06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

The clear kayak excursion sounds pretty cool. It may be to much work for us though!!!

Actually, we've done some kayaking and really liked it compared to canoeing. It might be a cool way to "snorkel" without the hassle!!!!

Well, I found the answer to my question on the cruise critics board. Evidently you can only use the clear kayaks through the cruise excursions.

But you can do the beach break on your own for $25 (adults) which includes quite a bit. It is $15 for under 18.

It is $5 roundtrip taxi and about 5 min. down the road.

I wish DCL's site had more info about what is included for sure. I guess we will have to wait until we receive our excursion booklet.

Ok, I have to share a "small world" story!!! If you read all of the posts or can even remember them, you might know that Dan grew up where I now live. We haven't met, but it should be fun in 231 days!!!

Well, I have an even better one. I just got an e-mail from a gal who said she saw that I lived in Columbus, and she lives very close. I told her a little about myself. Not that we are famous or anything, but since we work at a total of 5 schools in the area, we do have a lot of people who end up knowing us. I may not necessarily know them, but....

Anyway, she just e-mailed me back and we discovered I taught her kids music and her sister was the athletic director at our high school, whom our ds-15 bonded with (when he was 5 or 6) and she would drive him all over the school grounds in a golf cart!!

Talk about small worlds!!!!!

Jill, you were asking about dis meets earlier. Here's one for you.

There is a current thread that post some pictures. They had their meet in the Walt Disney Suite since one of the disers had it. Pretty cool!!!!!

Anyone out there in one of the suites????? Hint, hint, wink, wink, nudge nudge!!

Well, if you all would like to chip in for me to upgrade to a Cat. 1, I will gladly host a dis meet!!! :rotfl2:

Lorie, great small world story!!! Yes, I read that meet story, how awesome that would be. I'd love that! If only we could dream....

Wow it seems like there are some hot disers over the itinerary changes from Coz. They complained about CM, and now they are complaining about Nassau.

It does seem like those who did the Uvero Beach were very unhappy. That is the only thing I read in the trip reports other than the horseback riding. Which seemed like they had a good time.

I keep trying to mention Maj. Beach. I know they were kind of side-swiped with the change. I think you can also catch the horseback riding from this beach without scheduling the excursion.

Maybe we could have a dis meet at Maj. Beach and sit around and drink cheap beer and have great salsa and chips!!!!! :teeth:

I guess I would be a bit disappointed about Nassau, but I would look at it this way. A day at "sea" without any waves!!!!!! I wouldn't be spending any money on excursions or stuff. However, I could definitely find a way to spend it on board.

Whenever I start to feel a little "blue", I just pop in some of my favorite tunes like: It's 5 O'clock somewhere, When the sun goes down (Kenny C at his home in the Carib.), No shirts, no shoes, no problem (same place!)

Well, we are STILL in the football playoffs. We have a possible 3 more games to go. If we win this week, my Thanksgiving plans go out the window!!!!

Lorie, I love that idea about a Dis meet at this beach! Where are you all lately, haven't seen much activity on this thread? What do ya'll think? :earsboy:

The DIS meet at the beach in CM sounds like a great idea.

I've been going through the DCL picture of the day thread to prepare for the declining temps. and keep excited about the cruise that feels so far away.

Dan.

Awesome Dan! I'm so jealous you'll be at DW pretty soon, you are sooooo lucky.

Any other takers on this meet? A little margarita, or perhaps a very big one? :teeth:

I just love to look at old cruise pictures to keep up happy thoughts of the cruise!!! It doesn't take much though to put me in the mood.

We are only 222 days out!!!

If I REALLY need to be uplifted, Bill will whip up a batch of Konk Koolers.

Jill, do you think the margaritas will be better in Mexico? Then to make it even better, sipping a margarita on the beach with a beautiful blue sky...ahhhhh!

And if it isn't enough to have CMs taking your order on the beach, it's even better in the water!!!!

Cool pics, Lorie!

What is the gameshow-like set you are standing behind? And more importantly, what can you win?!

Dan.

Dan,

Bill and I went into Studio C before the sail a way party to take the pictures. We didn't actually get to participate in one of the games. It is the set for the family game Walk the Plank. I'm sure they do lots of other shows in there. I know they do the entertainment series (appetizers, fruit carving, and the best one....cocktail mixing!!!) in here.

I think you win a "gold" medal.

The best game to play and actually win something is Who wants to be a Mouseketeer. If you make it all the way, you win a cruise!!!

You can win free drinks at 80's night too!

Cool! Thanks for the info, Lorie. I am always a sucker for contests and chances to win stuff.

Did anyone see the thread about the May 20th cruise being rescheduled to Costa Maya instead of Cozumel? I was surprised that Disney wouldn't return to Cozumel until late May/early June.

Dan.

No, I didn't see the thread yet. Does that mean that all the Westerns up until then will go to CM instead of Coz?

Wow, I haven't seen that either yet Dan. That is a really long range to think Cozumel will still be that bad. I certainly hope not. I'm really looking forward to our excursion there.

Ok, here is a link to another thread that a poster shows information that is on the DCL website. Now it looks like only the cruises into January are affected. They do state that it is subject to change.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=960504

I should know by now to wait a little bit before forwarding information. It ends up changing by the time I get it.

I hope Cozumel recovers quickly as well. Not only for our enjoyment, but for the livelihoods of the residents.

Thanks,
Dan.
