06/08/08 Magic And Mickey To Mexico!!!

Hey Rebecca,

Sorry to hear that you have all been feeling so miserable! But, I am glad to hear that you are still coming in June. I got worried that you were not coming when I didn't see you on the forum. Glad to hear all is well, just really busy.

I'll think happy thoughts for the contract bids. I hope your hubby gets a really good and long one!

84 days & 17 hours to go!!!

:goodvibes Thank you so much we can really use the :flower3: positive thoughts and prayers right now... for a contract at least a six month one would even be good. We had several talks and finally decided to pay off the cruise with our credit card and just go... Probably not the most mature decission ;) but DH really feels we will be fine. I just gotta keep the faith. Have a great night all. Big :grouphug:

Wow, we've been sick here too. DS2 had an acute asthma attack after getting a cough, missed 4 days of school, nebulizing him 6 times a day while on 3 other meds! Then I was sick for 3 days after he got better. Last week was a crazy week.

Now, as far as the new dining rotation... Can I get a little help from you experienced cruisers? On the old schedule, I wasn't sure if we'd be PLAPLAP or not. Our kids will be 15 and 12 on this sailing. I assumed they'd put us on this rotation because our kids weren't little, but yet they weren't adults yet. Do you think that's the rotation we would have been assigned? If so, if I read that thread correctly and we were PLAPLAP, we'd now be PLLAPLA. Is that correct?

Hi Michelle,

I did find a tour that will pick us up at the port at 9 am and have us at LAX by 4pm. It is the grand tour - Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Venice Beach, Santa Monica... all the usual stuff and lunch at Mel's Diner.

I booked with a company called Sunseeker Tours. The owner is called Ken Brown and seemed to be a pretty nice guy. He told me that the coach could stow our luggage with no problem. If you are interested, you can go to his website sunseekertours.us

Maybe we'll see you on the tour:)

Lorie, I forgot to respond to this thread before and just went back to review the last few pages and realized this.

DH wants to go back on earliest flight we can take, not the 5:20 flight (which was about 40.00 pp cheaper!). I called DCL and they said to book a flight after 1 pm which meant the next flight we can take is 2:25, so that's what I booked. I'm really bummed. I thought we should do the tour and the later flight. DH doesn't voice an opinion very often, I pretty much get to do anything I want :cool1: so in the rare instance he does, I usually listen, ha!

Hey, I'm up for a meet and greet, too. I did this on the last cruise and it was fun.

I see a couple of you have boys around 14-15 and my oldest would like to meet some other boys who'll be in the teen club. We did this on our last Disney cruise in 2004 and it was great. I don't remember seeing any other boys around my other son's age (12) though, but saw some girls  , he doesn't like girls yet, at least that's what he tells me.:rolleyes1

I tried to reserve our rental car today, for one way rental have to do it on the phone. Office is closed today. Then onto shuttle for the way back to airport. I put in for some quotes, so hopefully I will get that taken care of this week. I did put in for a quote from pronto.

DH and I leave for Mazatlan shortly (kids at home with Grandma and the dog!) and I haven't even started to think about that trip, I've been so focused on this one! My aunt and uncle live in Mazatlan and we go down every couple of years. So, rest of day will be spent trying on shorts and capris to see if any of them fit.:scared1: Hope everyone is healthy and having a good weekend.

You know, I thought I had it all figured out....til DCL decided to confuse the daylights out of me.

Parrot Cay is usually 1st for people with younger kids
Animators is usually first for people with young teens
And Lumiere's is usually first for adults or families with much older kids

But...it seems on our last cruise or two, they weren't really sticking to that....they were still going with Parrot Cay for the young kids, but the other two were a mix.

On our last cruise when the girls were 16 and 12 we had PLAPLAP and on the cruise before that when they were 14 and 10 we had LAPLAPL. I'm not even going to guess what rotation we will have this time but the PLLAPLA one would be nice because then we would be in Lumiere's for formal and semi-formal and Parrot Cay for Pirate Night (I think).

Well, now I don't know what to think! This is hard for an obsessive planner like me. We had APLAPLA in 2004 when kids were 7 and 11 years old. We only did the 3 night and this worked out perfectly for us. The kids came to dinner with us the first night and saw got to see show at AP. They couldn't wait to get to the clubs (even asked to skip dessert) and asked if we would eat without them the other two suppers. We were fine with that, being we ate other two meals together. Date nights were great!

One other question. DH and I like to dress up, so I figured we could dress nicely at formal night, at Palo, and for semi-formal night. So, with the old schedule I booked Palo for night 3 because it used to be a casual night. Am I reading it correctly that night 3 is now formal night? If so, if I try to get night 2 at Palo, I would lose the current reservation and maybe not even get in night 2. Is this correct? Man, just when I think I've got it all planned out...:confused3

Speaking of dress can anyone tell me what the appropriate dress attire would be for brunch at Palo?

I'll answer my own question and maybe it'll help someone else out! :rotfl: On another thread Carole confirmed with concierge that night two is formal for Mex. Riv.

So I'm glad I kept my reservation for night 3 at Palo. Now, I did go in and look and you can modify your reservation. Before you cancel it, you can see what other times are available. So, if I would have wanted to change it and the time I wanted wasn't available, I wouldn't lose my original reservation. Hope that makes sense.

So the 75 day mark is March 25th. Does that mean I can book my excursions TONIGHT at 9 p.m.? I think I can, but I just wanted to confirm this with all of my more experienced cruise mates. :worship: I am just too excited :hyper: and I want to be sure that I am not just dreaming...

TIA

P.S. Hope everyone had a happy Easter and that you are all HEALTHY. No more bugs until after the cruise...ok?;)

Cant wait for the formal night. I just got my dress and I LOVE it. I have to admit that I still love playing dress up:)

Now, I just have to find a gown for my DD5. Oh, the hardships we endure for DCL...shop, shop, shop.

Yes, you can book at 9pm tonight Pacific time. I checked over the weekend and there is still availability on almost all of the excursions.

I usually wear a cute capri outfit or a casual skirt and sleeveless sweater top.

I'm going to stick with trying to get the PLA rotation....or in the new listings I guess it would be PLLAPLA. That might mess things up for Megan and Dave's Palo night though...it will mean they'll miss the show at Animators and Megan really wanted Dave to see that.

Why do you suppose DCL decided to do this? It doesn't make any sense.:confused3

But then....if they don't want to miss Animator's....and I don't blame them, it's fun....they could take my Palo reservation (that I was going to give them anyway) and let go of the other one. I think the one I made was on the 2nd to the last night, which I think would be semi-formal night anyway.
