06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

The live cruise for the Turkey has really taken off. They started it 2 days early!!!

They said they had 98 disers that would be wearing lime green shirts!!! I hope our thread starts moving a bit!!! Ok, let's say we do green shirts, shorts and hats!!!! That way NO ONE will miss us!!!

I know Dan and Jill are still going. I guess we can tell who the compulsive planners are!!!! Of course, I'm not referring to myself at all!!!! Because I still have yet to get my Palo brunch ressie. And then I'm done!!!

I don't know if many of you follow all the tips, but I have finally been able to fill one. I found FLAT duct tape!!! Oh yeah!!! Ok, so it's been a slow day. Well now I'm done packing! Whew!!! The cruise is getting close and I was soooooo worried!!!

Where or where have the disers gone? Oh where or where can they be?

I hope I haven't scared anyone away  I know I may sound crazy, but I'm not. Really I'm not!!! I just love to cruise on DCL!!!

Ok, Lorie, I know my compulsive planning is not in your league. What the heck is flat duct tape and what do you plan to use it for? I have seen on other threads that people use it to hold the closet doors and such.

Did you have a certain day you were thinking about for brunch? Looking at the pictures of the brunch on the board is making us really looking forward to trying it! I know the idea of a DIS brunch was batted around, but wasn't sure if there was a consensus.

If I don't make it back to the boards by Thursday, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Dan.

Of course I'm lurking around!!!

Flat duct tape-instead of being in a bulky cardboard circle, it is rolled the same way but without the cardboard and flat. Actually, I have not used it myself on board, but on trips it has come in handy for fixing a broken sandal. Sometimes the closet doors in the rooms don't stay closed if it is a very rocky ride. My sister used it to fix a broken part of a suitcase.

Brunch at Palo, I think we might be trying for the first day at sea because we don't want to be so full from all the over eating that we plan on doing!!! I know as CC members, we can book a bit earlier so I wouldn't mind booking a table for 4 or whatever the maximum is for a ressie. If we get more people who want to do this we can always pick a time, post it and see what happens. The restaurant is not that big so even if we can not be at the same table we would be close. They may even be able to put us in the same area if we let them know how many have ressies.

Have a Happy turkey day!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my new cruiser buddies!!! :grouphug:

Well, a very busy week is over. The turkey is gone. We won our semi-finals for the football tournament, so next Friday we play for the State championship. A 15 game season. Friday was sooooo cold. So I need to think.....

CC, douple dipping CC!!!

It's time for Christmas decorations. I have a difficult time putting all my DCL pictures and albums away, even though it is only for a few weeks. When Christmas is over, I'll have to go through all the albums and dream a little because soon, very soon it will be 2006!!!!!!

Dan will you be announcing anything to your kids on Christmas morning??????? Someone has a picture in which they all look like they have opened presents containing DCL t-shirts. I thought that was a good way to tell a group.

Lorie:

No, we weren't planning on telling them at Christmas. We thought we would wait until after our February Disney trip to tell them. We figured it would help ease the pain of coming back to reality!

Congratulations on the state championship! We never had to worry about that at St. Charles! The only championships we contended for was in soccer.

Talk to ya later!
Dan.

AHHHHH!!!! It was really, really cold at the game today and we lost the state championship to add insult to injury!!!!

Oh well, check off "football season" from the list to get to the cruise!!!!

Well, we are down to 200 days. (I know that still is a long way, but better than 600!)

Unfortunately, we are having second thoughts on the cruise. We have been going over our budget and this is really stretching us. The only good thing is that we haven't told the kids so it will only be us who are disappointed if we don't go.

I'll keep number crunching to try to figure it out.

Dan.

Oh noooooooo Dan! I feel like I know you already! This is sad news, but I certainly understand. I sure hope you can work it out. Please let us know, ok? Good luck!

I second Jill-Oh nooooooo!!!!!!!! Keep working those numbers Dan!!!!

