06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

Wow! I can't believe we have only 11 days till we can make reservations! Hope we all get what we want.

As far as car service, we are renting a car. The first time we cruised we arrived the day before and rented a car for the trip to the Radisson. We used the Avis shuttle to get to the port. Everything went very smoothly. We were supposed to get picked up by car service for the trip back to the airport but they never showed up. Can't even remember the name of the service, but we will never do that again. Luckily we found a taxi to take us to the airport. The second time we took the redeye from Vegas and arrived the same day. We used a rental both ways, this time using the Avis shuttle both ways. Taking the redeye from Vegas and and ariving the same was too tiring so this time we are taking the redeye on the Thursday and staying at the Radisson. We're definately going to use a rental, but this time it might be Budget, depending on the price.

Bairdbeth - I see you are staying at the Radisson as well! Is anybody else staying there too?

Lori - Loved your photo album!

SPJammer - Thanks for your DD's email. I'll tell my DD when sh gets home from school. Loved your pictures too! Living in Las Vegas, I don't miss the snow!

Have great day everyone!

Glad you liked the pictures, took about 2 1/2 hours with a snowblower to clean it all up. That was fun. I'll tell my DD to keep her eyes open for your DD's email.

To everyone else who keeps talking about 11 days all I can say is phbbbbt. :rotfl: We have to wait 28 more days till we can book our excursions.

I am with you Bairdbeth. I live in Virginia and we have had 4 beautiful days. But already this morning the temperature is down again? :sad2:
It is crazy weather here, one day hot one day cold.

Hey Minnie,

I'm in Virginia too. Where are you?

B.B.

There seem to be the most people from Virginia going on this cruise! Disgal just posted on my thread about Costa Maya. She is going so I posted this link and I noticed that she is from Virginia too! She was interested in Maj. Beach, so I invited her to join "our" excursion.

SPJammer- great picyures of the snow. I do actually miss the snow, having grown up in Ohio. I wanted some here, but now it is Spring, so no thank you!

Carole88- yes, we are at the Radisson the night before and on the first shuttle in the morning. Have you reserved your shuttle spot yet? Maybe Taylor and Tessa can meet up at the pool on Friday afternoon or evening?

musicgirl- I didn't go up to people with lime green because I was afraid that were not Dis'ers and would think I was wierd! However, people came to me since I had the lime green mickey head paint chip which as far as I know only Dis'ers would know to do? I am fairly laid back and somewhat shy so I don't approach many strangers. Hopefully I will recognize my new Dis friends at the terminal!

Can't believe it is so close now!! We booked in Nov 2004!!!

We are myself, dh, ds...21, ds...17. We are traveling with another couple also with 2 sons, and their extended family, so we are a big group!!

I am heading down to WDW tues to the CR . DH has a conference, so I'll be doing a solo in the daytime trip....can't wait! I'll miss the announcement re the Magic in 2007, but if it is the Med, we just can't swing it. It is my ds graduation, and he gets to pick the trip. He has picked yellowstone, unless the Magic is going to Alaska or Hawaii.

We get back on mar 26, so I'll start booking our excursions the next am.

This is our 4th western, and oldest ds has his scuba cert. so he'll be doing alot of dives.

Maj . beach really looks nice, hopefully it won't be too crowded.
We will try to meet up with you all there. We are really early risers, and will be headed out asap off the ship. If ds doesn't get to dive at Coz, he'll be doing a dive there. The rest of us plan on just beaching it. We will book a Palancar reef dive in Coz thru dcl, even though it is more $, I feel more comfortable if canceling or getting back to the ship etc. Hopefully, we will get to Coz.

Any other divers in the group? Any other oldsters (17-21 )?

Thanks for inviting me over here, this is starting to get exciting now!!

Welcome :hippie:
Disgal glad to have u aboard...hehehe :rotfl2:

FantasiaMM- I live in Manassas, I am very close to Potomac Mills. :woohoo:
What part of VA are you in? What day are you coming up for the cruise? We are flying in the day off, but now I am starting to wonder if it a good  idea?

Buzz- my DD and DS sent an e-mail to yours? Hope they received it. Should be same yahoo account. I let them use my e-mail since their DF is very strick about them having an account :badpc: He is paranoid about Pervs on net specially with our DD.

11 days not fair I have to wait till 4/10... :confused3
OK a little confused please explain ( lime green mickey head paint chip????)

Good morning everybody!

Lime green Mickey head paint chips can be found at Home Depot in the paint department. They are color samples in the shape of Mickey's head. Lime green is the DIS color so many DISers get them from Home Depot and pin them on themselves to identify themselves to others as DISers.

