08/08/07 Well, Olbia Monkey's Uncle! We're cruisin' on the 10nt Med Cruise!

My 22 year old daughter is joining us. We were also on the Eastbound Panama Canal Cruise in 05.

Wonderful ... we were a little concerned that there wouldn't be many onboard around her age.
Was your daughter on the Panama too? Wonder if our daugher's know each other from that Cruise?

Kugalbelle,
We were placed on the waitlist for both cruises when we reserved the cruises last year as soon as they were first announced. We are still waiting on the 10 day but we were notified last Tuesday for the transatlantic. We upgraded immediately and paid in full the next day so I could reserve excursions before the 90 day for castaway members. I still have to get up at 3am tonight to take care of my in-laws excursions and Palo.

Thanks for the info, was just wondering what the time frame was in respect to sail date.

Yes, my daughter was on the Panama Canal cruise as well. She spent a lot of time with her younger brother who was 17 at the time. She did participate in the adult activities at night and did go to the get togethers for the 18-20 somethings. This cruise neither of my sons will be joining us.

Kugabelle....THANKS SO MUCH !!!! I had tears in my eyes watching and listening to your video ! You were so nice to do that for all of us ! :cheer2: GINA

In today's New York Times magazine supplement, "Summer Travel," there is an article about six Mediterrean islands that fly "under the radar" and are great to go to without a lot of crowds -- Sardinia was one of the six!

Thank you for doing this. The fireboat spraying water reminded me of the send off we received in LA when we left for the Pananma Canal cruise in 05.

Oh - I know .... brought back some great memories :)

They must know each other then. My daughter will be back home after finals around the 23rd June ..... will ask her who she remembers from the Panama.

My daughter's name is Alessa. Not common, so maybe your daughter will remember her.

Our DD who's turning 21 on the 11-night prior to this cruise absolutely loves all the dressing up for the formal and semi-formal evenings. Even though she's busy stressing with finals etc (finishes College/University on Jun 22nd and graduates on Jul 18th) she called us this evening to say that she's been thinking about the cruises and already know's what she'll be wearing for the total of 8 dress-up evenings.:)

My husband and I are a little older than your daughter but I would thing that we would be close. I am 26 and He is 25 well almost he will be 25 in October. It will be nice to see people close to our age.

Hello there,

I just joined today and have enjoyed reading this thread for nearly a year now. I still don't have all of the lingo down, but thought I would join now in the hopes of sharing valuable information and getting to meet fellow cruisers before our trip.

I will be traveling with my DH, and DS (4) and DD (6). THis will be our third cruise with Disney, and we are looking forward to new and exciting adventures.

Is there a place to list our cabin number? Also, has a meeting place been finalized? We have registered for a few things, but we tend to visit ports on our own and are looking forward to getting lost and stumbling around Europe. This trip is my 10th wedding anniversary gift from my husband and we are hoping to celebrate on the Magic.

We will be in Barcelona for 1 day prior to the cruise and for 2 days after. We are staying at a hotel on Las Ramblas, and we cannot wait to wander around and get lost in the city.

I will post our schedule on my next post. I still don't know how to post -- I hit "reply" -- is that the way to do it? No time to read the instructions, so hopefully, one of you veterans will help out.
For example, how do I set up an automatic signature line, like the rest of you folks?

I think we are meeting at 1:30 on Deck 10 near the Family pool the 1st day at sea for a meet and greet. I am not sure if we decided on an indoor location if there is bad weather. There is a list of cruisers on page 29 that I believe is being updated periodically. I just posted a reply with all our info and it was updated ( thanks BTW ). It is getting more and more exciting the closer we get. We leave in 76 days:woohoo: , and have puppies due anytime now so things are really heating up around here. :yay:

To create your signature: I clicked on quick links and edit signature and you can put anything in there. I can't remember now how i did the picture it was in one of the 1st few pages . I think Arica explained that. Hope that helps

