07/22/2006 - The Oh-Seven Double-Deuce Double Dip Desperados!

i feel like it's too hard to plan for this since it's totally different from anything they've done thus far. i'm not sure if they are really considering it something like the western cruise or not?? :confused3

i made my sign for pirate night though.

I've also been called Cruise director Julie (Julie's my real name). When I went Argentina with my husband's MBA class, it was my nickname. They also called me mom because if someone needed something I had it. I confess when it comes to traveling I like lists and I like to know what's going on. i have also been scanning Western navigators. DH also thinks i'm OCD yet never complains when we eat in his favorite restaurant at the beach because I call 2 months ahead for ressies.
Beth, I'm also a Jersey girl. I was raised up North outside NYC in Bergen County. My parents recently bought TS in Abescon at the Marriott I think.

I read over the list of people going. Are there 5 sets of twins in our group. Mine DS & DD (4) are twins and No their not identical (you'd be surprised how many people ask. Maybe the rest aren't twins, but when you see two names, same age it usually is. I do know some people who've had two children in one year or had one and adopted one but twins is the more likely case. Anyway with 5 sets we could almost have a DIS multiples meet (just kidding). glad to see some kids closer to mine in age. At first it seemed like eveyone was 10 or 12. Mine enjoy playing together but love making friends. I know the club will go better if they know "some friends" will be there.

Hi Bethipooh4 & Daffydee! You're both mentioning familiar places to me. We lived in South Jersey when my DH was in graduate school at Penn. We lived in Lindenwold - on the White Horse Pike (Rt30) and I taught school in Blackwood, on the Blackhorse Pike. I went to graduate school at West Chester State. So I'm familiar with Philly & surrounding area. Now we're up north for the past 20 years.
Yes, we're headed to WDW next month (5 days) - my DD's Senior class trip - DH & I are tagging along - we don't even have to chaperone! There's 85 students (about 1/3 of the class) & 20 adults. We're flying - sorry Bethipooh! I'll be sure to wave to you as we go by! :wave2: We're on 2 flights going down - on one coming home. We just got word we're staying at the All Star Movies - we were supposed to be at the Music - doesn't matter to us! We like both places. Wed night we have the mandatory meeting with the VP who will be laying down the law to all the kids. :teeth:
Fun!

Paid it off today :cool1: :thumbsup2 :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :woohoo:

Now it's just wait and read, read, read, get all the hints and great tips. Oh yea, still have to get air, but that will come. I'm actually waiting to fly to Chicago to bring DS home from college and get another free flight with SWA. Should have 3 by then, that means we'll only have to purchase one! :bounce:

Anyone out there always on the lookout for things to take with you when you go shopping? EVERYTIME I head out to the stores, especially places like Wal-Mart, I always seem to pick something up. That pile gets a little larger each time. :rotfl:

we're paid off too and already have excusions, Palo, and spa booked as of 3am today yahoo! :yay: Now if I can only get through this last stupid grad course... :badpc: I don't know about the rest of you guys, but July can't come soon enough!

Wow, congrats to all of you who got to make them today...hope you left some for the rest of us..lol

That must mean in 15 days I can BOOK MINE!!! WOO HOO

Guess we had better decide what we want to do. :teeth:

Don't worry, we didn't take too many lol! My daughter is the only one doing spa treatments (spoilt kid!) We mainly booked the REAS package just so we could book early (We are soo looking forward to missing the ressie scramble upon boarding we experienced in the past). here's hoping for lots of reservation pixie dust for our fellow travelers in the upcoming days !

We did the Palo brunch and also a dinner one night. Reserved the Costa Maya Dolphin Encounter for DW and DD (DS too young so it will be just us boys that day). Got DW a facial one day and a pedicure on another.

HeelMD,

My twins are four and i'm trying to figure out our excursions. Are you doing one in cozumel with DS? We are thinking of xcaret. Any thoughts?

My wife and daughter are doing the dolphin at Costa Maya because there are some concerns that the dolphin encounter at Cozumel could be a problem due to repairs from storm damage. Not sure what me and DS will do there. We are all considering hanging out on the boat for Cozumel. We were there in 2004 and not our favorite port of call. If we do something, we may consider the glass-bottom boat or day on the beach.

I just paid off our balance with Dreams yesterday and am now waiting for the 90-day window to open to make ressies. :cool1: :thumbsup2 :cool1:

We've sailed on the Wonder many times but this is our first 7-day on the Magic. Whay do you guys think will be the best night to do Palo for dinner and not miss too much else? How about the brunch...that is only done on sea says right?

All advice appreciated. It will be me, DW, and 2 DDs (12 & 15). (I know DD cannot enjoy Palo...just for us adults! )

We have 2 Cat 12 GTY and hoping that being CC and early pay off will snag us an upgrade. Upgrade Fairy...where are you? :wizard: :woohoo:

TTFN, Steve

We are planning on going Thursday which we hope will the lobster night. Last cruise we found out by accident that not only do they serve lobster there too, but it was larger, better quality than regular dining room. This doesn't matter to me as I don't eat any type of seafood, but DH loves it!

I just wanted to comment that we have been to both cozumel and xcaret. If Chankanaab Park is back in order I think that is your best and most economical bet and there is a dolphin encounter there (if it is back up and running) there is a small beach which is great for kids, it gradually slopes and they can actually do a little beginning snorkel there (water no deeper than 2 feet) and lots of fish. You see iguanas, birds etc. Very small cab fare from pier, we went last year from the magic and will go back this year if back in shape. The entrance fee is $12 I think and a bargain. I felt very safe there. A word about xcaret. It is a BEAUTIFUL place. Much to do, animals, shows, beach, etc. BUT DO NOT SWIM IN THE UNDERGROUND RIVER!! My husband cut himself on a rock in the underground river and contracted a horrible deadly case of staff. They actually thought he had smallpox! We were staying in Cancun and barely made it home to the hospital. By the time we got to Dallas his fever was 104. Very scary! I think the problem there if you notice is the zoo animal feces probably feeds into the underground river system. I hate to be debbie downer but I would not let my daughter anywhere near!!!! If you need anymore info, just ask. This is 3rd magical cruise!

I have signed up to receive updates on Cozumel and just received one today. Chankanaab Park did not open this month as planned. They hope to have it open sometime in May but there seems to be some doubt about that. Also, this site said the the Dolphin Encounter that they have in the park won't resume until July. With the way things are shaping up I kind of wish we were going somewhere else. We had such an enjoyable time the last visit to Cozumel and it doesn't sound as if that will be the case this time. I dont think I'll be able to type this but the site I got my info from was wilmacozumel dot com.

Thanks for all the info and advice. I guess I will continue to monitor cozumel's progress. Hopefullywe will get some good reports from people who stopped at cozumel with DCL this week. Does Chankanaab Park have a website? I found some info when I googled it but it was from tour groups or only in spanish. I had been thinking we might go there instead.

Come on everyone, dance with me now... 99 days

we are in DOUBLE DIGITS!!!!!!! :cool1: :cheer2:

The double digit dance Woot! :yay:  :cheer2:

99 days to go, 99 days to go...

yippee :cool1: time to dance! Just wanted to say HI to all our fellow cruisers. My daughter is getting tired of hearing mom say, " I want to go see pretty blue water" every time we see a commercial for anything even remotely related to the carribean lol!

Cha-Ching! Paid off the cruise today....87 more hours until we can start booking reservations (for us CC members)! :cool1:

I guess I ought to figure out what my group wants to do...Anyone else going to the Chaccohoben Ruins while docked in Costa Maya?
