07/22/2006 - The Oh-Seven Double-Deuce Double Dip Desperados!

DBinMV,

Your jokes have a way of catching on. A sign would do the trick.

Savagefam,

I felt the same way this weekend in Atlanta. 5 minutes in the door and I was checking the boards. My DD & DS like to add pictures too. The Radisson by the port is where we are staying. OP stay at Ron Jon resort (not sure how it works to book) and the new residence inn. If you stay a few days and want some extra room maybe the RInn. Try doing a search for hotels near the port.
good luck :)

Any special requests for the bag from TX? I'd love to put in my favorite TX thing - - Blue Bell ice cream, but for obvious, melted, messy reasons, that wouldn't be a plan! Since I haven't done the 'state bag' before, what is the average/suggested $$ spent?

Has anyone done the galley tour, wine tastings, etc. on board? We never have and are considering it this time - is it worth taking time for?

It's really almost here! :Pinkbounc

Beth,
Don't forget to go to Grills website and get their 10% discount coupon. We will be staying at the Residence Inn. Stayed last time at the Radisson and liked it but thought we would try something different.

DBinMV,

Thank you for the hotel info. Also, I'm sure DH would be happy to have someone to talk "shop talk" with. Can't wait to meet your family. Sounds like we all have some things in common. It always amazes me what a small world it really is. :goodvibes

We have done both..the galley tour is amazing to see how they get everything ready, and the wine tasting, well...I staggered out of it :rotfl2:. It was very good though, and DH and I both enjoyed it.

Thanks Dee, already printed out and in my travel folder.

Should I bring a cardboard sign that says "Looking for Desperados" ?

Better be careful, you never know who might want to tag along... pirate:

Asking this question is, I think, like asking how much do you spend onboard - it ranges from a few dollars to too many.....
some people may have found great bargains (I found a few today, yeah!) and some people may not use "regulation" sized lunch bags...
Don't sweat it and enjoy the treasure hunt

I discovered today I have to upsize my "regulation" DIS green gift bag/lunch bag...UH OH....does this mean I am in trouble with the bag lady?? :goodvibes

Yes, I will have a ruler in my day bag so that we can check to make sure all bags are compliant....
huh

One thing we don't need are any rules...they're aren't any!!!!

Whatever you want do do for contents or size is PERFECTLY Perfect (Martha's motto) (side note: large gift bags or paper grocery bags may be a bit over the top...but certainly may be exchanged - mine is traditionally sized)

It is all good (my motto)
See y'all soon
Barb

I think I will try my best to comply....I will make it all fit in my bag... :rotfl:

cmelton - All the best things we do are food - Blue Bell, Tex-Mex, Bar-b-Q, Shiner Bock...so, what to put in the bags?????

All- we are at the Hilton-CB the night before. But you will recognize us in the terminal by the tie-dye mouse ears shirts I made last year when we went to MNSSHP. I am not falling for the whole "Wear a green shirt if you are a Dis-boarder" thing. You do not know how many dirty looks you get when you walk up to a group of people and ask them if they "Dis"....and they don't...it can get pretty ugly!

Goofydisney,

My family all has green shirts (not because I Dis). Once in a while we all end up in them on the same day. I was going to try to accidentally have them on the day we board, but was afraid DH would figure it out and get mad. If we see some Mickey TyeDye we will ask if they are a "Desperado".

BTW, DD & DS tyedyed for the 1st time at camp a couple of weeks ago. They didn't know what it was so I found some examples on the internet. Well, for the last 2 weeks everytime they see someone in tyedye, one of them shouts, "look there's tyedye". So you will know us if you see 2 small kids pointing and shouting at you in the terminal. :rotfl2:

:tilt: :lmao: :hmghost: LOLOL That is funny! We will look out for you!

Honestly, we love the Dis Green thing! We have green ribbons on all of our stuff, etc. But my DH will not let me approach anymore groups of people wearing green. You would be surprised how many civilians dress in lime green as a group. They act like they never even heard of the Dis. (DH assures me that the rest of the world may not be as advanced as we are and I should take the wierd looks in stride, even pity those unsuspecting park guests) :thumbsup2 :rolleyes2 :disrocks: :hmghost: :tink: :shamrock: :bounce: :lmao: GO DIS GREEN!!!

I never approach anyone with green either because I tagged our luggage with green ribbons before I found the disboard, just because the color was easy to spot. I saw a group with alien green paint chips at Disneyland earlier this year, but I was too chicken to go talk to them.

Ok, I am totally embarrased to even be asking this question.   but here goes..... What is exactly a Dis'er? Is it just someone who chats on this board? And what and when did the "green thing" come around. Are we suppose to wear green? I know it's a little late to be asking these questions....but figured better late than never. :thumbsup2

I don't know about the history of the green, but I having been wearing it a lot when traveling, so maybe its instinctual when you love Disney this much. I can sneak it in to the overnight suitcase for the DS but no way would I get all three of us in the same color. One of them would catch on and claim "we're too matching". I guess I will never have one of those family photos with the matching shirts :grouphug:

Can't wait! Had fun shopping today, had a "brilliant" idea for the state bag! Hopefully the receiving family will think so too.

Savagefam - From Southern California, you cannot go wrong with anything Disneyland!

And from Texas, maybe a bottle of hot sauce would hold up better than the ice cream :sunny:

This board is making the trip seem even more fun, and more real!

I had green mickey heads on all my stuff last year, but didn't wear green....I saw lots of people at the port in green but was afraid to approach them..DH did approach one family at the Radisson, and sure enough they were part of our cruise meet.

I got away with the matching shirts last year, all Disney of course. This year our group of 12 has matching blue shirts for the first day, and matching shirts for pirate night. We basically didn't give the kids or guys a choice.

Our little group of three will be wearing our matching darker blue Mickey Tropical "cruise outfits"- Disney store a couple years back. It has kinda become "tradition" , my daughter and I have the dresses and DH has the Hawaiin-type(SP) shirt(and no he didn't get a choice either- tee-hee!). We are taking Disney transportation from POFQ so can't get together with anyone the night before  and won't get to port all that early :hourglass ,but at least we won't need to worry about finding our way or driving in traffic. Looking forward to meeting you all. :grouphug:

Ok,
I finally had a breakthrough in my bag today. I know what I want to put in, but haven't had luck finding stuff or when I find it it is way overpriced. Even the gas station we stopped at in nowhereville on the way to Atlanta didn't have stuff. My part of Nashville seems to have no souvenirs. I went down every aisle in Walgreens and found a little section that had some things.

I think if you see someone with HD Mickey chips on their bags there's a very good chance they Dis. I would definitely ask. (Although we tend to talk to people anyway. If people don't like it, then you gave them something to talk about, if they do you might make a new friend) :sunny:

We'll be in our traditional matching tropical Disney outfits as well, even though we're coming from Universal Studios on Saturday. :rotfl: Mom2missmous, are you wearing the medium blue pattern with the beach scenes or the navy with the tiki pattern? We might end up matching you. We bought the new red tropical pattern at the Disney Store for this year but the sizes are HUGE and we may need to go back to one of our old sets so my DD and I don't drown in our shirts. :(

See you on the POFQ bus. Just look for the other sleep-deprived couple.
