08/08/07 Well, Olbia Monkey's Uncle! We're cruisin' on the 10nt Med Cruise!

I wanted to see the Catacombs ! But it said recommended for 13 and older. Jack's 10. What an interesting thing to see. And besides, I'm a big Forensic File fan . :lmao: Gina

Scrapy -

We'd also like to do Palermo for Kids -
I wonder how many different tours of this one (2 or 3?) they have running that day?

We are a family of 4 - with girls ages 9 & 11.5 ---- staying on Deck 7.

I saw the age recommendation but my kids said that they would be fine with seeing the petrified bodies. Quote "That would be really cool"!!! We've had a few discussions so I guess we are going to try it. They are 9 and 12.

Here is a dumb question -- we are in California, so can we book excursions beginning at 12 AM?

Should I book Palo's first, or the excursions first?

Thanks,

Sharon

UMTerp...ENJOY ! like I said, would love to see it...that's the problem with these ports. There's so much to see, but can't see it all !

Sharon...I guess it depends on what your priorities are. Since we've dined at Palo's before but have never been to the Med, I think I'll try and book the shore excursions first. :confused3

Good Luck ,everyone ! Hope you get what you want :surfweb: GINA

Not a dumb question -- you are quite lucky and can book at midnight!

Usually I would say book palo first but for these you might want to do the excursions first . . . I keep hearing they are going fast.

Good luck to everyone tonight!

I would appreciate some feedback in that I am torn between the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. I think my 16 YO would rather do Pompeii, but since I read somewhere that it is very hot with no shade, I am reluctant to book it. We are planning to book the Florence and Rome tours, so he will get a lot of history, plus we are going to see Stonehenge in England before the cruise.

Are any of you going to book the Monaco evening tour?

In an unrelated topic, this is a response I got from DCL regarding The Feast of Assumption: (As I had mentioned, this is all new to me)

"As you know, The Feast of Assumption is an annual pilgrimage which takes
place in France, on August 15, 2007. The site of this popular event
culminates at the Notre-Dame de la Garde in Marseille.

Guests on the 10-Night Mediterranean Cruise sailing commencing on 8/8/07
may encounter a higher than usual volume of tourists and traffic when
visiting Marseille. However, the church will still be open for the
shore excursions being offered. In addition, all tourist shopping
venues will be open in Marseille."

Thanks again,

Sharon

Hello Gina,

The catacombs sound very interesting ! Are you doing this on your own ?
I would really like to visit them too, but it will be nothing for our 5 year old son ! To scary ! My DH would stay on board with him.

Depending on how difficult they are to reach I would go on my own too, but I'm not too keen on beeing "a lonely tourist" in Palermo..:cool2:

The site to go to to book excursions is what?

disneycruise.com or disneygo.com?

I suppose we need our res # to do it!?

MegnWalt...I am going to try and book Palermo for Kids .If it's not available,

will book the Catacombs. I prefer not to rely on local transportation.

Catjammies... Why don't you do a trial run :
Go to disneycruise.com
Log in
My Disney Cruise
Retrieve Reservation ( your res # and birthdate )
Then go to My Cruise Plans

If there is any problem you can call DCL and have them
straighten it out before you go to book

I called them today just to make sure they had me down as a Castaway Cay member. Gina

As far as Sorrento vs Pompeii I would go to Pompeii, just because I've read so many great reviews. Also, if that tour includes the Amalfi Coast you'll see the best part ! But, I would only do Pompeii if you plan to hire a guide ( 50 E /hr ). I've heard people have been disappointed with the headsets and with nothing ,it just wouldn't mean much.

We are on this cruise, too. It is me, DH, DDs (9, 10 and 11) and DMIL and DFIL. I cannot wait.

Welcome Aboard, Momma and your family !! Will you be booking shore excursions tonight ? 1st or 2nd seating ; do you have a cabin yet ? I agree.... it's very exciting !!! :dance3:

Hi Scrapycruiser,

Yes, I'll be up trying to schedule excursions for 7! We are at 1st seating and in cabin 8062.

It's been a long while since I have been on. My last post is on page 14 or 15 wow! How is everyone doing? The time is very near. We sent in our final payment 2 weeks ago and we are ready...well almost...we are chancing the whole airfare thing to see if we can get a good deal.

Hopefully everyone has had a good year. The fun is right around the corner. Summer in California is fast approaching.

Good luck with the airfare -- I have heard of people who found good airfare deals once the summer started and the airlines think most people with plans have already bought tickets. I don't have the nerve, though and bought our tickets last year!

Congrats on getting what you wanted. The time change works wonderfully for your online booking -- lucky you! I'm not doing any DCL excursions, but I did get up and got Palo brunch on our first day at sea and various spa appointments I wanted for both sea days.

I hope everyone else had good luck with booking . . .