Thanks for the information! I will try that trick with the signature line. Good luck with the puppies -- that's a handful!
I just emailed Norkin (sp?) with our cabin and dining info. I will try and post our schedule tomorrow. I know that one of the few excursions we booked was the morning trip to La Cinta beach -- I saw that several of the DISers are on that excursion, so that will be fun. I think we also signed up for the Castellet visit with wine tasting but may cancel if we think we may have more fun taking the train to Aix-en-Provence or Avignon for the day on our own. I have an anniversary surprise for my husband -- I booked a spa villa treatment for 2 -- has anyone done this before? We cruised on the DCL in 2002 and 2004 and the spa villas were not an option (or at least I wasn't aware of them). I would like the opinion of anyone on this discussion board who has experienced a spa villa or knows of someone who has.

Lastly, does anyone know the schedule for the various entertainment nights and themed nights? Like the Pirate Party, what night do you think that will b e on? And my daughter really wants to do Wendy's tea party again, and I am worried that it will be the same day as our Palo High tea.

Okay, last question, I promise.... Since we will be in Barcelona for one day prior to the cruise departure date, DH and I were thinking of buying some Spanish wine and Cava and bringing it on board for our trip. Do you know whether this is allowed? Don't want to bother to buy the wine and have to toss it at the port.

Many thanks!
Jeanie P

Welcome, JeanieP and family !!!! This will be a wonderful vacation for us all !! Me,Gina ,my husband and 11 yr old grandson will be onboard. We don't have a cabin assigned yet...just a Cat. 6 Gty. Yes, you are correct..just click reply and chat away ! I love reading these boards. I have learned alot.If you want info about a subject, like Euros ,for instance just do a search. Did you sign up for any Disney tours ? We're doing Palermo for Kids and La Cinta Beach in Olbia and in Villefrance, Monoco,Monte Carlo and Eze. The rest we're doing with private drivers. :cloud9:

Everybody...Are any men renting tux on the ship. Husband thought it'd help not having to bring dress shoes or a suit ? Haven't seen info on tux yet. Maybe that's not an option ?? :confused3

Giggles...Hi ! What kind of puppies are you having ? I have 2 Cavaliers.
I hate to leave them when we travel !!! Weren't you the first to
write on this board ? Seems like I used to read your posts last year.

Just curious...how many travel books have you bought ? I think we have
3 or 4 on each country. And I've read them all !!! No, I'm
not excited...:rotfl: GINA

Per cruiseline:
Pirate night is Aug 15 - Marseille. Formal night is Aug 9th - 1st day at sea. Semi formal night is Aug 16th - Villefrance

When we embark at Port Canaveral, we always bring wine on the ship. I do not know if there is a problem with doing that in Spain. I have been told by a DCL CM, that they will have French, Spanish and Italian wines to go with that day's schedule.
It is our anniversary, too. I would love to book the villas but my husband has no desire to do that. I tried on our last cruise. I think he is uncomfortable with someone massaging him? So I will go to the spa myself and be pampered. It is our 14th anniversary and my in-laws 44th!

I think that Arica was the 1st to post but I was on really soon. We started our count down at 474 days. It is now 76days and I am sooo Excited!!!

We have German Shepherds. It will be the 1st time that we leave them we usually are able to take them with us either we camp or pick a hotel where you can have dogs. Hopefully the puppies will be sold by then. We have 3 sold already. We had an ultrasound done at 28 days and we have 4 heart beats for use and the vet thinks there is 8 or 9 on there. She is due Wednesday but has all the signs for labor now.

momma...I know better than to ask my husband about the massage, LOL  .I'm going to get a foot massage and pedicure to comfort my tired feet half way thru the cruise. Not sure about the wine, we prefer gin & tonic and besides I don't want to have to carry on anymore than I have to.

giggles...the best of luck with your mom and puppies :grouphug: GINA

I'm with you on this one -- it's embarrassing how many books I have bought! It just prolongs the fun of the trip to get so involved in the planning, though.
