. Nice & Monaco

:grouphug: GINA

I filled out all of the docs online except for the guest information. It doesn't allow you to select anything outside of the US. Does anyone else have this problem or am I not seeing something I should? :confused3

Are you referring to the selection of flights? Most people have just called DCL and had them enter the info for them.

I called and got the movie listing for the trip. Don't shoot me for the misspellings. I was using my own version of shorthand.:lmao:

While on board we will see: :happytv:

Meet the Robinsons

Pirates of the Caribbean 3
The Incredibles
Invincable
Ratatouille

Casino Royale
Pirates of the Caribbean 2
Phantom of the Opera

Moulin Rouge

Great news for us. DCL called today and I was ale to move our second cabin out from under the bar. So now we are in 2620 and 2066. While on the phone with the supervisor she told me the documents for our cruise have been processed and are being mailed out.

Thank you everyone for all your updates for your plans and your preferences for the gift exchange. I will get the list updated tonight.

Donna - Could I please be scheduled to gift give at the beginnimng of the cruise? My gift has a "Bon Voyage" theme, so the earlier the better. Thanx much!

Hi everyone,

For those of you who can't sew, can't craft, and are bewildered about the fish extender (the organizer thingy that hangs off of your fish light outside your cabin), Lillian Vernon has a new product -- "2 locker pockets that are magnetized". The pockets look pretty sturdy and come in purple, pink or blue. You get two of these for $7.98. For all of you participating in the exchange -- my "fish extender" will not be on the fish, but on our stateroom door. ;)

They also have some very reasonable priced "over the door locker organizers" for anyone who wants to have an organizer hung inside their stateroom for KTTW cards, ticket stubs, notes to cabin sterward, etc.

If possible, we would like to distribute our gifts fairly early on too -- I don't want to give the surprise away, but it will be something fun to keep on your door during the cruise.

Thanks Donna for all of the organizing! I don't know about the rest of you, but I am getting slightly apprehensive and nervous as we get closer to our date. I am over the planning -- I have now moved on to serious anxiety!:scared1:

There are 18 people participating in the gift exchange so we will have two people everyday except the day we embark and the day we disembark. I have something that could be useful on excursions so I would like to give mine early on as well. I am tracking all requests and will post the final schedule on Saturday.

I am starting to get excited and am mentally going through my checklist to make sure I am covering everything. I guess we are getting close enough that I can actually start using this printed check list I borrowed from the July 28th forum.

Yes, I too am ready for this trip!! We have even stopped reading the blogs - I think we have overplanned now! :confused3 I think work, family and friends are ready for us to be gone as well.:rotfl:

Thanks for the movie listings - what a great idea calling DCL!! I really hope they do something big for HS2 on Aug 17.

Nordkin, glad to hear about your room exchange, I am so happy for you.

Excited to meet everyone!

Any idea how many of us are planning on doing pompeii or at least the train portion together??? I have been gathering info on how to get there and it does not sound too complicated but was wondering if anyone had set a time and place to meet or perhaps PM'ed those interested parties to work out the details?

UGH getting so close and not a single suitcase is organized....:scared:

Hello everyone, just it seem like the days are longer now-a-days? I love my job but now the days seem like they are at a stand still.

This vacation is going to seem so far away now.:scared:

Nordkin thanks for listing the document, I printed it out and think its great. I will start using it as the days get closer.

Do you have the item number for the 2 locker pockets that are magnetized? I think I would be interested in purchasing them, but I can't seem to locate them on the website.
TIA

What a great packing list!!! :thumbsup2 I have saved it for future trips. The other great thing about this list is if you loose a piece of luggage, you can easily remember what was in it, especially if you need to fill out forms for a claim. Has anyone else been paying attention to all the lost luggage?
