06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

Hi! My friend who will be staying in the cabin next to us has a DS (10, almost 11 by cruise time) who would like to email another boy his age so he will know someone on the ship. This is their 1st cruise and he is excited. PM me if someone has a DS who would like to email him!

I am thinking about doing this 30$ snorkle beach tour through them.
I'll be solo since DH and son are doing the jungle jeep tour.

Has anyone else taken a look at this ?
the website is Mayahualtours.com

musicgirl - I am sorry you had such a bad experience with DCL. It is hard to believe they would be so unsympathetic to your problems. Disney has always appeared to have great customer service people. I hope you are able to work something out.

It is finally getting warmer here in the east :sunny: and I am getting excited about the cruise. I know there was some talk about doing a meet :grouphug: on the boat during the sailaway party. Are there still plans to do this and if so where and when? It would really be great to put some faces with this names/messages.

Susan

Susan-We are going to meet on deck 10 on the port side at the sail away party. It is right above the deck party. I think once we meet, I think some of the boys are going to head over for some basketball. I know at least that's where mine wants to head to. We usually sail at 5. So perhaps at 4:30 and then people can head to where ever they want or stay and party with the disers!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Lorie,

4:30 Deck 10 -- Sounds like the place to be on 6/24!

I have a question for everyone -- since I haven't done a 7 day cruise, I'd like some feedback. I see lots of posts about coolers on wheels for bottled water. Others mention beer and wine. I'm looking forward to tropical drinks/cold beer on deck from the bar! But, I wanted to ask about the water and wine.

Do you really carry the bottled water with you on excursions?

What about wine? I enjoy wine with dinner. But, I am traveling with my DS and DM. My mom will not drink the same wines that I enjoy. So, do I take my own wine onboard -- and pay the "cork" fee in the restaurant? Just buy by the glass when I would like a glass with dinner? Just wondering what others have done in the past???

B.B.

oops, I meant to say for the cruise. I'm not sure if we want our kids all over DW before the cruise, I kind of wanted to keep it as family time.

Water and wine:
Last year on board you could have a case of water sent to your room, and I can't remeber the price , but I know we bought 2 cases during the cruise and it was easier than bring it with us. We also brought wine to dinner twice, since I am picky about my wine also, but they do hav some nice selections, if you don't finish the bottle, they save it for the next night!
I would bring a corkscrew if you wanta glass of wine in your room.
As for coolers, we did bring a small cooler on wheels for the beach in Mexico, and it was well used! and then carried the wet towels in it on the way back!

sailaway: we might have to meet later than 4:30, since I believe that's when the lifeboat drill is

Wendy :)

We like to take water for the excursions because it can be very expensive to buy. Also, we take it to use as a rinse for our eyes since the salt water burns your eyes.

You can also have water delivered to the ship-Shirley delivered a case of beer with our baskets.

Friends of ours brought wine and a corkscrew and just took their own glass into dinner every night. I think they bought a sailaway drink and just reused the glass all week. I think the $15 fee is a little much.

I'd take water on your excursion if you don't mind lugging it.

Are there other meets planned besides the sail away?

Wendy, I think the safety drill is at 4 and the party starts at 4:30.

BethA- We are going to try a meet at lunch at CC also. Then one before we leave for Maj and at Maj. Beach.

I think some people got an 11 or near there ressie at Palo. I'm still trying!!! I won't give up!!!

I'm not sure if we want to plan any others or not. I would hate to set up a bunch and then have only a few disers show up at a time. I think if we can get a good one at the sail away party, we can bond and go from there.

Yes, I did just use the word bond. :grouphug:

Anyone else have any ideas? If you want to meet with me, just hang out at the adult pool. This is my favorite place to "chill"

Yes, I did just use the word chill.

Sorry, I'm really ready for spring break and I am bit "punchy" and I can not spell or use proper grammar at this time. I've re-typed just about every word so far.

Is anyone else going to do the rainforest? I liked it, but I always felt like I "had to go" to get my moneys worth. And now that it is $75, hmmmmmm.

Ok...Need some help.
I just spoke to someone at "DolphinDiscovery" they told me they are unable to confirm any dolphin swim adventure because their park is still close. It is not due to open till 6/30????????
I wonder if all the other "tour" places use this one park for the dolphin experience? Does any one know???
My kids are really excited about swimming with the Dolphins: :confused3

Do you know where they have the excursion? I had heard that the dolphin swim at Chank. Park would not be open until June sometime, but it was opening up parts of the Park starting in Feb.

They do sell cases of water on the 1st day thet they deliver to the room. I am on a diet and have to drink 8 cups of water a day, and last year we just boght a case on the ship. I think it was like $18 but will not swear to that price. Also, we had baskets delivered from Shirley for the boys and she put it in a Sand bucket with things to use at CC. She included their favorite drinks and snacks. Kept me from having to buy any snacks on the cruise and since my youngest is addicted to rootbeer, she supplied him with rootbeer that lasted the 4 days.

As far as excursions, I tried to book the Sea Explorer in Coz for my Mom and Dad at 3:05Am on Sunday and it did not appear. I contacted Disney and they acted as if it was full. I asked if it was still scheduled and they did not give me an answer other than it may have booked up quick. I wonder if it is not reopened from the hurricane.

My DW says there is 10 schol days until spring break. :cool1: We are heading to Washington, DC for a few days.

Minnie7701, I am glad you heard from Dolphin Discovery. I had emailed them but had not heard back. They were the only dolphin program I knew of in Coz. There is a new one in Costa Maya and DCL does offer it as an excursion. From what I read on cruise critic it seems as if the dolphins swim among you and you get to touch them and they do tricks. Many first timers enjoyed it, but there is no dolphin pull. We have been to Discovery Cove so I had opted not to do Costa Maya. We really had our hearts set on the Royal Dolphin swim and Sea Lion Swim in COz. Oh well, guess we will just have cruise again! Guess that means we will be doing mini golf on Coz.

bairdbeth-
We will be doing the mini golf in Coz too! Depending on how things work out, we may also try Mr. Sanchos beach-- but we are definitely looking forward to the mini golf!

BethA and Jeff-
You both mention deliveries by Shirley -- perhaps, I should know, but who is Shirley?

Thanks.

B.B. (another Beth)

Shirley has a business-the perfect gift-that delivers custom made baskets--though not always a "basket" to your cabin. someone here should have her website. She is a wonderful woman!!! We have used her several times and been very pleased.

Shirley is a wonderful lady who owns the perfect gift. I ordered a Princess basket from her for DD on our first cruise. It had snacks and juice bags plus toys for her and caffeine free diet coke for me. She will put whatever you want in your basket. I can't speak highly enough of her. Can we walk to mini golf in Coz? How far is it? Tell me about Mr. Sanchos beach. :confused3

Thanks for the info on cancelling excursions. I have one I am debating about and I thought I could cancell if I needed it on the ship. UGHHH, Oh well, I guess I'll just have to make the decision and cancel it. THat would probably make others happy! No, it isn't Palo, otherwise I'd give it to musicgirl if I could!!!

We will be at the sail away party and meet everyone up on deck 10. I think once it gets closer to 5 we might go down to deck 9. It will depend on the kids. But if we do... you are under strict orders not to laugh at me trying to do the electric slide... :lmao: :rotfl2: It won't be a pretty sight!

Guess what DH did? He put the ships horn on the computer so everytime I log on and access different programs I hear it! AWESOME!!!
