06/11/05 7- Night West Coast Cruise

Hey Dawnee...I get off at 1:00 on Thursdays. Maybe I might pop in to see you! don't wait around for me though.....sometimes my boss is a jerk and I get out late. I have peeked in Club Libby, but don't really know what it's all about. Have a great trip and Tuesday should be a nice day to be at DL. Not so crowded.

Sierra's bags and mine are packed and ready to be loaded into the car so we can drive to Denver then fly to San Diego :flower: - meeting Lauren, Whitney & Taylor at Club Libby Lu on Thursday at 1:00 so at least the little girls will look great Saturday when we board the MAGIC! :cool1: See you all at 3:15 in the Promenade Lounge with kid's keychain, postcard, etc. trades  Have a great week - WE WILL!! :cheer2:

Does anyone know anything about motinon sickness? I know there is a patch you can wear. Has anyone done this? I'm just wondering if Dramamine or Mezzaline (sp?) does the same thing as the patch?

Thanks Jeff for the Day room idea. We are going to check into that. What does it run to rent a day room?

Dizneygirl

I heard that the patch gives you side effects like blurry eyes. We are going to use Bonine. My DH has used it in the past with no problems.

Is Bonine over the counter? I bought some Dramamine that is chewable in case the kids need it but the pharmacist said it might make you drowsy. Thanks!

Bonine I got at Savons over the counter and it's not suppose to make you as drowsy as dramamine and lasts 4x longer.(according to the box) It's raspberry chewable form.

Hey! We are the friends of Monstro from GA. This is our 6th DIS cruise. We have taken motion sickness tablets with us each trip, but have never had to use them. The boat is so big the movements are small. It will give you sea legs for a few days though.
The original Dramamine is good, but it can cause drowsiness. It is closely related to Benadryl. Meclizine is a better medication. It is less sedating. It is sold under the names Bonine, Antivert, and Dramamine Less Drowsy Formula. The thing to remember is that meclizine is a lot better at preventing motion sickness than it is at treating the symptoms. Usually you take one dose an hour before you start the activity. It can last for 12 to 24 hours. After that you just take it once a day. It is OTC. You should be able to get it in a chewable and a liquid. I have bought both at Wal-Mart.

:) It's good to have friends who know these things.

Dizneygirl,

I just PM'd you the day room info.

I told the Hotel that we we're on a cruise ship and only wanted the rooms for 6 hours. Then I kissed up to them about being there before and how much we loved the Hotel. :)

Here are some mazatlan pictures ...

RPHUGA gave the sage advice of a pharmacist. Right on.

The patch is to be avoided by everyone except those with severe motion sickness. Blurred vision is one complication, nausea and dry mouth are the other.

Bonine works great (meclazine) and rarely causes drowsiness in adults, bu the dry outh is almost always universal to the antihistamines. I agree with RPHUGA, the ship is so big you will hardly notice....but that being said, we always take them too.

RPHUGA and Shellback - I just sent you an email summary of our mazatlan excursion. Let me know if you have any questions.

Is everyone packed? We haven't started yet. So much happening.

The US Mens soccer team played Costa Rica in a World Cup qualifier last night here in SLC. We won 3-0. What a party! It was great.

Jeff

Thanks for the info. It all looks good. We are as packed as we are going to be. Maybe we should have waited a bit longer to start packing, she keeps on adding.

We're not packed here. It's the last week of school for me and there will be a new CO for Gabe's battalion. The change of command is 4:00 PM on Friday. Talk about everything happening the same week. We're going to TRY to make it to LA at a decent hour on Friday night. I'm taking Tuesday off to pack. Otherwise, I won't have time.

Hello all,

Interestd in the cabin tour? I propose we do it at 4:10 on Monday. The Navigator has the following activiteis listed for that time.

3:30 Family Animation with Don Ducky Williams.
4:00 Informal Basketball play for families.
4:30 Latin Dancing.

for those of you interested in catching Do Williams, I'd erecommend the 11:00 Presentation of behind the scenes.

Any thoughts on 4:10 Monday? I'll work up the meeting time and the path we'll take. My goal is to hold this to 30 minutes.

We just started packing. I do not think we will have enough room. We have tried to keep it small, but we are worried about the temps. We want to make sure we pack for all weather. Midnight pizza won't be as good if we are all cold.

I hear you. Midnight Pizza is critical to the success of this vacation. We are starting to pack now.

Any thoughts on the time for the cabin tour?

Ducky Williams might not be on our cruise. We'll have to see who the performers will be. I know that Taylor Mason and Freddy Fusion were on the Repositioning Cruise, but only Freddy was on the 5/28 cruise. It would be nice if all three were on our ship. Each had something special to offer on the Christmas cruise!

RPHUGA, We are not worried too much about the weather here. It gets much cooler in NorCal than in SoCal. A good thick sweatshirt and a spring jacket (windbreaker) will suffice - that's what we're packing. We've been watching the weather forecast and it seems like it shouldn't be too cold.

Looking forward to meeting you and your family.
John

DBIL, :dancer: I'm in but I'll be leaving at 4:30 for Latin Dancing, DW has talked me into it.
