06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

Hi All,

Well I booked the first week of May on a last minute deal and will be there with you on the 24th. I am new to cruising and I am trying to take in as much info as I can. I was just wondering if I can hang out with you guys on the deck party and soak in as much info as possible. My DS is 5 and my DD will be turning 7 on the last day of the cruise. SSSHHHH....I haven't told them we are going yet!! :rolleyes1 My kids love WDW and have been asking when we are going the cruise....surprise...surprise!! I even went to the disneyshopping site and ordered a Pirates of the Caribbean Hat! My DW and I are very excited and it is hard not talking about it in front of the kids! Anyway, we would love to join all of you on the deck party and start the trip with new friends!

Welcome cykojoe and crew!!! Yes, yes, come and join us!!!!! The more the merrier!!!

Vija-I wish we could but we've got a 1pm flight.

I've got to get to the 1st page and update!!

Welcome cykojoe!!!! :cheer2:

I have a DS5 and DD8. What state do you live in?

Experienced cruisers I have one question regarding purchasing bottled water on the cruise. What are different kind of deals you can get?

I looked on the current navigators and it listed Evian as the brand.

6 for $9
24 for $35

We need a place to stay the night before the cruise and not sure if we should stay at Disney or near the Port. Any advise and information on both would help in our decision. :confused3 Thanks

Hi Minnie7701,

Wow, that is great your kids are the same age as mine. I live in Houston, TX ...now I am wondering who else from Houston will be on this cruise? We would love to meet you and your family on the cruise. Just look for the big Hispanic guy with the Pirates of the Caribbean hat! :)

:welcome: cykojoe :disrocks:

I have spent hours reading this board planning for our trip. There is sooo much to learn here.

Vija - I'd love to stay for the launch. I don't remember what time our flight leaves though. I'll have to check w/ DH.

Hey Tinky-we're staying at ASMO. It's free transportation from airport to resort (ask about the magical express). For us, it's about the same price transportation from air-port-air as from resort-port-air.

Come join us, we're having an early dismeet on Fri in the afternoon.

We're coming in on Thur. and doing a hopper on Fri. in the parks. :teeth:

goofy and max and cykojoe-and anyone else who doesn't have plans yet for Costa Maya, a bunch of us are headed to Maj. Beach which is a few min. ride from the port for a dis meet party on the beach. :disrocks: party:

Thanks Lori- We wil be at our timeshare on the 16th-23rd. The ASMO is what we might do. We planed on Beaches and Cream for Fri. at 4:00 if thats still the plan.

Lori - looks like ASMO is out, no value resorts available for the 23rd. :sad2:
Any other suggestions? :confused3

Welcome cykojoe!!!! :wave2: Between this thread and the main board, you will learn everything you need to know. There is a thread on the main board about how people surprised their kids with the cruise, check it out and maybe you will find a cute idea!

Tinky624, there are a few threads on the main board about where to stay the night before the cruise. I believe some people are staying at the Radisson.

Our Magical Express package for our DVC pre-stay before the cruise arrived today!

I researched the DVC threads last night and decided to use gardengrocers.com to order our groceries for our stay at SSR. :stir:

DS and DH went and got measured for their formal wear (we have never done tuxes before and I talked them into trying it!) :woohoo:

I am slowly plugging through my to-do list! :yay:

Before I forget to ask...I have never been to Beaches and Cream. Where is it and how do you get to it from the parks?

Marie

Beaches and Cream is at the Beach Club Hotel. It is part of the hotel, but can only be accessed from outside by the pool. You would have to take a Disney bus to get there or you can walk from the back entrance to Epcot, or the MGM ferry.

We used garden grocer and were very pleased.

I will be staying at the Radisson....with 2 breakfast buffets and a shuttle to and from the terminal included in the price, I couldn't pass it up. Plus their swimming pool looks awesome...I am planning on getting there in the afternoon on Friday and relax the rest of the day by the pool!

Wow, we are getting close :woohoo: . I am going to start pulling clothes out this weekend. I need to see how many cotton dresses my DD's have for the dinners. They are easy to wear and pack and you only need white sandals. I have been working on our door signs as well. I got some ideas from other discussions on Magnetic Door signs. I have designed about 4 so far. I am also working on the pillowcases we are taking. I have never done the pillowcases before so this will be a first. I bought my DD's water shoes yesterday, reading about the rocks on some of the beaches made me want to pick some up. I already have a pair but my DD's seem to grow out of them the day after I buy them :rotfl: . I also bought new highlighters for the navigators. It is slowly coming together.

cykojoe - there is a few of us meeting at the pool on Friday before the cruise at the Radisson. You are more than welcome to stop by. I think we are meeting around 2. We stayed at this hotel last time and loved it. It is a great way to start off the vacation and you can see the cruise ships from the hotel.

Susan

cykojoe - My DD's are 8 and 12. They have been emailing a few of the other kids going on the cruise. If you have kids who would like to meet before the cruise let me know and we can swap email addresses.

Susan

With those water prices. I might just have to pack some water...That is lots$$$ for water!!

Cykojoe-Hopefully we will meet up at Dismeet on Saturday! We are also Hispanic. My husband and I are from El Salvador!!!! Where are you all from?

Bummer...I had planned to call about staying there today. I'm going to try for Beach or Yacht Club then. I've always wanted to stay there....and since it is only one night... :teeth:

Hi everyone - we're staying at WDW Swan the night before - it's right next to BCV & BWV & they also have a nice pool area. It's a Starwood Hotel in case anyone has Amex points to use! We're then using Tiffany to go to the port.
