Are you packed yet? My boys cannot believe that I've staged nearly everything (except what is ordered and awaiting delivery) when they think back to my work travel schedule. I would always pack the morning I left! Of course, I was used to that schedule and was only packing for ONE! Now there are WAY more moving parts to consider!

Deb (who is taking the boys to dance lessons tonight!)

Deb...this is the craziest month ! Right now we have our oldest Grandson visiting us for a week. Next week we're going to Myrtle Beach with 2 sisters and my brother and their families for a week. Then the next week I'm teaching VBS. THEN I'll pack :rotfl2: !! However, I've made my clothing list and have even planned what to wear what day..Isn't that sick :rotfl2: !

BTW, we've decided my husband and Grandson won't wear tux's and I'll wear simple black. Think we'll keep this cruise as simple and cool as possible !

:cool2: GINA

We are from southern, southern Maryland (anyone ever heard of Point Lookout?). NO airport is convenient, so we'll fly out of my favorite. We leave IAD on 07 AUG on LH, go through FRA, and get to BCN on 08 AUG.

Deb

Of course I have heard of Point Lookout. I have family down there. I am the blacksheep of the family because I am the only one, including the extended family, that does not live in Charles, Anne Arundale(sp), or St Mary's county.

My boys were looking forward to dressing up (no kidding, though they're loathe to admit it outside of talking to me!) but we decided that the 10-day would be busy enough without doing all the formal and semi-formal events. We'll just hang out as a family somewhere else during those events. One of those nights is my birthday, so we'll probably have a little ice cream celebration unless we can get a reservation to Palo!

We are doing the 14-day repo cruise just after this one, so we will rent tuxes for them then. There is a little group down here that offers dancing lessons and I told all my boys last night, while giving them a little culture at the River Concert series, that we were going to this month's lesson (tonight) so they could learn some REAL moves! Of the 5 boys (includes my 2 nephews), only 2 were mildly interested. The rest will NOT be outdone, and my husband just gives me that incredulous look that says, "I can't believe you're going to subject us all to this!"

Unbelieveable! Most people have NO idea where this is! Of course, when folks come back who have been away for a while, they hardly recognize it because of the growth ... myself included! And I DO live here! I've just moved further and further south until my next move would put my firmly in the water!

Gina - My husband and son will be wearing suits. I am bringing a simple dress and a pantsuit for formal and semiformal nights. What with the airline weight restrictions and the length of our trip, got to keep it simple.

I have all the stuff that I bought for the trip all over the floor in bags - hats, plugs for Europe, etc. Got to order a couple more travel accessories, but pretty much shopping is done. My son is now overseas on his youth group trip. He gets back three days before we leave for London. We will basically unpack and wash his clothes, and then repack. I am going to print out packing lists and start about a week before on our things. I am vowing that we will not be packing last minute this trip.

Clueless San Fran - where did you find your fish extender? We have started looking and can't find one. Thanks. I hope you have good luck on your travels and make our DIS meet.

Since we are leaving early, we probably won't know what our cabin is before we go. I am hoping that our cabin # is posted early.

Sharon...have a wonderful pre-cruise vacation !:grouphug:

I would also like to know where to get the fish extenders :confused3

I hope so! I have been checking everyday! :woohoo:

Hello Sharon,

It's neither Disney's fish extenders, nor elaborate homemade fish extenders like the ones posted on this site but it will do the job. I found it in a dollar-store in SF Chinatown. It has embroidered images of the Golden Gate Bridge and Cable cars, typical San Fran stuff. I bought some Disney stickers and I thought I could stick them outside the cabin door until I read some posts and learned that Disney strictly prohibited stickers on their cabin doors. I think they allowed magnets only. Bummer! By the way, do we have a designate DISers' secretary in the event some of us could not make the meeting? Who would like to volunteer to keep minutes and diseminate this info to the few stragglers like us. We may need our own DISers' Navigator. We already have Donna as our Capitainne.

Clueless

By the way, is anyone planning a trip to Herculaeneum?
We are planning on visiting both Pompeii and Herculaneum!

We have a Tour of Pompeii & The Amalfi Coast out of Naples on 8/11 booked with DriveAmalfi and they still have Driver/Guides and Vans available if anyone is interested and they can be contacted at info@driveamalfi.com.
We have put in for a quote from Drive Amalfi. Which Driver/Guide will you have for your tour?

I love your sense of humor. I am planning on having a list of DISer's and their stateroom assignments to distribute at the DIS meet. For those unable to make the meet, I will have them available by the door to my stateroom. The best scenario is we all receive our assignments and are able to post them here so I can update the list well in advance of people leaving for Europe.

Another question to get you guys thinking - are any of you making signs for your stateroom doors? If so, remember they have to be attached to the door by a magnet, no tape. There is a wonderful thread on how to do this on the general cruise forum. http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=838817 I am making signs for our doors so it should be easy to tell if it is my stateroom.

Avery makes ink jet magnet sheets that youu can find in most office supply stores. I always use this for my stateroom signs. :grouphug: GINA

I put in a request to have the thread title fixed. Recall I/we had it changed back in April. Ever since then, I felt it hasn't read right. I keep looking at it and I finally figured out why. My bad! I realized that the way I asked the mod to title it has an extra "a" in it. It's supposed to be a play on 'well I'll be a monkey's uncle' with the 'I'll be a' replaced with the port name of Olbia. I had her do 'Olbia a ' which doesn't make sense. Like I said - my bad!

So I have PM'd her to ask to take that extra "a" (and space) out of our title so it reads as cleverly as intended. :thumbsup2

Hi all, so glad you are all packing too and almost done! Everyone here at home thinks I am crazy!! :lmao: I picked up the last item today, and hopefully that will be everything. I know we will still forget something! We have been weighing as we go! :thumbsup2

Fish extenders - try the locker pockets. Do you have a Big Lots in your area? May be worth a look. Cannot remember if it was big lots or Christmas Tree Shop. Clueless - ours says Drama Queen - although that fits my DD well and may fit her even better after her next two weeks of acting camp, I was planning on decorating it with DVC pins. I would like to think they will be safe :confused3 Worse case scenario - hang a pillow case???? :rotfl2:

Whoever receives there state room first, please post so we can all go on and see if we have a room. :rolleyes1

It's getting closer!!!!!:dance3:

Hi Deb,

Yes, I'm from MD originally. My mom lived in Lusby for a number of years and I have lots of friends from Tall Timbers area from college. Welcome!

Funny Donna! Me too! Lots of family in Charles, Anne Arundale, Montgomery and PG counties! I'm the only one in Virginia!

Funny Nancy, I didn't even notice! Guess I'm clueless!