I am sending pixie dust your way because as I have done at every 100 days, I must dance!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I really do hope it all works out for you. Every once in a while I look at the total that we will be spending and think to myself....WHAT ARE YOU NUTS? :earseek: and then I remember, well yes I am :teeth: .

I know that I am very close to paying off the balance. It will be in 110 days so that I can get ressies at 90 days out. I have also been brave with my Disney rewards card and putting just about everything on it. I figure it would just be coming out of the checking one transaction at a time, I'll just pay with one large sum and earn points!! I am hoping to have about $500 disney $$ to spend on board. That will cover the drinks!!! No just kidding!!! I'm actually going to use it for excursion and SHOPPING!!!!

Good Luck Dan!!!

Well, you will tell by the lack of the countdown timer that we have decided to forego the cruise. I know it would have been awesome, but the budget couldn't handle it. I know it was the right decision because I feel much less stressed now about the $, but it is very sad nonetheless.

I hope everyone has a great holiday and I will still check in to say "HI!".

Dan.

Dan, thanks for checking in. That is sad news, but I completely understand when it comes to finances. Have an awesome Christmas and happy new year! Keep in touch! :)

Dan, sorry to hear the news. You got to do what you have to do. I hope you have a great vacation coming up and happy holidays!!!

Thanks Jill, Thanks Lorie. I'll have to live vicariously through you guys, so take notes!

Where is everybody else???

Dan.

You know what will be really cool? Seeing the year 2006, finally we will be in the actual year of the cruise!!!! :cool1:

I have been starting to read trip reports again and I see that they are get some new things that sounds like fun! Or maybe they were there but I just didn't get around to it.

Margarita tasting-yum!!!! I know they had beer, wine and martini tasting.
Pictionary-Team up with ds and myself, we play on a regular basis!!!!

I'm going to be brave and try to figure out the count down timer since Dan's is gone.

Whew!!! You would have thought that was brain surgery trying to get a clock to work!!!! I think it took me about 2 hours to find one that would work!!

:sad1: I see that you no longer need me for my countdown timer...so sad. ;)

It looks like we are still going to head down to Orlando on June 23rd. I had already bought the Airtran tickets for the way down prior to cancelling, so I have to use 'em or lose 'em. Between the leftover days we will have on our current Disney tickets and the Universal deal on tickets right now, we will head down and do all the stuff we inevitably will miss in February. Not the same as the cruise, but we can't complain. Maybe we'll bump into some of you at the airport!

Dan.

Yes Dan, I bit the bullet and figured out a clock. That would be reall cool if we ran into you at some point and time!!! We fly in on 6-22 and out on 7-1. At least you'll still have your time at WDW and won't have to rush on the first trip. Maybe you could do something really cool like go to Discovery Cove.

Hi.....haven't been back to this thread since posting after we initially made our reservations, but I thought I'd check in again now that June 24, 2006 doesn't seem so far away anymore! I haven't read all 26 pages of postings, so I guess I've missed a lot!

I hope to link up with some of you who have kids or similar ages or who are experienced cruisers who can provide recos on excursions, etc. DH and I will be accompanied by DS--will have just turned 13; DD-will have just turned 9, and DS-6. This is our first cruise, so we a lot to learn!

I've just started checking into some excursions to figure out which might be best for us.....due to the age range of our kids, I think we're going to need to opt for some of the less active choices. I figure we can do some active things on an ala carte basis somewhere.

Anyway, any advice or connections are welcomed!

Right now, I'm heading to the basement to work out.....I have a lot of weight I need to lose by June! :guilty:

Happy New Year!

It has been pretty quiet on this thread the last few months, so I'm hoping since we are getting closer it will pick up.

p. 24 has some good info at the top. Unfortunately, some on Coz may not be very accurate.

As for CM, from what I have read, Maj. Beach is one of the best bets. It is a $5 taxi ride roundtrip and only a few minutes away. From there you can arrange a snorkel tour for around $15-25 per person that leaves at the beach, waverunners, massages and pretty good food from what I've read.

So far, we are the ONLY ship scheduled at CM that day.

On Cozumel, there are 2 Carnival ships scheduled in port.
