08/08/07 Well, Olbia Monkey's Uncle! We're cruisin' on the 10nt Med Cruise!

We will be looking into going to DLP for a few days either before or after the cruise. We figure, if we're that close, we should at least to try to visit another Disney park.

My DW and I will be on the 8/8/07 cruise. We will be 27 at the time.

We'll be in Cat 8 #2072 Late Dining

DCL here we come again!!!
People at work think I am a freak cause I am a 26 yr old man that is in love with DCL. I call it jealousy :stir:

I'm in college and one of my best friend absolutely hates Disney (she'd actually cry if I sat her down in front of Beauty and the Beast) Personally, I think she's crazy! I'm a Disney Fanatic and proud of it!

On one of the other Med threads.. DISers are putting their categories/room numbers and early or late dining... I think it's a good idea. Then we can get to know each other better and share tips or advice. I'll start...

Arica480- late dining- cat 6
Gupsmom- early dining- cat 10
4fosterkids- early dining - cat. 5
J&B Disney
Dalt Wisney
UMTerp
WendyO
JamesF408- late dining- cat. 8

J&B Disney - Early Dining - Cat 7

We are booked on the 8/8 B2B with the return repo. Definitley doing the repo but still unsure about the 10nt med.

We are a group of 6 in connecting Cat 6s on Deck 6. Early Dining.

and can I say "I AM SO JEALOUS" of you both!! hahaha
I really wanted to do the repo cruise, but a teacher in our group could not due to returning to school prior to the return to land, and the rest of the group really wanted to see all the ports. I'm still dreaming about those sea days....

We are also on the 8/8 10-day Med. B2B with the Repo home.
We are in a Cat 3 with connecting Cat 4. Late Dining
We are a group of 7 -- Me, DH, DD13, DD10, DS9, DS7, and DD5 (at time of sailing)

Even though this trip is 16 months away I can't seem to get away from the Internet - checking this site, looking up ports, travel tips, etc. I think I'm developing an obsession for Disney cruises!!

Princess Cruises has a good excursion list online for some of our ports. I can't wait until Disney lists something!!

I'm so excited too! 16 months will go by quickly hopefully. I already have my ticker going! :teeth:

Please post any useful info you come across. Its never to early to start planning!
Thanks

Well, I just put down a deposit for this cruise today! :Pinkbounc I will be traveling with DH, and two DS - They will be 4 and 8 at the time of the cruise. We have a cat 9 with late dining. I suppose we would have chosen early dining but it was all gone because we were kind of slow on the draw apparently. I am sure there are good things about late dining as well. :confused3

It's so far away, but we are getting excited! We are trying to decide now how we want to get to Barcelona and how many days we want to add onto the front. It will be fun deciding!

Thanks again, Arica for keeping the thread from becoming to burried to find! :goodvibes I look forward to getting to know people ahead of time and on the ship, too!

Welcome! Late seating is wonderful, at least in my opinion. That being said, the past two times I've been on the cruise, I've had late seating. I just like it because I don't feel rushed to get out and see the shows. By the time I'm having dinner, I've already been to the early show. The only time I was rushed out of dinner, was when the Super Bowl was on. At late dining, I feel better about relaxing , enjoying and eating dinner, rather than having to constantly keep an eye on my watch because the Golden Mickeys are in 20 mins. Hope that helps.

Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

It does help, thanks! There are plusses and minuses to everything, I suppose. I had already thought that the later seating might be an advantage from the perspective of not having to scramble to get to dinner after a shore excursion, though I guess you still would scramble to get to the early show, perhaps? This is our first cruise and I just don't know how the whole thing works in practice yet! Thank again for your persective. :)

I've only ever been on one other cruise and we had early dining. I think I would enjoy the late dining better but my DS is a diabetic and takes insulin. We have to keep to his meal schedule as much as possible and the late dining would just be too late for him.

That said, the early dining was good. I didn't feel rushed at all - either getting to supper on time or making the shows after on time. I thought that Disney was very well organized for the number of people they were feeding every night.

I wouldn't worry about late dining at all. I went 2 years ago on DCL Wonder (seems like yesterday) and everything was very organized and never rushed. Those crazy cast members are totally on top of things. You will enjoy it very much. Housekeeping was amazing, the second you left the room they were in there, when you came back, its like entering for the first time again. If anyone is newly weds or anniversary couples I highly recommend the couples massage! :thumbsup2 It was definatly relaxing and the folks there were awesome. I have to say the character sitings were awesome too! I never knew I was such a kid until I saw Mickey, Minnie, and the whole gang that I could take pictures with. It was awesome. My timer is counting. Even though I have one trip before the DCL cruise that I still have to prep for, I am looking forward to next year. :Pinkbounc I never knew I could over use the word awesome so much before...AWESOME :teeth:

The following info was listed on the Mousesavers site;

"A few bits of info about these special (Med) itineraries:

Disney will offer optional airfare for these cruises.
An add-on package for Disneyland Paris will be available (pre- or post-cruise).
There will be new food offerings onboard, featuring regional menus based on the Mediterranean destinations.
Shore excursions will be a good mix of family-oriented, relaxing and ambitious/sightseeing - everything from a day at the beach to a day in the museums.
There will be onboard daycare options on port days so that parents can take shore excursions without the kids if they wish.
Disney is aware that many guests on these cruises will be repeat passengers, so there will be a focus on creating new experiences.
Tenders (small boats ferrying passengers from the ship to shore) will be required at the ports of La Spezia and Villafranche. "
