For Dukenukem, (us)DH name is Dennis, DW (me) is Deb and our son is Daniel who is 9 going on 12 in sixth grade. We are called the 3 D's. We're in the Roy Disney (8530) suite for the last 10 day med cruise and are doing the repo cruise, as well. We are thinking of going to Mickey World in Fla, for a week, when we arrive back home. Son is homeschooled, so I don't have to worry about school dates. No pressure.
We are in late seating for both cruises, much easier to get ready for dinner plus we have already seen the shows several times. (6th and 7th cruise in two years.) Our son always eats with us. Trouble is most of the 8-12 year olds are in the early seating, is that correct?
I am disappointed that the semi-formal night is on the same night as the Monte Carlo casino night, don't think there is time to do both, might have to switch to an early dinner for that night, so that we can eat and get out to the casino. The Grand Casino is really something to see, even if you don't gamble. It was the casino featured in the James Bond movies. Very very fancy and beautiful.
Not sure what excursions to do yet as they all seem a bit boring for kids.Too much history, too much walking (for kids) and I don't think my son will be dazzled (translation....care one whit) by the churches and will sleep thru any motor coach rides of scenery. Catacombs are not really for the under teenage set as they might cause nightmares. Seeing just the outsides of castles are not quite the same thing as exploring them. Have to be 21 to go to the vinyards, so if we want to go, son has to stay on the ship. I really do wish they had geared the excursions to be a little bit more child friendly. There was alot for the adults but seems a bit lacking on the child side.
As I lived in Nice and the south of France for a few years, I will be striking out on my own in France.(Am fluent in French) I am looking forward to buying some cheese, wine and pastry and having a picnic. I heard that the ship will not let you bring wine on board, is that so? Also, I'm going to have a real French lunch at a bistro for several hours and then maybe go clothes shopping for me.
Anyone know how the soap factory tour is? I'll probably buy my own soap downtown.
I would also like to buy some gold bracelets in Italy and do lunch there as well. Then it will be off to buy kids clothes. I buy Italian in the states and pay a fortune, better to buy them at the source. Any suggestions for Italy?
Has anyone heard what the weather will be like? Hot in the day and chilly at night? Right now it is 118 degrees here in Vegas, so anything less will be welcome. It might seem down right cold at 80

I would like to meet all the scrapbookers out there and am bringing several kits to do on the repo cruise. I have several different Disney mini-books that are being completed and will bring them.
Well, later,

) Deb
