Well, good....it's nice to know that I've at least got SOME personality!

Oh come on! It'll be fun to meet everyone after sharing and joking on this thread. I just noticed it's at 74 pages. Eek!

We will be getting ready to sail about now just 3 weeks from today. I'm excited but have a lot yet to do. I work right up until the day before we sail, so I'm trying not to stress about packing. Right now my kids are wearing their shorts and tees, so can't hang them to pack until week before the cruise. So much to do, so little time...

I ALMOST drew a map, but after 6 DCL cruises, I thought I had better know where I'm going. Or I'll just take Jared along. He knows every inch of the ship, including some CM areas.

I figured you'd know! I'm not so lucky. I can just see me walking up and down each floor, trying to find the cabins. DH says if you put me in a room and spin me around I couldn't find the way out! I have absolutely no sense of direction.

It's so much easier if you have a room that's all the way aft, or all the way forward. Once I had a room mid-ship and was completely turned around the whole entire time!!

I'm making cards and end of the year gifts for teachers I team with this year being I won't be with them next year. There's one gal who has everything and I couldn't figure out what to give her. She loves to shop and spends a lot of money on clothes and we all tease her about it. Here's what I came up with:

It's a foam crown that I had, about 6 inches wide by 5 inches height. The letters I made on my wishblade. The dot of the "i" is a rhinestone! We have a lot of places to hang things with magnets at work.

I'm not getting anything done for the cruise though...

Well, today I made DH pull the suitcases out of the attic. It's official. We are getting ready to go! Pulling out the suitcases and setting up my "staging ground" sure does make it seem real. I worked on my FE gifts last night and although my DH doesn't get it, I had a blast. I can't believe we are down to 20 days. I think some of us have been planning this thing since Feb. of LAST year! What are we going to do with our time AFTER the cruise?

Anyone out there a pin trader? I am debating whether to bring my traders or not. Our suitcases are getting pretty full

I am going to try and go to the Character Warehouse store at lunch tomorrow and get the cheapest pins they have, so I have some traders. I've seen pins as cheap as $3.50 and $4. Wish me luck!!

Jared's is the only one close in our group. His is 6-23 and he'll be 15. We're 7638. I've still been debating on doing a celebration onboard.

Yes. I resigned 15 years ago but have been subbing for last 10 years. For the last 5 years, if a good (short) long term sub comes up, I take that and get contract pay. (My work funds our "fun" things like vacations and finishing the basement and new furniture, etc.) This year I had a friend go out on maternity leave and I'm subbing for her. I've worked full time since Oct. OMG, I'm about dead. I'm so not used to that! I teach early childhood special ed., with 5 year olds. All of them will be going into the elementary buildings next year, so the last two months have been insanely long hours. It's been two months full of assessments, report writing, and transition meetings with the elementary staff. We have about 16 elementary schools in our district, so it's working with a lot of new teams! I spend as much time doing paper work as I spend in child contact time and if you're a teacher, you know you only get paid for your child contact time and a little prep time and that doesn't even cover lesson planning time. In our district that is 40 minutes of paid prep time. My weekends have been spend researching and getting ready for this trip. My house is a mess! I SO need a vacation.

I know what you mean about summer-itis. My 15 year old has that! Our weather in MN has been pretty icky this spring, way below average, so that's helped a bit to curb some of it for him. It's only going to be a high of 62 today and we should be having upper 70's or 80. Man, am I going to soak up the sun on the cruise!

Have a great week everyone. These boards have been great for me. The vacation planning was starting to feel like another job, but this is a great release, a place to come where everyone is excited about the trip. It's kept me jazzed for the trip. The FE gifts have been fun to get ready and I can't wait for the meet! Now, if only I finish all those the things on my trip to-do list now that my FE gifts and done and ready to deliver, I'd feel a lot more relaxed!

Stacey, I know you are staying at the DoubleTree. Do you (or anyone) know if they will shuttle us back from the ship to the hotel?

Can you believe it is actually cheaper for us to rent a car and leave it there for a week, then to take shuttle service and a one way rental back It works out kinda well though, at least we will have some options Saturday night for getting around....

Yes...the hotel has a shuttle to the ship for us.


For our August cruise, we're renting a van from AZ to the port. It was really tough to get a one-way rental, since we're getting off the ship in Florida. But the rental itself was cheaper than 5 of us flying to LA.

This is great! I am dying for the wishblade! Since the FE gifts are really my first big project (I do mainly simple projects just with the kids), I can't justify the expense! I use foam markers for letters. Amazingly, my sone is talking about making Christmas cards this year and I am thinking its a great idea...this has been so much fun! And to think the real excitment hasn't even begun!!
