Has anyone started thinking about Excursions?

Right now our big conversation is should we go through Disney. After reading The Dis, there are many pros and cons of doing Disney Excursions.

Pros:
1. If anything happens or the schedule changes, the Disney ship won't leave without you.
2. If there is bad weather or other unforseen circumstances, you know you will get your money back.
3. Disney is a trusted name so you know that you can trust the safety and regulations.

Cons:
1. Island excursion companies are much cheaper
2. Many people on The Dis talk about longer excursions at a cheaper price if you don't use Disney
3. When using other companies, you never know their safety record.

I see from the date we're not the only ones that are busy. First and only child went to Kinder this year!!! When we last posted we were planning our College World Series trip. Had a blast by the way!!!

Our partners in crime (pirate style) have also had a busy summer. Just sold a house and moved closer to hurricane landings.

Something we noticed that no one has mentioned yet, is that we'll be cruising on MOMs Day. Good planning for the moms aboard. (maybe a crusie name in here somewhere?)

We're in for the FE's, we'll say Ka-Chow is in too.

One thing we wonder about the kids bio is that it seems the first kid has a long time to wait for the bio/questions to get back to them.

We know this is getting long, that's what happens when you've been MIA for so long.

One last comment, as far as excursions outside of Disney, we have done them with no problems. Just remember to do your research before booking.

We plan to shop in St Maarten and Go to Magens Bay in St Thomas.
We are going to do Magens Bay on our own since the cost should be a good bit less then the DCL excursion there- My understanding is taxis are a plenty near port to head over to the beautiful beach so I don’t think we will have anything to worry about!

This will be our third time to sail DCL over Mothers Day. On past cruises (4-nighters) DCL did not do anything too special to celebrate the big day. I think one cruise they may have given my DW and MIL a rose. I always make sure to sneak DWs gifts in the suitcase so the kids can give her something special for this well-deserved day!

Hi there Everyone!!! Me, My DH and My grandmother will be joining you on this cruise as well. This will be me and My DH's 7th DCL cruise. We have done (2) 3 days, (2) 4 days (DVC Members Cruises), and (2) Western 7 days. We Love DCL. We were booked to do a cruise in January, but we had to change it because my husband will be working at the Superbowl. We just got off the DVC Members Cruise and had a fabulous time. We changed from the Jan cruise to this one onboard. We are really excited to be joining you. This will be my Grandmothers 1st DCL cruise, but she has cruised other cruiselines before. We have been trying to get her to go with us on DCL for years and finally I have talked her into it.

Just an FYI, now is a great time to stock up on pirate stuff for the pirate party. With all the Halloween stuff out, there is a ton to be found. We hit the money at our local Disney Store because they had 40-50% off!

Should be fun!
We are going to fly down Friday (or plan to) and get a hotel near the airport. We have a car service scheduled to transport us from there to port on Saturday AM.
We are still up in the air where we are going to stay after the cruise at WDW for the 2 nights. I am leaning towards AKL, BWV or OKW if we can snag a room when we finally decide.

When are you able to book a disney hotel for 2009? We wanted to stay onsite on the 8th and rent a car to drive to the port on the 9th. Do you have to call Disney or can you do this online?

You should be able to book a night online now. I think their site is updated thru the end of 09'.

I've been MIA lately. Just wondering if their has been any more talk about doing a FE for this cruise. I know that we were chatting about it recently but I don't think anything really got started.

Regarding the 2010 itens, I love them all. We are currently booked on the Sept 09 Tortola cruise and we are considering switching to the 2010 repo cruise. Just not sure yet. Worried about the US dollar in Europe & the price of flights.

Our eldest DD is in her HS band and they will be performing at DLR in May. They were supposed to go down the last weekend in May but since that is Senior Prom weekend, the Band Director has moved it back to the 15th. So Caro & I decided to change to the 4 day that leaves on the 10th. This way we will be at CC for our anniversary and be able to fly home to fly to CA the next day . to all. Have a great cruise.

And if any of you are so inclined, we are doing the European Capitals in July of 2010. The bookings have not quite started but we are already on the sixth page of the Meet Thread.

We are flying in on Friday the 8th and my son really wants to go to Disney Hollywood Studios for the afternoon / evening to do the Star Wars ride and some other stuff. Anyone know what resort at Disney is best to stay at for Hollywood Studios, because its easy to get to etc.? I would rather a nice relaxing afternoon but its his birthday so how can I say no Any advice is appreciated.

My Mom and I will be joining you on this cruise.

This will be our 7th DCL cruise and we are excited to be cruising with Steve, Amy & Emma (airtime247) again. We met on the DCL Panama Canal cruise in May 2005 and were tablemates and I think my Mom and I are guilty of chatting too much at dinner and kept Steve & Amy (Emma wasn't born yet) from getting good seats at the late evening shows

Count us in on the Fish Extender gift exchange....we were part of the "orginal" fish extender group on the May 2005 Panama Repo cruise!!!!!

We're spending a week at WDW before and after our cruise