Bairdbeth - I think it's a great idea for Taylor & Tessa to meet at the pool at the Radisson. We'll have to figure out the details when the time gets closer. I don't think that we are taking the Radisson shuttle. We have always taken the Avis shuttle after dropping off the car.

Does anyone know what it is time for??????

The 100th day dance!!!! :cool1:  :woohoo: :woohoo:

Welcome disgal, you tell the others going with you to visit the board!!

Beth, I actually have the Mickey paint sample in my car!!! I think that it probably a great idea. If you don't want to wear it on your clothing, maybe on a folder, luggage, lanyard. I have my lanyard from last time so I think that's what I'll do on the plastic part.

Oh nooooooo!!!!

I just read on the main board that home depot is not going to carry the paint/paint chips!!!

Hey Minnie,

I am east of Richmond -- in Hanover County. You are about 1 1/2 hours north. We are actually driving to port -- we will be staying in Cocoa Beach on Friday night. We thought we would be a little more relaxed if we got in the day before.

Sounds like I need to go to Home Depot and look for paint chips---

Lorie -- I'm dancing with you! 100 days and counting.

Disgal, welcome!!!! Our sons need to meet! His name is Pat, and he will be 18 for this cruise. :) We went on the Wonder last April, and he made a million friends and that was only in 4 days. He just loved that cruise and ended up getting together with his new friends when we went to DW afterward for 4 days. Anyway, we too will be at DW from Monday of that week! Are your sons going to be with you? It would be great if they could meet up. We're staying at the BWV. Where are you staying?

Just wanted to say "Hi" everyone. This will be our first 7 night cruise and we are so excited about it! It will be my husband and I and our DD 18 and DS 13. My DS says he's not interested in the teen club and that he just wants to do his "own thing". He is an awesome kid but a little on the shy side at first and I think he's just nervous at the thought of not knowing anyone. I'm really hoping that will all change once we're on board. I know he'll have alot more fun if he can make some new friends to hang out with. My DD (who will be 19 in Sept.) is just psyched to be able to hang out at the "adult" places that she hasn't been able to before. She jokes about having a shipboard romance :lovestruc Gotta go...look forward to meeting some DISers. :)

Susan, welcome aboard :thumbsup2 !

My son Pat will be 18 for this cruise, he just may "meet up" with your daughter  , jk. Has she done a Disney cruise before? He had so much fun meeting friends on the last one. But this will be different, as he too will be an "adult". But he still plans on doing some things in the teen group to meet other kids.

Have you seen our beach meet where we have tons of other 13 yr. old boys (I have a 13 and 14 yr. old) on Costa Maya? We're also going to try and meet up on Castaway Cay, so if you want to join, you sure are welcome. :) So glad you joined us!

Well, it is an even more important day today.........it is time to do the DOUBLE DIGIT DANCE!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Sing this to the tune of 99 bottles of beer (oops, I mean pop!!) on the wall. Sorry, once a music teacher, always a music teacher!!!

99 days till we go on the cruise, 99 days till we go, you sleep a night and get up just right, 98 days till we go on the cruise!!

HEY LADYnTRAMP,

Welcome aboard. It is our first 7 night too. My DS is also 13. Like your DS he is quiet until he gets to know people. He isn't interested in the teen club either. He will be glad if he can find someone to play basketball onboard. We do have a group planning to get together on the beach at CM -- seems like we have several 13 - 14 boys.

Musicgirl seems to be our elected meeting coordinator -- poor Lorie! It would be nice if we could atleast meet and greet before the beach on CM.

I'm singing with you Lorie -- 99 bottles of beer on the wall....99 days and we're cruising!

FantasiaMM-I don't mind!! My family keeps telling me I should become a travel agent! When my sister and her family cruised with us, they loved it because they didn't plan a thing.

I think we are going to try to meet at the sail away and perhaps another time before we get to CM. It would be a shame to do all this e-mailing and then not meet up with people.

As I'm typing this, DCL is on the travel channel. Ah!!! I can't wait to be home again.

Double digits???!!! HOORAY!!!! It has been a long wait from 625 days! Carole88, Taylor can't wait to meet Tessa and hopes we can plan a time for them to meet at the pool. Any others staying at the Radisson the night before? I am going to go to Home Depot this weekend and see if they have the paint chips. If so I will grab a bunch to distribute.

bairdbeth, I was thinking about doing the same thing. If I find any extras, I'd be glad to share as well.

Lorie,

I'm looking forward to the meet at the sail away party -- I think that is a GREAT idea! Thanks for your planning effort -- still deck 10, port side and lime green Mickey paint chips???
