08/08/07 Well, Olbia Monkey's Uncle! We're cruisin' on the 10nt Med Cruise!

For those of you that have late seating...why did you choose this seating ? We have late,also, but not by choice.We've always had early seating just because that's when we eat at home. We're on the waitlist for early, but maybe we should keep what we have ??? Any thoughts on this?

Also, was curious how many of you ( like us ) haven't been assigned a cabin yet ?

We had early seating on our first cruise and just found it was way too early -- getting ready for dinner and getting to dinner so early really cut into our afternoon time. Also, we found that we stayed up later in general on the cruise, so the later dinner time didn't matter. In particular, with the Med cruise being such an intensive port cruise, we didn't want to be trying to get back to the ship by 5PM from Rome or Florence, for instance. So those are our reasons -- although I know that most people seem to be fans of early seating.

We always select late dinner seating because we eat late at home and prefer to see the shows before dinner. We also do not have to rush to get ready for dinner on shore days.

We too are waiting for cabin assignments. Hard to believe we booked so many months in advance and could only get GTY, but at least we are on the ship and are guaranteed the lowest category we were willing to stay in. We also booked out flights through Disney and are waiting for those as well. The reason we booked the flights with them was the prices were not dropping and their cost was about the same as we could get ourselves. This way we know we will get to the airport on time after the cruise and if flights change it is Disney's responsibility to handle it for us.

We 've always had late seating on our previous cruises; we like it so much because you don't need to rush to get prepared for dinner.
Also, we like to chat with our tablecompanions (sometimes till late after dinner), and with no next seating after us, that's never a problem. Keep what you have, Gina, it's much more fun!

It will be the first time we sail with our son; we'll celebrate his 5th birthday on board (august 12th). Concerning the late hour of dining, we don't consider that a problem, because at home he usually sleeps not very early.

We think he'll eat with us; we're not sure yet about the clubs: since our native language is dutch, we don't know yet how he will interact with the councellors and with the other kids... We'll try and see how it works.

Is there anybody who has already some experience on this matter?

On our last cruise, my girls were 14, 11, and 9, and they all ate with me every night. I found that the servers work hard to entertain the kids and keep things moving so that it doesn't get boring for the younger ones. We plan to eat together every night on the med cruise as well.

Got my DVD today ! Did everyone get yours ? It actually came at a perfect time, cause we're going to see my Grandson, Jack,this weekend.And he's going on the cruise with us. Give him a little taste of the Med .

A belated thank you for those welcoming us to this cruise.

Nordkin - A meet and greet on the first sea day sounds great.

This is our second cruise. We tried a 3 night Disney cruise last summer and loved it. My 16 YO was my biggest concern, as I didn't know if he would want to do the teen activities. Basically, we didn't see him very much except at dinner. He had a blast with the other teens.

I am going to be on-line at midnight this Thursday (as we are west coast people) trying to book excursions and Palo's. We are planning mostly Disney excursions, as this is our first time in Europe and we don't want to risk missing the ship.

We got our DVD and watched it this weekend. It helped set the mood. I just wish it had more info on the excursions and ports. It is a tough choice trying to pick the excursions we would enjoy the most. I think I have it sorted out as best as possible. I will be looking forward to seeing the trip reports from Europe.

I would love to hear all of your great ideas and thoughts.
